Thank you for this! I've used MIDI CCs plenty and am super comfortable with those but was trying to set up a controller with my Rev2 and gave up after an hour of struggling to figure out NRPNs! This seems like it should solve my issue!
Thanks! Oh man, that annoyed me for some time then I solved it but now that I tried to reproduce the issue and go back to this annoying behaviour I could not do it. It had smth to do with the MIDI clock of course, have you tried to set it to n55 (NSS) in the global settings? Also check that you have the latest OS on your machine.
@@solarj yes, setting the midi clock to n55 did the trick! The only problem now is that I can't properly set program changes. For whatever reason, when the npnr max device is on, ableton does not switch the banks. When I close the plugin, it works but I can't use the automated parameteres anymore.
found it! You have to send, in the NPNR plugin, the MIDI Thru filter, to NPNR. Then, for Prophet 6 you set the bank number at the "sub bank" field and the preset number in the program field. I use a basic midi clip in ableton to automate program changes for external gear.
Amazing ! Do you use the velocity mod page ? (and the 2x control input mod pages ?) it's kind of hidden but they are like the most powerful things on the rytm, 3 mod pages with 4 destinations each
@@solarj for the input mod 1&2, you can use an external CV controller or actually route (physically, with a cable) an individual out of the rytm, to the "control" input 1or2, and use an audio signal as a modulation source. you can even put a (waveform ?) sample on the modulation track to use it as some sort of second LFO/modulation source for the input mod. this page is at the bottom of the kit page. once in the input mod page, you can select which instrument you want to modulate, by clicking once on one of the encoder, then you turn the encoder to select destination. there is also another menu for the input modulation page, where you can enable/disable input modulation, toogle CV or audio modulation and some kind of threshold. it's in global/control But the velocity mod (shift+filter/velocity mod) on it's own, doesn't require audio routing and is amazing. This is basically almost everything you need to know, I hope that helps ! thank you for all the Rytm tutorials :D Cheers !
hi j :) it really amazing max for live control plugin .it control my korg electribe sx perfect .but after 10 minutes it stop you know why ?this is the second version
Sorry I have no clue…as I mentioned it’s crazy that we have to rely on a super old tool made by a private person to use NRPN easily! Maybe if your computer it’s new it doesn’t support it anymore? That would be tragic…I couldn’t find any alternative to gbravetti’s tool for sending NRPN from Ableton..Let us know if you find a better solution!
Thank you for this 🥳

Happy I could help :) too bad that is still the only tool available for NRPN in Ableton it’s quite old :(
Have you tried Ableton 12’s Performance Pack by Iftah? Specifically Performer? Looks promising
No I’m still on 11 but will have a look at the pack, thanks for sharing!
Great tutorial! How did you manage to solve the problem when the prophet’s sequencer would start to play when you would hit “play” in ableton?
Thanks!

Thanks :) I’ve only scratched the surface of those but looks like there more to it, I’ll have a better look thanks for the suggestion!

@@solarj it’s ok I talked to the guy who created the Pelgin , There is a problem with a MIDI note together with nrpn info
i use Diva in place of Prophet..., better Sound...easier to handle...no hummmm....
Better sound?
Hummmmmm 🤔😅
hmmm mostly with external gear. even with prophets.
