    Another great video Lucien! I'm a Melbourne architect and love your connections in the photos, the colours, the tradies, the tactile indicators vs the fabrics, the headphones vs the dot facade

      Wow, thanks for such a thoughtful response, that really means a lot. I’m still getting used to all of this so to know that it resonates outside of my immediate friends and family is greatly appreciated 🤝

    All those tall buildings create some awesome contrast pockets and interesting architecture. Really like what I’ve seen from a “pearlescent 1/2” filter.

      Oooo, cool. I’ll check them out too. Cheers 💪

    The concept of spending approx.. $6000.00 on a camera with a super sharp lens and then softening it to look like a 1980's point and shoot is not something I would do, but good on you for trying.

    • @luciengraetz
      @luciengraetz  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Haha, yeah i’m sure it’s not for everyone, but I love it. The images are still insanely sharp because the sensor is so big, and the bloomed highlights stir something deep inside me that I can’t explain, and now I can look at them in incredible detail instantly. But yeah, I agree with you, I’m not normal.

      glimmer glass retains sharpness way better than mist filters, you simply get softer highlights and slight booms

    Never wearing red and walking by a NAB again. The dress dot combo photo was sick.

    Where does this idea come from that film cameras or old lenses are blurry and washed out? I have family photos from around 1900. They are tack sharp.

    • @luciengraetz
      @luciengraetz  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really about sharpness, old uncoated lenses definitely have a look to them. Especially when it comes to reflections and highlights

    More glimmer glass please!

    I would rather have a clean master image and add a fake glimmer glass look in post (if possible)

    • @luciengraetz
      @luciengraetz  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah not really possible to mimic a filter exactly, and I prefer it this way, for me the less post processing the better! Each to their own tho. I’m in Japan right now and just shot another ep with the glimmer glass. Got a photo that I think perfectly explains why I prefer the filter over an edit. Hopefully you enjoy it when i upload 👌

    Nice, I use the black mist thing sometimes. What I had on some photos is a weird reflection as there is a little gap between filter and lens. Night shots with lamps in it can create these spots

      Yeah I’ve noticed that too. Not a good look

    Nice video, Lucien. You reminded me of how much I love Melbourne.
    Also, no lens hood? Shame on you ;)

      Hahah, thanks Will! No lens hood and putting a soft filter on the sharpest lens in the world, I must repent 😂

    Good vids. Had any freezes yet? I walked the streets today (Melbourne) and had to take out the battery and restart three times. Might be because I'm using a slower card.

    • @luciengraetz
      @luciengraetz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, not at all, that sounds shit! I’ve got the right card tho so yeah maybe that’s it, it definitely needs all the help it can get working with files this size. I have noticed if it’s off and you turn it on and go straight to trying to look at photos it needs a second to think. But if you turn it on and go straight to taking photos it’s fine. So I guess it prioritises taking photos instead of viewing them on start up. Which is fine for me, and I think even that’s something that can probably be fixed with a firmware update

    this was super video, really enjoying the Q3 videos, are these SOOC or are you editing them from DNG?

    Great video using the Q3. Are you using shutter priority auto ISO walking around?

    • @luciengraetz
      @luciengraetz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the light. If it’s good I’ll usually have the shutter at about 125th, 250th, and aperture around f8-16 I have a couple of profiles for iso and one is straight 400, but if the light’s bad I switch that to my other one which is auto up to 6400

    next time just buy a used m8; you'll be a lot happier and save the money on the glimmer glass.
