I'm still a lipstick girlie, but I love a lighter weight product for the hot summer months. I don't know why. I love a gloss, a lip oil, or a balm all year round, but especially during the summer months. : ) Thanks for watching.
Oh, I will in about a week when I do a lip balm round up. I'll include every balm I have in my collection in the same video. I won't include untinted balms, but I'll pull out all the pretties I have and compare them for you.
I’m so happy to see these comparisons! You’ve mentioned your lip lines and vermillion border a few times. I have the same issues. I picked up the Ole Henrickson peptide lip treatment in the squeeze tube a few months ago. Within a couple days of using it, it had plumped my vertical lip lines so much that my husband asked if I had gotten filler. I’ve also noticed recently that my lip borders are looking more defined.
So I just added it to a Sephora order in the Strawberry shade. I LOVE a tinted lip balm. This might be my new favorite! Thanks so much for the recommendation.
@@thelipstickgal ooh my favorite that is literally called a lip balm is the Nars Matte Tinted Lip Balm, but the Lancôme Intimate Buildable is very similar and maybe more nourishing.
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect lip balm in a lipstick 💄 form. I prefer balms with color but actively dislike any lip product with a doe foot or in a pot. Something about redipping into the product gives me the heebie-jeebies. Unfortunately for my wallet, #1 is clé du peau LIP GLORIFIER in red which is a fabulous watermelon color. #2 is Nikol Beauty Rose Lip Balm. Everything else I’ve purchased is fine but not up to those. What else have I tried? Dior, Candy Glaze & Loveshine; NARS lip balm; Clinique Black Honey; and Guerlain HONEY TINT BALM (my #3). My previous favorite was Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector which is no longer made. I will have to try the Clarins balm you demonstrated.
I love the feal of the Clarins balm, but I don't know how it stacks up against the old formula. I like the Dior Addict Shine, the YSL formulas, and the NARS lip balms. I don't currently have Black Honey, but I have dupes and I'm happy with that. I'm also very curious about the Guerlain Honey Tint Balm. I really liked the Guerlain Tender matte formula, but I haven't tried the KissKiss honey balms. There's just so much out there. I didn't fall in love with the Cle de Peau lipstick I picked up for my luxury lipstick series. It was just ok, and for the nearly $70 price I wanted my sock blown off. I think it'll be a long time before I purchase cle de peau sight unseen. (online) I would love to go to a department store that carries the brand and spend some time at the counter and see what would work for me. Thanks so much for watching today, and have a wonderful rest of the week.
I think that's too much work. They should've come up with a completely different name for the balms. Something without "candy" and "loveshine" in the name. It's just too much to keep straight.
I always want color 😂😂😂 but have been favoring light weight products that have pigment and gloss. I just got two shades of the Eadem lip treatments and they are lovely, as well as two Ole Henreksen and Summer Fridays 😊Inwas totally eyeing the new Clarins yesterday and am glad I saw this - they don’t seem to pack enough punch for me.
I'm glad I saved you on the Clarins. They're very sheer. I know I'd love Cherry, so if I ever plow through Almond, I'll get cherry instead. I'm not allowing myself to run out and get it right now. I've got so much in my collection at the moment, even picking these up wasn't a great idea. I hope you're liking the Eadem lip treatments. I really love the one in Bissap Glaze that I picked up.
@@thelipstickgal I am in exactly in the same boat, but just love lippies 😂 I use them, as I frequently wear a couple of different combos throughout the day. I actually do love the 2 Eadem balms and within um going to get a clear as a night treatment. I was very interested in the bare minerals. Looks way better than the clarins
Yup these are my jam. As I age I want sheer, unctuous, and shine. Some color is great. I swore off mattes. I reach for creams less and less. I do the oils, the glosses, the balms, and the clicky pens. My bullets are a-wasting. If I go for a rich shade it can look polished and sophisticated. No pencil needed.
@@carols.4252 I love a glossy balm for summer. These are really good, but I wish I had picked up the cherry in the clarins balm. The almond is so neutral and barely there. That's what I get for buying sight unseen. 🤷♀️🤣 Thanks so much for watching today!
