In the battle for the best kids smartwatch Xplora stands out as one of the more prominent names. Their two newest smartwatches that both includes GPS-tracking, call- and message services as well as setting safety zones etc. consists of the cheaper XGO 3 and the slightly more expensive X6 Play.

How accurate is the GPS on XGO3? I have the X5 Play and the GPS on it is very accurate. Also how do you choose the SIM-Free option since the website doesn't give you the option to choose whether you want it SIM -Free or not?

I tested the XGO3 a while back and I found the GPS to be pretty precise. Not "expensive activity tracking watch" precise. But definitely good enough for locating someone. Specially using the live-tracking feature.
As for getting a watch without a subscription I don´t think it´s actually possible. At least I have never found such an option for ordering. Might be able to contact Xplora and ask to buy a watch "on the side". However I´m guessing your best bet here is to go for the shortest contract length and then just cancel the subscription after that. As far as I know they want to sell the watches with contracts only. But suppose asking them won´t do any harm :-) // Chris

Hi! No, they do not have a dedicated SOS-button. Instead to activate the SOS function you hold the power/home-button for 10 seconds. // Chris

Hi! Xplora _really_ wants you to use their subscription service and thus gives no support or guarantees that any other SIM-card will work. You probably will be able to use another carrier and SIM, but from what I've read the results differ on how well it works. I would probably ask their customer support to be extra sure (might have changed since I tested the watches) // Chris

Is the Xgo3 thinner? I have xplora4 and for kids they are so huge

hi! The XGO3 is 14,6 mm thick and from what I can find the Xplora 4 is 15 mm. So technically the XGO3 is 0,4 mm thinner. Which, in reality, is basically the same unfortunately. I would argue that the size and specifically the thickness is probably the biggest issue with the Xplora watches, that are otherwise actually pretty decent. Hopefully we will be able to see some slimmer models in the future! // Chris

Hi! As far as I´m aware it is not possible to connect or even use Bluetooth-headsets with either of the watches. So everything unfortunately needs to be played through the built in (not so great for music playback) speaker. // Chris

Hi! Not sure you can change the wallpaper, as in the background picture etc. If I´m not mistaken though, to change the whole watch face, you push and hold on the watch face currently used (where the time is shown) and then you get the option to scroll through the installed ones from left to right. // Chris

Hi! For the call and tracking functionality either works just as well. The X6 is slightly snappier in menus and have a bigger and more high resolution screen as well as slightly better battery life. If you find the X5 much cheaper and you want to save a little, I´d go with that. Otherwise the slightly better screen and performance of the X6 is of course nice, but not a deal breaker in my book. // Chris

Hi! The specified battery life, for both watches, is about 72 hours. However I would argue that with actually using the watches you will get about max two days of use before they needs to be charged. // Chris

Yeah, basically. The X6 has a little nicer design (and the screen is like you said somewhat better). But the Xgo3 works just as well otherwise for tracking and contact. The prices are relatively similar nowadays as well. What you´ll end up paying the most for (with both watches) is the subscription. // Chris

The size does help a little with easy of use when it comes to navigating etc. compared to a more minimal watch display. However and indeed yes, the watches are surprisingly big considered their target audience. Not to the point where kids cannot use them, but larger than I would say are necessary. // Chris

which one to get? none of them, Xplora products are faulty and not worth the money at all. the GPS is the biggest issue of the watches, after a while using it the location stops working. even the "customer service" can't help.....don't buy products of that company.

Hi! Sorry to hear that :-/ I had no real issues with the GPS tracking while testing the watches. However that now about two years ago, so there's definitely a chance the service has gotten worse since then. As long as you´re using their own subscription and SIM they should however make sure the feature is working, and if they can´t then I would say your critique is absolutely valid. // Chris

They are big, indeed! Which does make them somewhat easier to use in terms of touching the graphics on the screen. However I still say the size could have been reduced a lot looking at how big they actually are. // Chris
