I wish there were more videos for studio use and other features. This machine seems really powerful and quick to work with, but most videos are DJ’s turning a filter knob. If you could live loop and multitrack instruments it would be a monster.
I will buy one... hopefully I can use it efficiently I ve older cdjs and vinly player =) my mixer is djm 750 mk2 .... This monster will be newest toy for me
This works much easier and more logic as the Mpc live ( the workflow is a bit strange), this works more like a Ni Maschine but standalone which i like best. You made me want one, but for studio use! But first I need to know more on the midi implentation, especially if you can select scenes and patterns with midi (note), than you can use a external sequencer to make a song mode, which the bastards left out....,and the torais 16 has no live resample. Can you make a video about that, more about using this in a midi setup? Thanx for your amazing video’s 👍👍👍❤️
Awesome tutorial but i'am beyond a beginner ehe and struggling to get sound out of it... Want to connect it to my computer and let the sound comes out of my computer speakers. My steps: 1) Plug in USB into my computer and controller 2) Plug in AC 3) Start up 4) Find sound and start playing (no sound) What did i do wrong or need to add more?
You need to connect cables to the outputs, thanks don’t recall it being able to send audio through the usb. I can’t remember exactly, I don’t own one, it was loaned to me by Pioneer for a few months
Live is better pioneer is easy to use and fun. Although I prefer the Toriaz sp16 because it has song mode the djs 1000 does not. You can arrange whole song export audio per track or 2 track mix to thumb drive. With the sp16. Great studio addition .
Is it possible to connect the DJS Output directly to a speaker, or i have to use a mixer in between? BTW your Tutorial is very helpful for a beginner. Greetings from Germany!
Makise Kurisu Hi, yes you can but it would depend on the speakers connections. If they are XLR you’ll need 1/4” to XLR and ideally the speakers should have their own volume controls
Is there anyway to assign the 6 knobs just below the screen all as default filters for 6 elements of a track so that the different parts can be simultaneously filtered in or out rather just using the one filter for one part at a time? If it isn’t, why? Sounds silly but to me that is so frustrating! Thanks and sorry if I missed this within the video 😊
I haven’t had the DJS1000 for a few years now, it was on a short term loan from Pioneer DJ. They missed an opportunity with this machine in the beatmaking community. Plenty of potential but as I understand it they have hardly updated it at all and I assume kept it relatively simple as it’s more aimed at the DJ market, hence the name.
@@TUBEDIGGA thank you for reply. Totally get what your saying and have my fingers slightly crossed for a future update release for the djs1000 Love the content you provided thanks once again
@24:00 talking about FULL/HALF/PARAM selections within sequence screen, I think selecting a step with PARAM highlighted allows you to set a parameter change at that step without triggering a sample "I THINK"... So maybe a way to do step automation?
Manual says>>> FULL = Sample, Envelope, and All Modulated Parameters are triggered HALF = Envelope and Modulated Parameters are triggered PARAM = Only Modulated Parameters are triggered
I think you explained this after! I still can't work out what is going on with the HALF steps though. Nowhere else explains any of this part (or many of the other parts tbh) of the DJS very well I watched this video over a year ago and went on a mission to dig it out again to try and unlock some of the power of this sequence section. You delved pretty deep in the few days you had this thing!!👍
TUBE DIGGA ah, I see. Damn, that’s too bad. I got the feeling you were going to hold onto it as you seem delighted with the workflow. Non the less, great videos showing the machines potential, thanks again. I’m certain I’m getting one, does just what I’m looking for. Cheers.
can i only loads samples onto the software tsp centre then emport or save to usb? surely i can load a usb with samples and then search on the djs 10000?
@ 13:50 you say gate and hold are the only two options. Can you sample something and just have it loop instead of these one shots? Thanks, and sorry if I missed this info elsewhere.
The Lantern Yes but I don’t have the DJS anymore as it was on a short term loan from Pioneer DJ a couple of years ago now. So I can’t remember all of its functions, but you can definitely loop pads/samples - check out my DJS 1000 drone videos which shows me looping samples in the same way a Roland SP can.
Tube Digga ah, cool. Thanks I’ll check it out. Man, sorry to hear about your X... You had that machine aced out with the wood and metal knobs. Really hope you get it back my man. Cheers.
It felt more geared towards four to the floor music as opposed to breaks/hiphop etc. I forget what else specifically but it was a bit sterile somehow. The DJS felt and looked like a heavy hitter, I think the pads were better too.
mate i cant get any usbs to work in my 1000djs ? i have formatted and loaded a few different drives and my harddrive and nothing? they work fine in the cdjs 2000nxs2 and the samples load when i put them in my mac?
Excellent video, one thing you dont mention tho is about synching with CDJs. I sync my DJS1000 up to my CDJ3000s via PRO DJ Link / ethernet however, whenever I mix from one CDJ into the other the DJS1000 keeps assuming MASTER control instead, ideally when I mix one track into another MASTER should switch between the two CDJs only with the DJS1000 only ever being in SYNC mode... Do you have any idea if this is a problem that can be resolved in the settings menu of either DJS or CDJs?
I didn’t mention CDJs as I’ve never owned any, although I’ve used them many years ago as a DJ. I also no longer have the DJS as it was on a short term loan from Pioneer I can’t provide any further knowledge on the product.
I appreciate this is an old question but did you have any luck sorting this out as I’ve just purchased one and am having the same issues albeit with XDJ 1000s m2 instead of CDJS
@@luketurner4395 no, it’s just something I’ve gotten used to now, it’s a minor disappointment that it remains as is as it should be an easy fix, having to constantly check the right / left deck are designated as master, but it’s not a big deal…still use the 1000 as it’s such a great DJ tool. Enjoy!
@@Nosh_Feratu Thanks for the reply. How did you manage to syncs both decks to the DJS ? I’ve got my DJs pro link to mixer and the decks pro link to each other but none of it syncs. Only way I can is have deck one pro link to DJs but that then leaves deck two with nothing. So difficult to find all of the info out there to properly set things up.
Hey, my mpc X has some latency on the pads. How is this compared to your mpc X pad latency? And do you know if you can do like on the MPC X, record midi without quantize, put the midi to start, then click explode, and make it to audio, then fit bpm and loop that shit?=D Or just resampling your f.ex drums like the SP 404, just that the drums can be exploded on the mpc X/live so you can mix them seperately.

Argggghhhhh! Don't ask me that! Very different machines, both excel and fail at different things ;) The DJS is excellent though, amazing sound quality, great features, a fair few limitations but that, as I always say, can be a good thing. It's simple in many ways but it kind of makes you feel at ease with being 'minimal' if that makes sense, that's not to say you can’t do complex things with it. I love it!
Rob Harris It’s actually very different Rob. It’s more focussed whereas the Live is more versatile and deep. There’s obviously benefits to both. I’ll probably do a comparison video soon but I really don’t want people to think they are similar - they’re very different machines that exist for a ‘similar’ purpose.
Yes, based on the assumption you have enough knowledge to warrant using a sampler rather than a complete beginner who has zero experience but fancies a go at music production.
I wish there were more videos for studio use and other features. This machine seems really powerful and quick to work with, but most videos are DJ’s turning a filter knob. If you could live loop and multitrack instruments it would be a monster.

How many banks of 16 pads can you work with at one time?
You can have 16 scenes per project, with different samples in each scene. Each scene can have up to 16 patterns, same samples in each pattern
