I would love if Ford could give me an honest reason why the tail shaft is causing vibrations, and how it can be fixed permanently Since my 2012 Wildtrak is 10 years old, and way out of warranty with 289 000 km on.I think it's called customer care. It will be great to know why.

Great review again. Thank you. I test drove the V6 Sport yesterday and its simply incredible. A huge difference to my 2020 Wildtrak 2.0 Bi turbo. Plenty of power, super quiet and smooth over the numerous potholes on the test drive. Seats and steering wheel are also a huge improvement to the perfectly good outgoing model and the screen (although the smaller 10" version) was just right. The issue of vibration from tail shaft at high speed for some of the V6 models has already been identified and Ford is resolving the issue here in Australia for those cars that have already landed.
Hi Paul, Great review as usual. I've had my V6 XLT for a month or so now, replacing a PX2 XLT. The PX2 was a great vehicle but this is something else. Boy the new ranger is tall and warrants the step in the rear of the tub. There are some issues however and I'd like to share them with your following and would appreciate their feedback also. Dissapointments: - You have to hold up a relatively heavy bonnent with a stick. ie no struts. - The tyre fittment looks a tad skinny. - The Auto Stop function 0n/off needs to be reversed. i.e Turn it on when you want too, not the other way round. - The bar graph taco is useless. - The biggest lag off the mark I've experienced. Safety Issues: - You have to take your eye off the road needlesly either turning the Auto Stop function off or whentrying to find the Sports Shift buttons. - I dont know if its just my vehicle but driving in rain is outrageously noisey from the windscreen through the roof area to the rear of the cabin. Driving under trees after rain is like put your head in a tin bucket and hitting it with a stick. I never had this problem with the PX2. The safety issue is that the noise overides any voice commands or phone conversation you make. Therefore it negates the handsfree ability in rainy weather. People on Mobiles again?? This is a great vehicle dont get me wrong its technology, comfort, stabilty and quiet ambience (apart from the above) is sublime. Cheers

Yes please review the next Ranger at night :-) Im still waiting for my wildtrak. Was told its getting delayed due to shortages with my premium pack parts. Waited a year, whats an extra few months right ¿?
this is the best midsize truck ever couple of days ago launch in malaysia on our market but unfortunately we're not getting the v6 engine and total of seven variants but no single cab but a manual variant price of rm108k to rm162k
I have ordered a Wildtrak, mainly because of the interior. As you stated, the XLT interior has been dulled down somewhat, I guess Ford needed to differentiate comprehensively. I feel the colour options for Wildtrak are limited and should have included the red and blue from other trim levels. So I have stuck with "fleet" white, only because I four wheel drive extensively and that colour is the best at hiding scratches and pin-striping. I own a current Raptor in black, and that is one reason I don't use it off-road!! I have to ask, why you publish fuel consumption in US mpg, because their gallon is smaller than ours and when you transcribe across from litres to gallons, it is a little pointless for Australia. For trip planning, I use litres per 100, but for off-road use I calculate in kms per litre because it is far more accurate a measure for changes in road (off-road) conditions. One needs to have a measure of accuracy when crossing the Simpson Desert, especially off-road. I can be down to 3kms per litre for cross-country expeditions. Perhaps you can find out where the auxiliary switch bank (premium pack) are routed to? ie, where do you tap in to use these circuits!!
probably because the ranger will be available in the USA so lots of viewers from there will be watching the videos, the switches are routed back to the engine bay is what ive been told by webby on cars
Why did they remove the chrome elements from the XLT? On the previous model the side mirrors, rear bumper, roll bar and door handles were finished in chrome which I thought looked more elegant and refined.
The XLT has lost some lustre compared to the earlier PX2. It used to be 2nd in the range after the Wildtrak and was the bling chrome version with leather and tech options. Now it's the "workhorse" and it shows it's now 3rd in the range. The interior feels cheaper and is lacking compared to the MK2. I can't see the $10 grand increase from my previous 2016 XLT.
We found the previous model lacked strength in the rear suspension, quite often causing the Ute to jump across the road in spots of serious potholes , the quick and easy fix was a suspension upgrade but really , build it to handle off road to start with. Fuel tank size is another issue , I want more than a 1000 kms out of a tank and more than 600 when towing . All these things add cost to the vehicle and it’s the same thing on every model So I’m leaning towards the XLT for my next one otherwise it’ll cost 100 k Thanks Paul
Your are someone who lives and Makes decisions from media hype , go away if you don’t like it and play marbles Plus you cannot afford one , buy a triton
Paul, excellent review as always. However, I'd like to draw your attention to the recent tailshaft vibration issues. I think these reviews ought to take into account any known issues, including reliability.
I think a decent review needs to include having the vehicle for a month or so. Just like a new Mrs, looks awesome and great fun to play with initially, but give it a month or so of living with them and things change and the quirks start to appear.
It’s mentioned in a video with a link to the story. We couldn’t replicate the problem. Link here if you missed it: www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/2023-ford-ranger-some-new-utes-grounded-for-vibration-issue
In Europe we get the weirdest combinations. You only get the V6 Diesel in the Wildtrack and Platinum models. Both with 18inch wheels. So you have to buy 17 inch rims to buy proper offroad tire. We cannot get this XLT with V6. I would love to be able to buy the TREMOR or Wildtrack X with a V6. Or I wish the Raptor had the 3,5t towing capacity. Seems like every model is missing something.
Another brilliant review, thanks Paul. Tempted to switch out my sport arriving in Sep for an XLT. I actually really like the interior of the XLT over the wildtrack. It’s interesting you mention the Navara coil spring rear. I drove that and the previous gen Ranger 1 hour each back to back and you’d think the coil spring rear on the Nav would be a nicer ride but I found it to be quite the opposite..
Stick with the Sports mate 👍 I’ve ordered a white one with the touring pack. For the extra $2500 over the XLT you get leather seats, wireless charge pad, 5 x 18” alloy wheels, extra front tow point, passenger floor mat & the black body accents 👌

