Wow, great job getting rid of all those! I don't know if I could have let some of those go. haha! It's so nice to unhaul what you're not into anymore--your shelves look great!
Oh I agree with you, when you put aside the Evelyn Waugh. No thank you. I don’t know what’s gained by reading about some bored person’s affair. I didn’t care for Beartown either. And I agree, if you don’t want to read books again, get rid of them. I’m really not interested in re-reading modern fiction, so I get it from the library if I a want it. About the only thing that I buy anymore are quite a number of the DSP Furrowed Middlebrow authors like D. E. Stevenson, Molly Clavering etc. Oh and not of that group but fun, Elizabeth Cadell. And never having been a romance reader (though I guess those older ones could be considered romance, so I guess I’ve changed 😂) and definitely not a Regency reader, I’ve fallen in love with Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances. I don’t think her historical ones appeal to me, or at least not the one I tried, but Frederica and The Reluctant Widow etc. are so much fun! And I have just discovered the joys of Miss Read’s Thrush Green series as bedtime reading. I’m definitely all about life softening fiction these days. Other than all those, I have some golden age mystery writers (Christie, Wentworth etc) that I collect and only a few modern ones like Elizabeth George and Martha Grimes (though I need to read more of her before I decide). I feel like these are all books that I would read again. But I’m like you, if I get through it and don’t think I will read it again, it’s going.
I loved Frederica by Heyer!! I want to read all her books. I've also read and enjoyed one of her mysteries, Footsteps in the Dark. I've heard such great things about the Thrush Green series, I'll have to give it a try! Love Christie!! I've never read Patricia Wentworth but plan on it at some point!
@@miriamelizabethreads ❤️I’ve got to give Footsteps in the Dark a try. Frederica is my favorite so far too! The Chinese Shawl is a good Wentworth to start with, it reminded me a little of a Christie book. Latter End was good too. Haven’t read many yet. If you like cozy villages, then I think you’ll enjoy Thrush Green.
I love un-hauling as much as book haul videos! You can't feel bad about passing on books either - whether you've read them or not. I admire people that can unhaul books not read yet; maybe because I try not to pick up something I'm not sure I'll read. I tend to pass on all the books I've read unless it's a classic I want to keep or love the edition. I rarely re-read anything, with such a growing TBR pile of books! and with that huge pile of TBRs I find I do DNF books if I'm not connecting -- a year ago I'd never NOT finish a book! Again - you have the best backdrop on book-tube 😊 your bookshelves are beautiful. have a good week! ( how you finding being an Auntie?!! do you have a new niece or nephew? ) Jacqueline
I was the same with DNFing, I used to push through. I do find lately I’ve been wanting to reread favourites more and it’s so hard with that growing TBR! Thank you so much ❤️ My sister had a baby boy! He’s almost two months old and such a joy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Don't be nervous. If we kept all the books we didn't care for our shelves would be full of stuff that doesn't show our true reading tastes. I think unhauling frees up precious bookshelf area for upcoming awesome books! I unhauled some books this year that dishonored my heart posture for the Father...some things that wouldn't be what God would want in my heart and mind.
Good for you to part with all of these. It feels so good, doesn't it? And more shelf space, too! I thought I was the only person who was so-so about Louise Penny. I read Still Life, it was OK, but I had no interest in going on.
I finished A Handful of Dust, even though 15% into the book I was just reading hoping it would get better... and it never did. Ended up donating it to a local library. I'm all for not keeping books you don't like. I think of it as setting them free to find the reader who will like them.
Wow that's an awesome unhaul! No complaints from me. The authors and books i knew about and/or have read are not my favorites either. I do have a hard time getting rid of classics, but what's the point of keeping it if you'll never read it? Make room for the books you WILL read!
Thanks Anne! Yes!! Honestly for the most part I do want to keep my classics, especially the ones where I have many books within the specific edition. It's more for the aesthetic than anything but I do enjoy seeing all the classics together. I also prefer keeping books by authors I enjoy even if that specific book wasn't a huge hit. Like Julie Klassen, I don't love all her books but I definitely want to keep them all.
Girlllll all our tastes are different so don't feel bad if you don't like something someone else loved. It has nothing to do personally with that person and if they have the spirit of offense that's on them and may the Lord change their hearts.
You dodged a bullet with City of Thieves!!!! I had no idea what I was getting into! Read it November and just kept thinking it was going to get better- 🤮
Good for you for unhauling books! Do you feel lighter? Finally , I totally agree with you regarding the 3 Pines Books. I did enjoy reading which ever one we read together with you. Yep you didn’t say lighter but I’m glad it was a good experience ❤

Thank you so much! 🤗
I love book unhauls too! They really are entertaining!
I like unhauls too. It helps me curate a better selection of books for my bookshelves.

I love unhauls because it helps me decide if I want to buy a book or just get it from the library. 😊
Agreed!
Great job! 😊 I think a lot of us tend to keep the books we would want to reread.
❤
Yes to a selection of books to choose and read from!! I like to have books in various genres as well so that I have options within each genre 🙈
Exactly!!
One of my favorite kind of videos to watch and one of my favorites sisters! Yay!😊❤
Awww thanks girl!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yay, unhauls are the best!
I love videos like this but I understand the nervousness🥰 No worries it helps me manage my expectations and maybe avoid a book I wouldn’t like. 💜

It does feel good! You’re not the only one! I think she’s a talented author but I don’t think her particular type of mystery is for me.
I fel the same way about A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting!
I’m glad I’m not the only one! It was a fun concept but it’s not a book that will stick with me
Loved it!! Not mad at a thing. 😂
❤❤❤😄
This 👏🏾😂😂
Good for you for having the strength and courage to let go of books lol 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎉🎉
❤❤❤❤
16:30 65 books unhauled! Great video 💜
💜💜💜💜
I finished A Handful of Dust, even though 15% into the book I was just reading hoping it would get better... and it never did. Ended up donating it to a local library.

Yes! Exactly.
Hearty agreement on Jude the Obscure!
😅
9:36 oooh Dark of the West had my eye on that. moving on from that one! Thank you

Great unhaul sister! 🎉
I love unhaulung and watching others do so as well
You dodged a bullet with City of Thieves!!!! I had no idea what I was getting into! Read it November and just kept thinking it was going to get better- 🤮
I read a content warning list for it and.... yikessss
This makes me want to purge my whole house. 😂
😅
I DNFd Shadow of the wind too
Yeah I unhauled it too. Too many other books I want to read.
Hope you get some great reads in 2024.
Thank you, you as well!
The only one I disagree with Is Dragonfly by Leila Meacham. I loved that book!!
Oooo! I did end up getting rid of it but if anything I can always check it out from the library

I'm glad I read it with you too!! It helped me get my thoughts together.
I had the same experience with Bear Town. I tried one other book by him, also. He is just not an author for me.
Philippa Gregory is a bit spicy.
Oh thank you for letting me know!!
@@miriamelizabethreads You are very welcome.
Unhaulllll letssss gooooo!! 🔥🔥🔥
