How sure are you? Ethernet is still used a lot too in businesses because its more reliable than wireless. All the people could say hey you can use an adapter but its not the samething so people should stop saying that.
If you ever use your Ethernet Port, you'll quickly realize that the Ethernet speeds are about 60-100% faster. Whether you can use one or not, I don't really know.
The drop down takes away from the solidity of the machine's design, in my opinion. However, I have doubts that that port could even fit on a drop down, as is.
Wow I can't believe this is supposed to be a professional review. He's mentioning slightest changes like the battery improvement even though the battery is the same as in 2011. The reason for longer lasting batter (even though its just +30 more minutes max) is a new Intel Core Generation. Also this has significantly faster graphics AND faster SSD!
I thought of that too, but I got the new MBA and I actually like the new one finally, it's smaller in real life. You get used to it and new I prefer it...
I see what you mean though! He says "It's still missing Ethernet" as if Apple are going to add it to the Air one day. But there's no need, Apple can just make even more money by selling thunderbolt to Ethernet adapters!!!!
how apple screws people over: 1) update hardware for the MBA which makes the older MBA look crap (even though the designs are the same): 2) include magsafe 2 and charging people $10 for an adapter to use it with old power cable... apple sure knows how to rip consumers off.... who constantly buy their products at a premium...
Plus an ethernet cable is safe as the internet directs only to the thing its connected to, a wifi can used by multiple devices, hacked, etc. - therefore ethernet still lives.
nobody gives a shit about those specs. frankly i stopped looking at specs for apple products, cause i just buy a macbook, and shit just works. a few seconds here and there maybe in editing, but it just works. you don't need to look at specs on macs cause at some point after buying them for a while you realize they just work. i have had some gay fuking hp computers with way better specs, and even cost more, but it heated up so much it would throttle and shut down, so now i just buy mac and happy.
He didnt tell the Air now has an Ivy Bridge CPU, Intel HD4000 and an option for 8Gb of RAM. That are some pretty good improvements.

It's the standard wallpaper that comes with each one. I've changed my desktop anyway.
Is macbook air cooled passivly or is there some fan?
Hello, @elulok, my answer is 11 years late, but the MacBook Air 2012 has a fan.
its worth the upgrade if you have a macbook air 2010 model.

How come you did not mention the biggest improvement of the 2012 Air which is the new Ivy Bridge processor? Weird..
The drop down takes away from the solidity of the machine's design, in my opinion. However, I have doubts that that port could even fit on a drop down, as is.
Retina display will be a big buying point for me for a MacBook Air. With that being said, I'm going to wait.
Expert CNETTV
Mentions minor non performance related changes such as MagSafe adapter.
Ignores CPU, GPU and SSD speed improvements.

He didn't even mention the biggest feature! : the ivy bridge processors...
you can also get an ethernet adapter for the thunderbolt port.
If you want a fast and stable internet connection, you want wired
I thought of that too, but I got the new MBA and I actually like the new one finally, it's smaller in real life. You get used to it and new I prefer it...
i couldn't even get past the advertisement wtf
Nice surprise there on the MagSafe. Dang, his glasses a strong!
I have never own a Mac computer, and used Adobe Photoshop cs5 for editing. Would anyone tell me if the Mac Air would be good for my needs? Thanks.
since it has ivy bridge now, can it do video editing? and is it good for college?
now in 2024 I think it can do simple editing, gr 11 me approves this, canvas, Netflix, multitasking, yes it can do fine at those
so would buyng last years over this ok?
If you're going to be editing pictures, I suggest you buy the Macbook Pro.
not much else...how about the ivy bridge architecture?

People that travel do. When they stay in hotels the wifi usually sucks.
And when you need to, you can just get the thunderbolt to gigabit Ethernet port adapter!
"it's still missing ethernet" Nope, Can be added by Thunderbolt. Why you wanna make it bigger than needed?
thanks for this. this is kind of information that I need - the real cons and pros that's not everybody knows about.
Everyone say NO to forced advertisements!
well if you don't like it so much you should just ship that air over to me and I'll use it.
well it can't be more expensive than the retina mbp I would pay $100-150 more for retina display
they changed it so it could fit on the retina macbook
Yeah, but this guy doesn't understand how fucking huge an GigE port is when compared to the body of the Air or a Pro.
He looks like Kevin Smith with a little of that nerd from The King of Queens. LawL
i like how people think Mac PCs are not PCs :-)
I'm getting mine in a week or this week! I'm SOO excited!
I do.
USB 3? Heard of it but dont use it o.O
So it's actually more for less?
I'll go for last year's 11" with 128GB, a lot cheaper than that now

It's both a USB 3 and 2.
Im gonna wait for the 2013 macbook air hopefully it will have retina display
His glasses make it look like the de of his face is gone
I'm on my macbook air now
they could use a drop down jaw on the pro. Frankly, on the air, it's just not happening.
he looks like patton oswalt
the last time i used ethernet was on macbook pro because my host has router in guest room and wouldnt tell me ppassword but ethernet didnt
Plus an ethernet cable is safe as the internet directs only to the thing its connected to, a wifi can used by multiple devices, hacked, etc. - therefore ethernet still lives.
its already out
yup.
Haha I meant less for more. Wasn't paying attention. Haha.
I'm getting this one with 8gb of RAM
missing ethernet and only 2 USB ports is what I don't like about this thing. everything else is fantastic
Surface just surfaced