I am loving the new Lisa Eldridge balms and also picked up an Hourglass shine gloss in Haze (not new but new to me). Its too hot in North Carolina for much of anything, but a glossy balm works for me most days.
Yes! On hot, melty days I want an easy lippie. That's why I prefer a lip oil/tinted balm/gloss for those types of days. I do enjoy the Hourglass formula. I picked up Slip a while ago, but I finished it up. It's a beautiful formula, but I wish it had more product in the package. Thanks for watching today.
I bought the YSL candy glow back in May when it was on sale price matched at nordies ha, i said the same thing but HAD to know. From swatches ive seen a lot of the lighter ones are very similar and because of the PH i probably wouldn’t get another one, but i got this same shade and really like it super comfy. Typically the main work week im wearing- balms, gloss balms and gloss type products. On the weekends if it’s not too hot il start off with a full pigment lipstick and toss a few of the gloss products in my bags.
It's really surprising that this B6 shade in Nude Brown is so non-pH adjusting on me. I really wanted to know, and I'm so glad I picked this one up. I don't think I'll grab any of the lighter shades, but I'd repurchase this one in a heartbeat! I'm more of a sheer, glowy balm during the warmer months, and a lipstick for special occasions. I really wear much less makeup on non filming days, and these type of balms work really well for that "almost nothing" kind of look. Thanks for watching today Anne!
I was literally just reading about the Ordinary balm before watching this. The reviews were all over the place so I’m glad to have your input😊 Will probably give it a try now. Definitely like a lighter lip in the summer on most days. Having so much trouble with my 66 yr old lips and things fading with the old lady ring around the mouth look 😕
I really like how lightweight the ordinary lip balm is, and I find it to be very hydrating on my lips. Remember that it had only been 24 hours from when I picked it up until when I recorded this, but I do like it. I don't know how it will work in the long run, but I'll report back on it later. Thanks so much for watching. I love a lighter lip in the summer like you, but I occasionally pull out a full-on lipstick.
I like lighter textures in summer and powder eyeshadow only if it is not warm. I have the coloured lip balm/glossy lipsticks by Nabla, Romand (both too thick for me to like them), artdeco ( a small german brand, it changes with the ph and yes it is a nude that turns fucsia on me, the formula and consistency is very nice though). I had a dior addict something and a glaze by ysl, both very cool but so pricey.... the one I'm using the most these days is kitten mischief, not glossy but enough nourishing for me, when I finish it I will give lisa's balm a try. It is still cheaper than ysl.
The LE baumes are still less expensive than the YSL, but I enjoy both. I have the Rom&and Glasting Melting Balm are a favorite of mine, but I understand that they might be too thick for some people. Sorry they don't work for you. I love the Dior Addict Shine and the YSL glossy balms, all 3 types. They're my favorite types of lip products for summer. I've been leaving Kitten Mischief in my purse for daily use. It's such a perfect shade and formula. One of my all time favorites!
Thanks for watching. I love wearing lighter weight products during the warmer months. I'm solidly in balm, gloss, and lip oil territory. These sheer products are right up my alley.
This is just the video I was looking for! It's my birthday month and I want to treat myself to a nice tinted balm. I've never owned one. Your makeup looks so radiant!
Thanks so much! You're so kind to say so. BTW I'm wearing the CT tinted foundation stick today. That's where so much of my radiance is coming from. Happy Birthday! I love a month long celebration. I usually only stretch mine out to one week, but I might do a birthday month when my next one comes around. I'll be turning 50, and if any age deserves a prolonged celebration, 50 certainly does! I'm so glad that you're finding this video helpful. I'll have that other balm video up sooner than later. Perhaps late next week.
I've been enjoying the YSL Love Shine Candy Glow Butter Balm. I don't notice a pH adjusting aspect to it, but I'm sure it's in there. Maybe it's more visible with other shades, but I LOVE the Nude Brown in B6 I picked up. It's so easy to wear and isn't too brown or too pink. I like the feel of the Lancome, and I really like the shade I picked up. I'd be interested to swatch them in store somewhere to see if there's another shade I would like. Thanks so much for watching.
