I use Holmes all the time; Great tactical Dps who can benefit allies Critical power as a bonus.
For anyone curious about the best ways to use Holmes, then just look up the channel ‘Ka ga’, as they mainly use Holmes and Hokusai parties which are generally not super pricey; just a lot of supports and poster girls.
Edit: Ka ga is a japanese player so if you’re trying not to get spoiled; do be careful.

Achilles is way better than Ivan. But designwise I love Ivan better.
Ivan will not have his np upgrade for 2 years , and without it his NP damage is a joke

Shi huang can be borrowed from friends, since it's solos you need him for.
Hokusai can meme, not loop. She's hitting neutral on everyone, and zerks can be dealt with by everyone.
Summer BB is bait. You use her for TA memes? Fine. But in most cases, rng cards is worth using other buffers, coz BB prevents actual memes due to card lock.
Skadi, and QSH I guess coz he IS fun, are good options. Unless you're rolling for waifu reasons, be careful of the other three.
Finally someone puts Achilles on their list proper.
Some really do still underestimate Farming utility, which he’s great at + a lot more. He hits, he crits, he NP hat-tricks. Obviously this is dependent on Skadi, but that’s what supports are for and he synergizes with her very well. This is not to mention that he can hold his own in CQ situations and provide taunt and potentially Invul with his Bond (though that’s very niche.) Their are Riders who are stronger on their own, sure, and will hit higher damage thresholds, but his compatibility with the current Meta shouldn’t be underestimated.
He’s my main target this year.
Cú Súileabhain if you want a farmer just use Astolfo way cheaper cost wise and SQ wise,, Achilles 3rd skill is basically what Astolfo gets when he NPs,, also unless you have a maxed out Kscope Or a regular one with your own waver don’t bother trying to 3T farm with Achilles,, if you want a rider for CQ Ivan is better plain and simple,, and you won’t get many chances for Ivan since he is limited with very few banners

I don’t want a Rider just for farming, or just for CQ, and I do have my own Waver + (non-LB) KScope. I also have an Astolfo.
I think you undervalue Achilles, though- he’s more than decent at both 3T Farming and CQ. Just because there are one or two hypothetically better than him at either of these separate roles he fills doesn’t mean it’s not valuable to have a servant who can do both at a high level, especially if you like that servant and the way they play.
I’m also not sold on the idea that Ivan is just ‘better at CQ’s’, full stop. Challenge quests are pretty variable and have a wide array of gimmicks. Ivan’s damage obviously caps out at a much higher threshold, and he’s definitely way better in some cases, but it’s the fact that Achilles can be very good (not necessarily the best) in a number of situations that I think makes him great.
That, and I just like his character better than both Astolfo and Ivan.
Eh, Ivan stayed completely irrelevant since release and is always brought up as a joke when it comes to talking about how other LB kings are really op. Funny enough even in CQ there is no reason to pick him (even tho he is great), for everything he can do there are better servants. While Achilles gets picked and recomended for most simple thing - he has invuln+taunt so he makes constant CQs with offsync NPs much easier since he is only SSR with damage dealing NP who has it. Also CQs for last 2 years were not kind to buster when we got all the card type gimmicks. It was always better to go with quick aoe nps (unless you had enough nuking power via dupes to do it faster).
Cú Súileabhain why bother with a general use when you have a servant that can fill a bunch of niches but more specialized in excelling at one,, Achilles is a jack of all trades master of none,, in 3T farming there are better lower rarity options which will always be favored since lower cost is an advantage take for example Marie she can loop just as well as Achilles with the same setup even so why should I use the SSR version for that task? Having several uses is great and all but them coming at the cost of you having a defined role comes at its disadvantages too.
By all means roll for whoever you want. I hate the mentality of tierlists in this game because you ain’t guaranteed shit

