    I've been on the hunt for something exactly like this! i loved DJing and looping multiple tracks and mixing them together and making new songs out of different song parts. this feels like it's the perfect piece of hardware to expand on this idea! i obught an MPC to do this exact thing but quickly realized that it was not at all what i imagined it would be... it was way more about production and taking time to program music rather than live perform like this machine clearly aims at.
    i hope i can afford it soon, it's out of stock in my local shop and will probably not come back anytime soon with the current state of the world

    Features which are limited in djs 1000. Will slowly unlock or comes in a new djs mk2 or 3 versions. This is how pioneer works.

    Don't know if you are replying to this older post or not, but here goes. You mention at around 6:50 that you can't normalize the sample. I am using a couple of nice Rode mics to capture audience replies and use that in my DJ mix, and I would like to use the DJS-1000 to aid in this. I am presently using the MPC Live but I am still having a problem getting a loud enough signal, and getting the Live to cut up the recording is a little challenging. I thought that maybe the DJS might be better and easier to do this with, plus I like the sequencer function as well for beat making on the fly. Does the DJS have normalization now six years later? Thanks.

      @@garyusinger As far as I know the DJS1000 hasn’t been updated since 2022 and overall is far less capable than the MPC. I don’t know what type of microphones you have but if they are condenser mics you may need to use a microphone pre-amp. Otherwise the signal will be very low.

    Hi TD, when you say this machine can be a looper does that mean you can multitrack on each of the pads while listening to your previous loops? Thanks, love your videos.

    This and the SP -16 have just blown me away, specially with the sequencer and pad looping. MPC One is great but I most admit that Pioneer just got it super right. Making quality music with this is really fun an easy, sadly it made a lot of my gear obsolete instantly, makes no sense for me to use a 4 or 5 piece set up to do what I can do with Pioneer's SP-16 or DJ 1000 alone.

    • @TUBEDIGGA
      @TUBEDIGGA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are more simple than the MPC but too limited for my personal needs. I didn’t like the SP16 at all to be honest but really enjoyed my time with the 1000. I recently checked to see how much they had developed and updated the OS as it lacked some features that made me wary of buying my own unit (Pioneer DJ loaned me one for a few months which I returned a couple of years back). It appeared they had left it alone unless I’m mistaken. Does it have anything new and have they continued to develop it?

      @@TUBEDIGGA You are right I saw no significant updates to the 1000 now that I went to do download SP16 firmware since I only bought my unit a few weeks ago.
      I do not own the 1000 but my best friend does and I have tried it. For me the sequencer and ability to do parameter locks allows me to use the SP16 as a portable Daw and drum machine but I am obviously not on your level( Much respect to you 🙇‍♂️)
      I am gearing back up because when the pandemic started I had to sell them all just to pay the bills.
      So right now,
      1.MPC One - Never thought it was such a powerful machine. I only wish it had a nice sequencer like Pioneer.
      2. Toraiz SP-16 - My drum machine for now and portable DAW.
      3. Roland TR8 - Decent drum machine for jamming.
      4.Toraiz AS1 and Behringer TD3RD - Easy to use and good for jamming.
      5. Analog Rytm MK2 -Love this drum machine.
      6. 0ctatrack MK1- - Have to learn to use this monster to its full potential 😊
      * I heard you mention the Octatrack in your video , please let me know if I may find any Octatrack material in your Patreon*

      @@TUBEDIGGA Thanks I was going to become member anyways, your material gold. I sold my Machinedrum and Monomachine... Elektron gear is very expensive for what their machines do in my opinion, still I must admit sometimes I miss them... just not enough to burn 4 or 5k getting the pair back.

    Great video. I have one myself. I also have some issues that i wish poineer would fix. I think it should have the master volume as a knob that the user can quickly get too.. its takes to many moves to get to the mixer so you can turn the master down or up. At least i havent found another way. If maybe they could control the master volume with the input knob with the option of holding shift, that can change from input and output would fix that issue. Of course the normalizing u mentioned. I feel like they should have thought the whole 16 pads through a little bit better. The Maschine MK3 is killing it with the options it has. The whole reason i wanted the djs1000 was to not have a computer involved.. maybe if they designed the shift button with another button to switch from one page of 16 sounds to another 16 pads. They could use the 4 button bar counter to implicate more pads.. its to difficult to set it up in the scenes that way, but, can be done just makes u think to hard and the point of this machine is for live options. And i feel like it should be able to play tracks from ur usb as if it was a cdj as well. With the nudge buttons u have the ability to actually mix in time. They need a limiter effect as well with the option of more then 1 effect so u dont blow ur ears or system messing around with parameters. I really hope that pioneer does these options with upgrades and not make u have to buy the "nexus djs2000" that would grind my gears.. very good video, Made me wanna comment. Any clue when they are coming out with its next upgrade?

    Superb overview, thank you. As someone who is a DJ and wants to be able to manipulate live samples along with production (brand new to production), would you recommend the DJS 1000 or the MPC Live?

    • @TUBEDIGGA
      @TUBEDIGGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably the DJS as it is less complex and more dj oriented with basic but decent production capabilities. Both can be used for live or studio use but the Mpc is better for sequencing, sample editing and composition, but a much steeper learning curve for a beginner.

    So my biggest gripe is the last of adding a 16 channel mini mixer. I have played this live a few times, and the nobs are cool. But... I like being able to control the mix I do in the studio. I nice for drums, but when you start adding synths to do a solo. It gets a little weird.

    Truly superb review. How would you say this compares to MPC Live and the Ableton Push 2. In regards of live play and production? Thanks

    • @TUBEDIGGA
      @TUBEDIGGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, glad you liked it! Very different machines altogether. MPC Live has a lot deeper sequencer, better file management, better storage options more outputs, overall more complex and advanced than the DJS. The DJS advantages are very warm low end, simplicity/speed, and build quality it superior (too almost any machine I've ever owned in fact, it's beautifully built). No idea about the Push, it's a controller and not a standalone machine - but Ableton is my favourite DAW so I imagine it is a good piece of gear.

    • @TUBEDIGGA
      @TUBEDIGGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry, for live play I'd say the DJS wins due to it's simplicity and of course, it is essentially a live DJ machine.

    Why didn't you opt for the SP16 instead?

    • @TUBEDIGGA
      @TUBEDIGGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I first saw ir in a shop in central London and I didn't like it, just felt very 4 to the floor oriented. The DJS looks and feels a lot more suited for breakbeat/hiphop based music, and it is in my opinion, although both can do whatever you want. I tried the SP16 again a while back and it is not really my kind of machine. The DJS is a lot of fun and it has the advantage of the hot slice mode and a better workflow overall.

    Tube Digga So just because you have found another use for the machine thats good. the machine wasn't design for you. They listen to DJs complaints and design it for them not necessarly for programmers get over it. Im sure they didn't need your approval to design something so good you found a use for your self but you need to check your EGO. I'm 62 and I learned on a set of pioneer 1600SL technics when you couldn't fake it you didn't have a computer built into the equipment for timing and I can spin circles around a whole lot of so called DJs
