I asked for manual review and they still held the strikes. So I had no choice but to stop until I figured out what to do. It was a knee jerk reaction to the el paso massacre I'm sure. I also have been moving. I sold my house in Vegas and moved north to Reno. Bought a new house and moved everything. That process took months and was insanely chaotic. I literally finished up everything yesterday. So new vids are coming soon. I have a stack of products to review....including 3 guns!

Im so glad you made a comparison video between the XD line up and the Hellcat. One thing is that the XD has a Roll Pin on top of the slide that holds the striker assembly that Breaks from time to time. That makes the XD vulnerable. I might just check it out the Hellcat for myself. THANKS!!!!!!
I haven't got my hellcat yet but I have a Black Arch holster ordered for one. I'm waiting on my local gun shop to get them in. I called 6 different local shops and everyone said they are on backorder. I agree with you on the grip safety. I like them as an added safety for reholstering. I know alot of people complained about them. I think they were just haters because it wasn't Glock.
I just got mine a couple weeks ago and love it. It's so easy to carry. I am wishing it had a better trigger, it feels a bit heavy. With my XDs they all had soft triggers and the Hellcat has a hard wall. I am planning on getting the PRP trigger kit for my Hellcat and mount a Holosun 507K
It's the micro pistol in 9mm. They all have greater feeling recoil but they are a specific purpose weapon as well. Not a range gun. Nothing wrong with shooting it at the range as one should each time they go shooting if it's their carry but physics has more to do with it.
I love my gen 1 xd.I have a bunch of xd s.xdm s & an xds.but if I could only have 1 it would be my xd9sc.I also like the grip safety.only safety a gun needs.
I had a similar issue with a full size xdm 9mm. It wasnt locking back and I figured out my right thumb was pressing down on the slide lock. I have larger hands so it makes sense that you would be pressing up (with small medium hands) and I was pressing down
Not unusual for these very small guns to lock open mid-magazine because your thumb trips the slide stop. Hefty recoil, combined with not enough real estate for your hands is the reason. FWIW, the SIG P365 SAS has a recessed slide stop which is virtually unusable and the Beretta Nano, for example, had no slide stop at all. Slide stops really are not necessary for function. There can be a slide hold open feature without an external release. Change the magazine and just "sling shot" the slide. Maybe Springfield needs to designate where to hold the gun to prevent this. Maybe they could mold something into the polymer frame to show you. Like "Grip Zone" ....Whatd'ya think?
I really don't like that they did away with the grip safety... I like having a grip safety for when I'm holstering my weapon. I know that if I am not depressing that grip safety, a trigger snag isn't going to cause an accidental discharge.
I completely agree with you. Since the Hellcat doesn't have the grip safety I have purposely gone to more training so I can get used to not having the grip safety as a backup. Just practice safe holstering and your muscle memory will eventually be perfectly safe.
@@minutemanprep I went out and bought one today anyways lmao. It feels so good. It definitely has some kick to it being smaller and lighter but I'm really impressed with the double stack mags in such a small gun. The walls of the mag well are super thin so hopefully that's not a problem down the line. Just waiting for my kydex holster which should be here next week and then I'm gonna go shopping for a red dot when I get paid again in about a week and a half 😁 Then she'll be ready for EDC 😎

I carried the XD subcompact 40 Gen 1 winter and fall and the Shield 9mm IN the summer. I was debating getting the hellcat because all the reviewer says how snappy it is compared to the Shield and the Sig P365 .. but if I can accurately shoot XD subcompact 40 the hellcat should be no problem for me, my only issue is, a lot of people are still angry with Springfield, will third-party companies make a lot of excess cerise for that Gun?
I personally don't know why people are upset with Springfield so I can't speak to that. I'm sure once you give it a year or so there will plenty of third party companies with options for the Hellcat. That's pretty normal.

