    Hi!
I have scales, it have only RS485. I need to grab some parameters from it via Ethernet to PLC -Studio5000. I want to buy moxa, but I wonder how do connetions. Do Y have movie?

@FanBulma88: You don’t really need a moxa gateway. From what you provided, I think you need a Prosoft Modbus card. If your controller is Compactlogix, you will need an MVI69-MCM. If it’s a controlLogix, you will need an MVI56-MCM instead. Prosoft do have pretty good videos showing step by step how to configure its modules and how to set them up in Studio 5000. You will need to set up your PLC as a master to look for or monitor data from your scales as slaves over Modbus RTU. Prosoft Modbus module does support RS232/422/485. Thank you for subscribing to my channel. Should you have any more questions, please let me know.

The procedure will be the same to connect a Panelview 800 with the PLC?

@Jesús Raúl Rodríguez Higuera: I am not very sure what you are asking about. This video is for Modbus RTU RS-232 on slave PLC Micro830. You don't have to use Modbus RTU for the communication between PLC Micro830 and HMI Panelview800.

@@SYPHOANG I know where's my problem now: the configuration of the cable I was using it's not the same as the Allen Bradley one...I'll get one of those. However, the micro can connect with panelview with modbus and serial cip protocol

@Jesús Raúl Rodríguez Higuera: The communication between PLC and HMI can be either Modbus or CIP. However, I would recommend you to go with CIP if it is just between Allen Bradley PLC and Allen Bradley HMI. It will be much easier to map tags (start, stop, running, PT-101...) from PLC to HMI than map non-sense modbus addresses (40001,40002, 40004-40005) from PLC to HMI.
