- CARNIVAL MAKES SECURITY CHANGES AFTER FAMILIES CRUISE WAS CANCELLED
the NCL Jade sats sail a day late but seems to have solved the speed issues. Carnival cruise line makes changes to it's security after a direct result of someone cancelling another families cruise.

Security issues happen because people over share their information. People don't learn.
It makes no sense for people to share their confirmation and booking numbers online. Whatever happened to not even posting about your vacation until after you are back home? People just over share everything online and then wonder why they have issues.
100% agree! Even if you have someone watching your house, no one should know you’re out of town for an extended period of time.
Two factor authentication.
Thanks for the update.
Enjoyed your posting Don but was shocked to hear that Orlando was a new cruise port. They must’ve transformed the old submarine area into a ship dock amazing..
if the hotel is 4-500 you're talking they choose to stay at Disney. 100-150 is more realistic for a night. Cancelled flights are a nightmare. Even 1 flight being cancelled can cause you to be delayed a couple days unless you change airlines. No fun.
Always enjoy the content!
Thanks for these interesting updates!
Thank you for your time and the wonderful information you always give us.
Hey Don, thanks for the updates.
Any changes should require 2nd level confirmation. Email person, then they have to confirm/deny changes. I get notifications when my Google is accessed by a new device. Also, not only time. There was recently a person who posted cruise confirmation on their FB page. So.eone used the info visible to cancel it!
Don, you are so right. We are all excited about our trips that we want to share that joy, but that sharing can give out more information than we intended.
Good for Carnival! They also need to add a security question and or last 4 of SSN
Um Don, it wasn't a Microsoft update. It was some security company updating their broken software that a lot of companies pay to use.
I'm glad NCL is doing that for those people who had there cruise shortend by a day. Your right, carnival should add a password feature to there booking process. That would be a big help. Or people could book with a TA and that helps keep the booking safe also.
Thank you Don, For the updates and news, at least Carnival trying to help but like you stated its not bullet proof.
Thanks, Dawn. Good information today. I think people really do need to be careful about what they put on social media that any vacation. Always good to have these videos up for reminders. Thanks.
Carnival security "lackluster"?
That's like blaming Carnival for people's stupidity. Wasn't Carnival's fault.
Thanks for info, always enjoy the updates & stories
This is why all passengers who don't get insurance should reconsider. It's travel "peace of mind"😮
You never know when Life will change your plans. Travel insurance has saved me thousands because of my husband's health. I don't understand why anyone would travel without it!!
8:40 How's about don't post your booking number online? Seems easier than having carnival add a bunch of criteria in order to view/alter your booking. Personal responsibility, ya know? 😉
Yes the security needs to be better.
Port Canaveral dear Don- No ship docks in Orlando! It’s far from Canaveral.
Just another one of a hundred reasons to never, never, put your correct birthday in Facebook or any social media website.
I agree about the 2-Step verification for security...at the least....
Any time I call NCL about a booked cruise I have to give all the info you mentioned and as I use a TA I have to give her parent company.
No one should be able to access your accounts without a secure log in. Preferably two step authentication. With potentially tens of thousands of dollars on the line, lacklustre security is inexcusable. Also future cruise credits that expire under three years is unacceptable.
Agreed
💯 agreed 👍
Stop posting your info on social media.... That would help!
@@QueenKayKay47 Yes, everyone agrees it was a mistake to post the information but victim-blaming marginalize the victim/survivor and makes it harder for people to report abuse. So basically don't be a **** about it.
@@Lord.Kiltridge PLEASE! 😂 Always excuses for you people!
Have to give them credit they are trying to make it better.
Always great updates!
The odd thing is if you call Carnival on the phone they ask you for your PIN number for that booking- so it’s odd that you don’t have to provide it when you manage said booking online.
Yep, minimum email or text authentication.
Good idea for the new security measures
About time Carnival. That is long overdue.
Thanks for all the good information
I agree, a password is needed on Carnival
The OBC is nothing as the cruise line gets it back. Everything is so overpriced on cruises to begin with that they are already making a huge profit. Now you have to spend that money on board on overpriced goods that you probably wouldn’t buy otherwise.
Use it to pay the automatic gratuities
@@notinterested6343 I always prepay my gratuities
Good ideas Don. Simple and more secure.
I hope that the increased security on Carnival is helpful
I came over from Tony's channel La Lido Loca.
All they need to do is email confirmation and give a period of time to reverse. Email could say, you have requested your cruise be canceled, if this is accurate do nothing, if this was an error, CALL US with in x hours. Then have the cancelation pending for that time and finalize after.
To be honest what is the point of compensation paid as OBC that MUST be used on board as its totally non refundable unless you already have a positive balance on your on board statement. Basically the cruise company are not really giving you anything back as you have to spend that free credit straight back with the company. Better than nothing but better still, why not make it fully refundable ?
A lot of sites are using a 2 factor authorization. I'm waiting for Carnival to do it.
Good they need to put more security to prevent this from happening.
Good info, Don. I don't give out my birthday to anyone. Yes more info for a more secure login should be put into place
They need to have two factor authentication to keep bookings safe.
I have always wondered why the cruise lines allowed you to access the booking without logging in. I log in anyway.
In 2024, this new booking security is a joke. The booking must be password protected with verification, like a number sent by text to a cell phone.
Once a cruise is labelled as cancelled, an email should be sent to the cruiser's original email address to CONFIRM that they want to cancel the cruise. Only then, when the cruiser states that they indeed want to cancel the cruise, will the return email to the cruise line cancel the cruise booking.