Great comparison, I'd also like to see if it'll take the XDM mags, because the XDs and XDMs use different mags. Looking at my 3.8 XDM Compact the 13 round mag looks identical to the hellcats. I really believe Springfield/FN pulled the 3.8 XDMC off the market last year to upgrade and streamline it, and reintroduce it as the hellcat. And of course chop the barrel to 3".
I observed the "Good Patriot" compare the Hellcat to a Kimber subcompact. The Hellcat caused the front of her shirt to flutter where as the Kimber did not. Along with your comment about "a bit more snappy" tells me the Hellcat is not for the every day shooter.
Tom n Can’t believe I missed that. If you slow down the vid to .25. The muzzle flip is virtually identical and how far her head moves back looks to be the same. To actually know which one shoots softer. You would literally need to shoot them side by side yourself to know. I think the weaker your grip is, causes more sensitivity to recoil. Like my wife thinks certain guns are more snappy than others when to my they feel the same. Some guns are more flippy, but that’s something different all together.

I don't know and I don't have the gun handy but if you call Springfield Armory they are great about getting that kind of info. I have called multiple times and always get through to a person who can help me.

That's 15 yards and yes it is. The key is to guarantee the shots. Sight alignment. Sight picture. Trigger control. Isometric Pressure. There are countless videos on line that will teach you those things.
I don't know who invented the Tacticool way of shooting with your thumbs alongside a slide that comes back at 200 miles an hour. I was taught left thumb locks down right thumb. My 9mm is not jumping around like yours.
After filming this video I went and did a good amount of training with it. One of the best training classes I went to was with Scott Jedlinski with Modern Samurai Project and he really pushes people towards pressing the thumbs into the slide. I am currently uploading my updated Hellcat video right now and you can see in the video that the gun doesn't jump nearly as much. Besides the thumb riding the slide, the control all comes from the pinky which I was not using properly in this video. Try it on your own, if you press as hard as you can onto the side of the slide with your thumbs it doesn't stop the slide at all but it does increase the steadiness of the sights.
As time goes on techniques as well as guns get more efficient. Its the reason not many people carry snub nose 38s anymore. Also the reason gun manufacturers put trigger finger and thumb spots on frames now. Where as revolvers had no place for your thumb . Look at your gun unless it's a 1911 it's git a little thumb divet for the left. Although I just held my edc as you described and it feels pretty solid as well.
I still have to test it, but the normal XD mags fit into the gun but won't lock in place. The major difference appears to be a certain cutout on the actual body of the XD mag that makes it not work with the Hellcat. I have thought about sacrificing a mag to see if it will work after cutting it and putting it in the Hellcat. Haven't tried it yet.
I have carried a XD-9 Sub a while, I tried the XDs 9, both 3.3 and 4" versions... just too light and snappy. My arthritic hands just could not stand the snap ultralight guns make. I would have no confidence using the light Hellcat I'm a gun fight, my Sub is plenty small, with ambedexous mag releases and a grip safety. Like you I have12 XD mags for both my Sub and Tactical XD's which fit either gun. No Hellcat for me, sorry...LOL. If they had just used XD mags I might try it!

When I ask my instructor, what's going on? He holds the paper target on his chest and says, "every shot would have been effective, I didn't train you to make one large hole, I trained you to stop a threat!) After many thousands of rounds down range, I just Smh and tell myself, "more dry fire Doug! you'll do better next week." Yes I'm lucky enough to go to the range twice a week,,,,,shoot my wife even schedules her Doc. appointments around my Tue. and Thur. trips.
@@minutemanprep just an FYI there are some baseplate mag extensions. Only one I’d trust is Hyve. That gives you 14+1 essentially making this the greatest capacity micro aside from the 43 with Shield Mags. Bottom line is this is about as small as you want to go with 9mm for the general public gun buyer. Any smaller and the recoil will be so crazy there will be more injured innocent by-standers than shot perps.

Also it's a self defense gun, and the majority of self defense situations are less than 7 yards, and a majority of those are less than 4 yds so that's a very reasonable range and reaction.

Thanks. I now use the O-Light PL 2 light on it and it works very well. Both lights perform great.