I've guess I've never been concerned with the time of year when it comes to my lip products. For me, it's color first, formula second. I have colors I reach for more in summer, most notably LE Palazzo (though to be fair, I wear it allll year round and love it) and CT Glowing Jen is also a great summer color. I can't wait for your balmy lippie roundup! Will you be including the CT Superstar lippies in it? I still think they're the balm formula to beat. 😊
I feel like you'll be disappointed to hear I don't have a CT Superstar balm. : | I'm surprised I don't have one either. I think I wasn't willing to pay the CT price when she debuted the Superstar balms, so I skipped them. Since then, there have been other balms that have caught my eye and I'm not as scared by luxury prices for tinted lip balms. Thanks so much for watching, and keep an eye out in the next week or week and a half for that Lip Balm video!
For the price, I think they're the pick of the litter. Not too much pigment, and some wearable shades. I also appreciate the $25 price point. That's so much better than the $40 YSL butter balm, but I do LOVE the YSL. : ) I love a product like this for summer.
Definitely more sheer for summer and I’m a gloss girlie, but I’m also loving my Geller and Moira lip products that are lighter. I’m in Florida, literally melting🌴🌴🌴🤣
Yes, I have the same feeling. It's not "melting" here yet, but it will be. By August, we'll be in 110+ weather and I'll be a limp noodle on the sidewalk. I'll be perpetually inside with the AC, and my AC unit better not stop working this summer.
I love a lip balm! I have yet to find my perfect lip balm…but I always hold out hope. I’ve found I like thicker formulas vs thinner. I like something that hangs around on my lips with a little grip and doesn’t slide outside my lip lines. I want something that doesn’t have to be applied every 20 minutes. I like enough pigment but not TOO much. I prefer a vanilla scent over unscented or fruity scent. I want zero mint cooling or spicy burning. Very easy to please, right? It may not surprise you that I have tried all of these but the Clarins!! (I didn’t even know the Clarins existed or I would have)! Since it’s thinner than the Bare Minerals but about the same pigment, I won’t.
I don't think that you'd like either the Almond or Cherry in the Clarins, but I can't speak to how the other colors look or how much pigment they have. Have you tried the Eadam ChouChou Lip Softening Treatment? It's tenacious, and sticks around for a long time. (for a balm) It's also thicker and more plush. It's got a subtle tint, but isn't too much or too little. Keep in mind that I only have one shade, but it's such a favorite right now. If you're close to a brick and mortar Sephora, go in store and smell it. I can't put my finger on what the scent is, but it's not too much, and it doesn't taste weird. I don't know if each different one has a different scent, but that's something that a little investigation might help you figure out. It's been the best balm I've tried in a long time, but it's in a squeezy tube.
@@thelipstickgalThank you so much!! I have the Eadem in clear and I’ve been carrying it EVERYWHERE! It’s EXACTLY the consistency I love! I definitely will be getting a tinted one now!! Thank you so, so much!!
@@LisaF_ I was worried that the smell/flavor would be off putting to you. I'm so pleased to hear that you like it, and will get a tinted version! I've been eyeing the clear, but I'll stick with my ordinary balm for the time being.
Hi Lipstick Gal!.So glad you did this. I'm still looking for the perfect lip balm with color. I think Honest Beauty lip balm in Blood Orange is still the one I like. I may try another shade. Have you tried any other shade of theirs that you liked? They are very affordable. I just got a balm from LA Girl. Don't like it & will be returning it. Hope you are feeling well.😊
I still like the honest lip balm a lot. Thanks for reminding me what a good shade blood orange is. The epitome of just enough, and not too much. I’m looking forward to doing a lip balm video sometime late next week or early the week after. I’ll make sure to pull the honest one out.I actually only have one shade, but it is a beautiful formula.
I don't wear much traditional lipstick in the summer time unless I'm creating a specific look. I love the ease of a tinted balm/gloss/lip oil. I will reach for a lipstick when I'm going for a bolder look and nothing but a lipstick will do. I was so surprised that the Butter Balm from YSL didn't have a hot pink lean to it. I don't find any bright pink on my lips after I wash my face at the end of the day. Maybe it's there, but not enough of it to turn the fuchsia that it normally turns on me. I don't know.
