    Solar J! This is super helpful. Thanks for sharing your setup and explaining how it's all connected. I particularly like how you expanded your inputs by using the Focusrite Scarlett! Had no idea this was possible! 🙏

      @@robii120 glad you found this video helpful :) I think the additional inputs do not use the preamp from the Apollo twin though and I try to record most stuff through input 1-2 but it’s so helpful to have those 8 other inputs for jamming!

    plugins like serum and diva and wavetable from ableton i use to control them via elektron octatrack (especiall the octa arp) tiered to midimix. plugins easier to manage as 10kg hw synths... and of course using a syntakt. So no big audio interface needed, less cabling.I call it my hybrid setup for going dawless finally at the end with a pioneer mixer and rmx-1000 remix station. Recording via ipad AUM with fabfilter multiband compression controlled via akai lpd8 delivers wav rendered ready results in Audioshare, quick usage in pioneer rekordbox and its DDJ...

      @@lwpweb that’s a cool setup :) pioneer mixer is the way to go for having master effects live, right?I never had the guts to invest 2k on that but maybe I should do it. Also akai force is really cool for live/dawless as you can prepare some loops and play them without Ableton but in a similar fashion with scenes and all. But I feel you man, synths are heavy and that’s one reason I’m not doing that many dawless performances lately…a usb stick with my own productions on it is so much lighter and handy ahahah

      But the push is cool, can make the composition/production process faster and with less mouse clicks. I should get one sooner or later

    Love this setup, thank you. Curious, what is the role of the Apollo Twin X, if you have all the Focusrite? I want to get the Focusrite but not sure what I'm missing with the Apollo?

    • @solarj
      @solarj  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GlennRogers1 thanks :) The Apollo has great preamps and I tend to re-record most of the stuff through its inputs when I decide to use some material that came up from a jam. In addition it has very good native plugins you can only use if you have the hardware. Last but not least it has one of the lowest latency on the market - I don’t speak about latency in this video, I might do a separate one, and when I don’t sequence my synths but I actually play them with the keyboard I monitor directly through the Apollo so I can perform with basically zero latency :)

    • @GlennRogers1
      @GlennRogers1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@solarj The latency is on my mind, so this is handy info. I'm thinking of running the RYTM to the computer via USB/Overbridge, and the 37 and Prophet via audio & midi, going to see how well it syncs - the Apollo is tempting but expensive, could be useful to offload the effects as you mention tho.

  • @mellemellor

Do you know any dawless alternative to that?
      Also here I have some jams - the early ones are crappy though I just started dawless back then 😅 th-cam.com/play/PLPoD-NHkOX62Na_QUphpqP3OqMFsU1Ykv.html&si=M0LdGE8TfnAfRwJB

    Thanks for the insight. Is USB latency no problem for sync reasons?

    • @solarj
      @solarj  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@el_dani I avoided talking about it as would have taken too much time but it is indeed a problem. If I use sequences is fine as it is all delayed but when I play leads or melodies on the keys I monitor directly through the Apollo. The downside is that I can’t use the effects from Ableton but the UAD are also great, just less flexible :)