You can mod it to hold 17. Or buy a 30 rd drum or 50 rd drum.

I think the roll pin issue has been taken care of a long time ago.I own several never had one break.knock on wood

those mags might work if you drill out a catch in same spot as hellcat. Looks like its getting caught up because mag release has no where to go

I bought a hellcat but my XD40SC is my fave. The hellcat is very snappy, at 25' all over target.

It's the gun. Its snappy. But for whatever reason the MP shield doesn't snap like that.
Shot a friend's 9mm Shield, it was quit snappy.
Try the Taurus G2C in 9. Love it! Not too snappy, light and for $200 bucks, still can't beat it

Well the hellcat has a shorter barrel then the 365 so id bed the radius is shorter than the 365

As time goes on techniques as well as guns get more efficient. Its the reason not many people carry snub nose 38s anymore. Also the reason gun manufacturers put trigger finger and thumb spots on frames now. Where as revolvers had no place for your thumb . Look at your gun unless it's a 1911 it's git a little thumb divet for the left. Although I just held my edc as you described and it feels pretty solid as well.
Anybody know any 17-20 round mags that fit the hellcat
I still have to test it, but the normal XD mags fit into the gun but won't lock in place. The major difference appears to be a certain cutout on the actual body of the XD mag that makes it not work with the Hellcat. I have thought about sacrificing a mag to see if it will work after cutting it and putting it in the Hellcat. Haven't tried it yet.

Why do you regrip with your left hand after every shot
I have sweaty hands and my left hand kept slipping. Also I may not have been applying the right amount of isometric pressure to have it not slip.

I have carried a XD-9 Sub a while, I tried the XDs 9, both 3.3 and 4" versions... just too light and snappy. My arthritic hands just could not stand the snap ultralight guns make. I would have no confidence using the light Hellcat I'm a gun fight, my Sub is plenty small, with ambedexous mag releases and a grip safety. Like you I have12 XD mags for both my Sub and Tactical XD's which fit either gun. No Hellcat for me, sorry...LOL. If they had just used XD mags I might try it!

@@minutemanprep I know what you mean, sir! I have a ammo log book and ppl have a hard time believing that I have gone through that many boxes. I get frustrated when I don't have a group. When I ask my instructor, what's going on? He holds the paper target on his chest and says, "every shot would have been effective, I didn't train you to make one large hole, I trained you to stop a threat!) After many thousands of rounds down range, I just Smh and tell myself, "more dry fire Doug! you'll do better next week." Yes I'm lucky enough to go to the range twice a week,,,,,shoot my wife even schedules her Doc. appointments around my Tue. and Thur. trips.

@@minutemanprep just an FYI there are some baseplate mag extensions. Only one I’d trust is Hyve. That gives you 14+1 essentially making this the greatest capacity micro aside from the 43 with Shield Mags. Bottom line is this is about as small as you want to go with 9mm for the general public gun buyer. Any smaller and the recoil will be so crazy there will be more injured innocent by-standers than shot perps.

I'm sorry it was not far enough for you. I was happy with my 5 shots all touching not going super slow. I wait to see your review too so I can see what distance you shoot at.
Also it's a self defense gun, and the majority of self defense situations are less than 7 yards, and a majority of those are less than 4 yds so that's a very reasonable range and reaction.

OBSERVATIONS
It is less XD-like & more Glock 43 like, which is the target market share. Also, the Hellcat's magazines are more SIG P365 like too,
the other gun targeted by Springfield.
THE PROBLEMS
- #1 NEVER, ever by a brand new design of anything. Let it sit on the market for about two (2) years and then by the 2.0 version if the gun is a success.
- #2 Do NOT buy the Hellcat now if you have small hands, as said folks have reported serious *jamming issues with the trigger* (see #1 above).
- #3 Please DON'T buy from Springfield if you love gun rights & the love the 2nd Amendment. See below facts on *Springfield's dirty, greedy, lying ways:*