We’re basically both just putting emphasis on different necessities. Your concerns are of course valid, but everyone’s Chaldea is different and I suspect Tier Lists can only really focus on pure performance because of the differences in what people are willing to invest in the game. The level at which these concerns factor is highly variable.
I’d choose Achilles for more runs than your aforementioned Riders because he has a higher damage threshold (not just talking NP, here) than both Marie and Astolfo and is more dynamic in cases where that is needed, which is not very rare.Where cost is less of a concern, he’s definitely preferrable as a DPS & again gets put to damn good use in situations that extend past farming where it’s a mix of mob and underboss/boss/ or even a CQ.
In situations where I need to make the cost, sure, I’d go for them. But knowing who I have and *granted I can pull him*, I’m optimistic that he’ll be worth the (ugh) quartz & cost more often than not. I really do think you’re understating how well he can perform in the roles I initially stated, though.
It’s also worth noting that while you’re right about the team cost concern, in the flip side where quartz are concerned (and I hypothetically have none of these servants yet) it’s the more expensive play to attempt pulling two separate “masters of a niche” than it is to try and pull Achilles and make him work to cover both. I feel it’s not off to argue that at the level he performs as a Jack of All Trades, his deficit in Mastery is not steep enough to warrant absolutely needing the specialists.
I see him as my new Drake for the Skadi Meta, and Drake is by far my most used Rider at this point despite a pretty healthy roster.
In my Chaldea he’ll be well appreciated for all these reasons, plus a healthy dose of him being one of my favorite servants.

I have many archers on my roster already... and the only archer that i am planning to roll in the future is SUPERHUMAN ORION. yeah....
I too currently have a strong roster of Archers (NP 2 Ishtar, NP 2 Summer Artoria) yet I'm still tempted to get Summer Jeanne since I could NP loop with her and my Tam not to mention future buffed Paracelsus. At the same time though I really want Summer BB and I'm no whale so I'm conflicted on what to do.

Well, Eresh's banner gave me depression, (at least I got Penth and Caster Gil... and another Vlad Extra, but I have him in the 2nd archive as a punishment for ruining my day), so I lowered the bar of servants I most want for next year. I hope only to get Skadi and Summer Ushi (If Achilles wants to come, I won't get offended).

This is a great list! These are all servants that I wanna summon and I would also throw Ivan the Terrible in there (I'm really debating between him and Achilles).

Proceeds to hoard sq for summer BB, Hokusai can wait as long as there's no competition in December because she's becoming a "limited" servant in the sense that her rate up is bound to the new year's from this point on and I may want to wear a full Hokusai Uniqlo setup just to be ready for her.
Really loving how QSH is consistently high on recommended servants for 2020 videos, that man is simply just a beast of a unit, the ultimate lifeform indeed.
I personally would rank QSH number 1 because he can guarantee to solo or obliterate (with a team) in almost every fight in Arc 1, he's very beginner-friendly for new masters who are struggling to finish the Arc, especially in the difficulty wall that is Camelot and Babylonia, and unlike Skadi, his power and potential comes from his own, which means he is support-independent (although support units would still be welcome to further boost his capabilities), and he doesn't have to rely or support another servant to be effective, you can invest your resources on him and you're good to go. Unlike Skadi, who demands that you need to have a powerful Quick servant on your own as well as the need to level, have a Kaleidoscope, and invest in her too, so her skills will get to the max potential.
Sad Ivan didn't make it in the list, the first Lostbelt King really deserves more attention and respect. That said, this is a great and helpful list, really appreciate on how you carefully detail and explain your thoughts on the upcoming servants.

That's just a small issue for Hokusai's. Her third skill defense down gives her massive power spike to make up for that, and foreigner class star absorb gives her easy crit damage.
Hokusai's weakness is debuff immunity enemies or anti-NP spam measures, but those are rare as hell in CQ's.

2020 is going to be one hell of a year, that much I am sure.
I'm still thinking about summoning Skadi because I'll be trying to summon Izou, not nice when their banners are not that far apart. But I'm definitely going to go for Shi Huang Di which sadly means Eresh won't be coming home anytime soon. I'll be trying my luck again for Arthur after the nightmare that was Chaldea Boys 2019.
Skadi is definitely my number 1 and Summer BB is my number 2. I also lucked out and managed to get Hokusai already so now I just need to know when those 2 come out and possibly the others mentioned just in case I want to roll for them too.

