Putting aside the Mountaineering, Desert Survival and other extraordinary skills needed to attempt this, I don't believe that it would be the Terrain or the Elements that Hinder you the most on this Journey.
this is also very illeagal because you would need to cross the borders in just random spots that dont have a checkpoint or anything. i think that the longest straight line while following border laws could be interesting
Maybe something like a percentage of the log or sqrt of the length, just straight up percentage is too easy. Doing 250 meters on a 25km straight line can be pretty much impossible if it's difficult terrain, but 1% would get you a leeway of 112 kilometers here which would be trivial other than the legal/border issues which are impossible to deal with no matter what your error margin is.
You’re exactly right. I think the only reason they don’t consider that “only over land” is because it crosses the sea level Suez Canal. But I would honestly consider your line just as valid
The alps are not that difficult. I live there (south germany, almost austria) and the tunnel, road and rail network is pretty good. The mountains themselves, if climbed are also not too difficult, there are lots of buildings. I would plan to enter the Gobi desert during winter, may sound counterproductive, but during winter there often is snow that can be molten for water. //t
This is not the longest land straight line, because you can make a line from west africa to north korea, it goes trough suez canal and kaspian sea which are controversial, but caspian sea is a lake and line presented on the video also goes through many lakes and canals. You can also cheat it a bit and draw a line from south africa to the end of russia, which will be 16 thousand kilometers and will only pass through the red sea and the caspian sea.
and this line is really challegne, it goes through sahara, gaza and israel, syria, kaspian sea, and final is in north korea, but at least there are no many big mountains
Very true. I think the website I was going off of mentioned that they didn't count the suez canal because it goes through a sea level part of it. But you could definitely make an argument for counting it. Thanks for watching!

I totally agree. Just like in Geowizard's missions, where farmers tend to stop him

Very true. Also all of the trespassing on people’s land. I’m going to do a video on straight lines roads next
The first view countries wont have this problem
I hope the eagle feels better soon
Error margins in straight lines should be in % of the length!
That’s a good idea, I didn’t think about that!
I've always thought the root-mean-square deviation devided by the length would be a good measure of perfomance.

@GeoWizard get on it!
Yes!!!! This would be nothing compared to Scotland farmers…
@@GeomarginThe Scottish farmers were timid compared to the Welsh farmers
On google earth I can get a straight line from Yihong Youting Industrial city in China to Kakhei in Sierra Leone across land that is 13,602 km
You’re exactly right. I think the only reason they don’t consider that “only over land” is because it crosses the sea level Suez Canal. But I would honestly consider your line just as valid
Where is Yihong Youting Industrial city? I cant find it on google maps
How does this only have 331 views

Nice! I've never been there but would love to go