@@rbowman888 and a call or text as well just to make sure they know asap that someone is trying to cancel their cruise.
Hope the Jade has no further problems on this cruise.
You would think Carnival would also require a password and maybe a second verification system.
I am happy for all the passengers that are sailing on Jade and the resident cruise. I think your cruise info should be more private, and security should be stronger.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you😊
I never even disclose when I go on vacation on social media. That’s inviting thieves to break into my home!
a password or pin number unique to each booking would help a lot
same thing with plane boarding passes. guard your confirmation codes carefully and don't post them anywhere.
RCCL you can password protect your booking, I have done it.
Hasn't the Carnival App already require all of that info to log in to your booking for years? It is a shame that Apps and Website run on two different systems.
NCL- agree with you that compensation wasn’t enough! If you’re stuck over 12 hours and need a hotel- don’t use your hotel points, because insurance won’t compensate your loss of points. Call your insurance emergency line prior to making any plans- so you know your best options. Save all receipts!
More info is better, but ultimately not posting your reservation number is better still.
Hi Don, Security is a issue every place.
Definitely need more security measures.
So when I go to my CCL page I always log in with my username and password. Why would you not have to use that to change or add anything. And if you make changes have 2 factor sent to your email or phone on file in your profile. That would be a start
I can't believe that a password hasn't been in place all this time! They need to implement that and pronto!
So, what is the difference in compensation if you had insurance?
What about the last 4 digit of the credit card you use to book the cruise?
Either two step authentication or a private 4-digit pin would be better options.
Every other web site all around the globe allows you to make your own account with username and password, and sends you a number over text or email to make sure it is you.
So, how is it that Cruise companies can't figure that out???
Carnival and all the other cruise lines need to get serious about online security. Trying to make a payment to a utility company is more secure than what you just described.
How about a code being sent to your email or cell phone number.
The security system needs updated but it has to be on the customer for showing the information
Surely any changes to a booking should be protected by 2 factor authorisation, ie the system sends a message to your cell/mobile number with a one time code to alert the account holder to the activity. No changes without that one time code. Or all cancellations have to be made in person by telephone to the cruise line or travel agent? Security measures to protect these big ticket items are relatively simple to implement.
A pin code should be required!
The cruise compensation sounds fair. Good luck July 31st may she Sail. Password sounds good, or Phone number sounds better
Cruises are resembling the airlines lately!
Yes to more security! At the very least a password.
Hey Don, some ppl's email addresses are on their Facebook also. I book travel under a diff email. Even folks who don't put their bday on their social media, it can be found on many genealogy websites too.... sadly.... kind of ridiculous tbh that some of the states release names and dob on an index list that searchable for folks who are still alive. If the cruiselines started requiring an id to book, passport or dl or state id nbr (whatever the foreign equivalent wld be for a basic state/country issued id) that wld be an extra layer not so easily accessed. You have to have a dl or state id to buy alcohol or cigarettes or open a bank account so having to provide id to book travel (or vote for that matter) isn't really an issue. I'd be fine verifying my dl or pp nbr to make changes. The most it might hurt is the TA's, having to securely store or just request that info every time they need to make changes or bookings but they're already having to securely store or request CC info for pymt purposes every time they book so....
How hard is it to type people?
@@theoldman2821 it's funny how you think I should care what you think. 🤣👍🏻🖕🏻🤣
They need to do two factor authentication! It’s the only way!
If I access my bank account etc it must be on my register device it is a bit of a nuisance as I also deal with my husband bank account etc, with his knowledge. So have to use my phone and iPad but better safe than sorry.
How about booking through a travel agent!
Let me get this straight. When you book a cruise on Carnival, you don’t log into an account? Do you have an account? It should be required to have a password protected account. It’s lunacy otherwise.
If I want to do anything on my HAL or NCL cruises, I need a password to access my booking. Is this not the case for Carnival? I presume not since someone else cancelled that couple’s cruise on them. I don’t understand that at all.
Good information 👍
With my booking number you have to add a pin number to access your account When i share my count down it dose not show your booking number
They should still require a login or generated password to access your booking.
I was one stuck on the Jade an extra day
How on Disney cruise lines you have to have like a username and password and have it linked to your account with two factor authorization
I’m agreeing that more security measures are needed so someone can’t just cancel your trip
Excellent insight
Royal has used the birthday verification for years to change anything, along with the exact sail date and ship.
They’ve been asking for PIN numbers too now
again... carnival can somehow come up with a PIN that protects your account from callers but they have no idea how to do this online?!? smh.
When you are going on vacation you should put it all on social media AFTER you get home. Even if you just say "I'm going on a cruise next week", it lets people know your house will be empty for a week.
Great info as usual
Security is a hard thing to come by these days
Gee Don you just came up with tons of security measures that those 6 figure guys couldnt think of. !!
My hotel reservation to the Flamingo in Vegas is more secure...
And this is why u don't post about your holiday until you have returned home
Even if I don’t post my birthday someone else does. All the questions will bug some people.
Long time in coming. No one should be able to access anyone’s account with just a number.
Two factor authentication where the login process requires you to request a code texted to your phone that is only valid for 15 minutes, then it would require bad actors to have cloned the phone to receive, a much harder hill to climb. Best would be a follow-up phone call from the cruise line. to the customers phone confirming they want to cancel.
Email, birthdates, phone numbers can all be available via social media!!! Travel Agents have to give an identifying agency number. They need to make something secure for customers who book direct. Don’t ever post any confirmations numbers to any travel on social media.
Password makes the most sense, email and ph numbers are also too easy.
Cruise access should only be through your personal Carnival account tied into the booking numbet