Eresh more or less proved my E rank Luck so I'm not honestly sure if I can even roll much. Literally rolled Casgil (I'm thankful) and Lolidusa and even got spooked by Lobo and she never answered my call.
I think I can firmly say I'll try my damnest at getting Skadi, once the salt for me trying to get Ecchan/MHXA again wears off. I spent 600 Quarts last year for her, didn't happen. Lets see if history will repeat itself.

2019 Left me with 900+ SQ and 100+ tickets to start the year so I'll save and try to make the most out of it. Gonna go for Sigurd, Okita Alter and Salieri as my primary targets. Might consider Semiramis too.
And yes, I'm skipping Skadi. I just roll for Servants I like and never give much of a damn about gameplay.
Its a tough one, I want hokusai because she is cute and her skills seem interesting
but after that its probably best for me to go for waver in one of his banners for gameplay before skadi.
Sitonai also comes later in the year and being illya not someone I can pass on.
Its really hard since the servants I have don't particularly synergize best with most of the upcomming servants.
I got 8 out of 10 on the last list, Eresh, Gramps, and Musashi included. Naturally I must now try to get everyone on this list this time and truly take on my Whale Form. No longer shall I be a Dolphin! But, I'm mostly aiming for Achilles and Skadi
Dont forget Achille's legendary Bond CE. Party wide invincibility for 1 attack / 3 turns. With the battle mystic code you can swap him in anytime and give your entire party invuln which has a bunch of utility.
My priority list for this year:
1. Achilles
Shi Huang Di is the only one I need this year since I already got Hoku but still need Waver and Tamamo.
I wasn't terribly interested in Okita Alter... till I saw that NP. Sold.. so sold.
My Luck was off the roof this year. Even ended up getting NP2 Eresh with the 15 SQ we got today. Im not too optimistic for next year so Im limiting my Targets to Skadi, Summer BB and MAYBE Sitonai

I totally agree with you Kei. Farming Servants are more usable than CQ. just because a servant is ST shouldn't make him/her top tier automatically.

My general group, and a new servant has to work with this group, is Beowulf and Fergus. Circe has become a regular. Her instant Noble phantasm block first round servants. Achilles makes a second round knockout. Fergus, Achilles and Circe with Beowulf in the fourth spot basically takes care of most problems. And you don't have to worry first two turns and farms well😘🍹
The 3 units I want next year are Achilles, Skadi, and S. Jeanne. My terrible luck has me scared though, especially with how close Skadi and Jeanne are.
KeiCollections I feel that houkasai could be slightly higher cuz Achilles needs skadi to be op but houkasai is already op herself,slap in Nero bride and waver she can be a superb farmer anyways that's what I think since I'm aiming for a arts farming waifu

What if I dont have a k scope highest I have is 75% what other c.e's do you recommend and how would one potentially get a l scope rolling the story banner?

I failed hokusai and Summer BB, Tried a lil bit for Qin but nothing to make me salty. Didnt try to roll for Achilles. Got Skadi.
My Target is Scathach Skadi, no exceptions. So many waifus in 2020, but I will be saving for her, I am prepared to save a lot a saint quartzs and skip out on some amazing banners until the time comes when my No. 1 waifu arrives

Question, if Hokusai's 3rd skill is stacked with BB's Card lock skill, would it be a potential 180% defense down if a Arts Brave chain is paused? If so pairing these two seems like a must.

Even before watching the video I knew shi hueng di (the immovable wall) and skadi (the quick queen) will be the top servants. I got achilles as a spook in jp. XD

don't know if I should rool on Hokusai or Jalter. I love both designs and I don't have the SQ for both :( . I only started playing around September and only pulled 2 SSR, being Merlin and Jack. The thing is that if I manage to pull Jalter, my friends on the friend list will have better ones (np5, fully grailed, etc). I would like recommendations pls :D