Unrelated to this video. I started watching your channel years ago looking for solutions to a leaky left eye. 😂 I was wo Der what your newest eyeliner recommendations are that can withstand the perils of the left eye leak
My favorite is the Persona 24/7 liner. It comes in 7 shades. I like the Continuum Liner from Make Beauty too, but it dries out pretty fast. I wish mine weren't harder to apply these days. The Make Beauty ones used to glide so easily, but they do dry out. I like the OneSize gel liners, but they only come in black and brown. If you're looking for a variety, check out the Persona liners. I think that the Make ones are good too, but only if you're willing to dedicate time to finishing it before it gets a little draggy.
Yes, I'm reaching for lighter/sheerer shades and fewer lipsticks during the summer time. I do love a bright punchy warm red for summer. Something like Red Hot from Besame, or Strawberry Shock form LE. I love a warm red on a hot summer day with minimal makeup.
@@thelipstickgal I need to try that. Je ne sais quoi is bright for me and typically I wear it in summer but have not yet. (PS love the ND Golden palette!)

Candy Glow for science thank you!!!!! lol!!! I picked up the Clarins shade in Almond on the brand website. I know it's not at Sephora, but I don't know who else sells it. Maybe Dillards, or another department store. I haven't noticed a mint taste from the Lancome, but I don't lick my lips, and I haven't noticed it while drinking from a cup or glass. I'll have to do some investigation. I really like the ordinary squalane lip balm. It's so lightweight, and keeps my lips feeling soft. Especially overnight.
Since you asked, lip balms are easy but honesty I always prefer a creamy, pigmented lipstick -year round.

I may need to try the Clarins. I love their products. I dislike any PH adjusting products. Have a wonderful week ❌️ ⭕️
I am absolutely using light products. Glosses mostly. If I am going out to dinner-lipstick!❌️⭕️
Thank you for this!!🙏🏻❤️
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Definitely lighter color and texture in summer though I still pull out some nude lipsticks when it’s not too hot.
@@BrendaBostonGirl ooh, so glad that you love the Golden palette.
I love a thinner and easier formula during summer time. These are a great addition to my collection.
i am still looking for a replacement for lancome juicy lip shaker 😭😭😭😭 any dupe that u can recommend?
@@samai90 not in that dispenser. Sorry. I also can't think of any bi-phased lip oils on the market right now.
I'm surprised you didn't include the Lisa Eldridge?
@@nicolastanislaus1975 I've included them in 3 videos since I received them. I thought it would be good to talk about the newer stuff I had just picked up. I am planning on doing a glossy balm video sometime next week after I have my thoughts on how these wear. That video will include these colored balms as well as all the rest in my collection. Thanks for watching.
Tinted lip balm and tinted lip oil with a clear lip liner!
Who makes your favorite clear lip liner? Very curious to know. Thanks for watching today.
@@thelipstickgal Revlon & Sephora
I bought the clarins lip oil balm and returned it. Not enough color and tastes/smells kinda gross. I just couldn’t stand it.
I was disappointed with the formula as a whole. I still have the one I purchased, but I don't recommend it and would never repurchase. I'm glad you were able to return it. Thanks for watching today.
Team Tinted Lip Balm, all year 'round. Not too shiny though.
@@hillshounds 👍 I love a tinted balm. I do still love my lipsticks, but not as much for summer.
Candy Glow for science thank you!!!!! lol!!! Someone else said the Lancome tasted like mint that’s why I did not order them does it not? … I need the ordinary one it’s got squalene oils … I got the vanilla Sephora lip mask yesterday and my lips are soft too I’m surprised mad it did not taste like vanilla lol bc I put the Laneige vanilla back I love the bare minerals one I have it in friendship my camel color like fig Lisa e I believe 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 I’m getting my Clarins today can’t wait to see I got Lychee did not see a brown man I would’ve gotten it where did u get it ?
I picked up the Clarins shade in Almond on the brand website. I know it's not at Sephora, but I don't know who else sells it. Maybe Dillards, or another department store.
I haven't noticed a mint taste from the Lancome, but I don't lick my lips, and I haven't noticed it while drinking from a cup or glass. I'll have to do some investigation. I really like the ordinary squalane lip balm. It's so lightweight, and keeps my lips feeling soft. Especially overnight.