i love your work paul. Now you need a 2.5-3T tow test with the V6 TD and let us all know how it goes through all the tests, people that buy this will use this to tow heavy as the last ranger did it will but was crippled with the 6T GCM
I’d love to see an LC300 vs Ranger XLT/Wildtrack V6 tow test comparison. I think there’d be plenty of people happier to spend the difference on the caravan if it’s not too big a difference in capability.

Does the sunglasses holder actually hold them.? I've got a Pathfinder r50 and my glasses don't fit.the new ones look the same and is never tested. Maybe you should put it in your testing Paul.
230v adapter got deleted due to ADR's as it has to be an Australia only socket not a multi socket. Same issue in the tub as overseas models get the socket but we dont until Ford can fit an Australian socket in
My 2018 was getting serviced and I got one as a loaner, a lot of improvements but the instrument cluster/screen is definitely not one of them, frankly it's shite. The issue I had with the 10" screen was it wasn't as sensitive as my PXIII, found I had to touch a tad harder. But as I said I really missed the analogue layout in the cluster.
Does the V6 diesel in the Ford Ranger have a cast crankshaft or a forged crankshaft? Apparently Land Rovers had cast crankshafts and Ford F-150 in the USA had forged crankshafts. What has Ford Australia disclosed?
Im so confused. I have a xlt v6 on order for 69k with on roads in Sydney due in march 23 and also have a wildtrak on order for delivery in a few weeks for 86k plus on roads. I don’t see how the wildtrak is 17k better
Hey Paul whats your view of the Amarok vs Rangie for ride over the signwaves i thought the VW seemed flatter even though its generations older. Surprised on 8sec to 100 with all the beat up by Ford might have been 7s
Yeah. Then tod carsales has story about ford needing to improve quality. Don’t get me wrong I like the looks of it but after 1000s of km towing and travelling in brothers v6 amarok I’d go vw. Or at least I would have, not impressed with vw using ford engines in ew model. Me personally I think it’s a mistake
All very nice for city slickers, too much bling if something does wrong in the Bush, and fitting a bull bar with all those gadgets at the front might be an issue
I took a wildtrak for a drive, and plenty of punch for towing. I have an Everest on pre-order, so, looking forward to your review on the Sport (with 18's and A/T's for real 4wders...lol ) One thing I am curious about, is any caravan reverse camera integration?? I am prepared to re-use my safety dave mirror mount camera/rear view mirror screen......seems to be very little additional wiring to be able to connect a caravan camera to the vehicle system...... The wireless phone charger is just what we need to un-clutter the dash of cables and phone holders etc'...... Another gr8 review.... Cheers
I'm guessing your a toyota owner, they nether have problem right. That's why there are so many recalls on Hilux and 300 series! Everything gets swept under the carpet.
I thought the XLS was the workhorse Better tires and wheels for off rd etch(I have the last one and use it for work). I don't think I will go for the new look, it looks a bit... unattractive and unbalanced think it is the Ute platform that gives it this impression. The big screen is just distracting and probably won't dim enough at night either. Yes, a bigger old engine in it will help pull its weight and improve performance in theory. Great review Paul.
I have ordered the V6 Wildtrak …… I drove it and was a bit disappointed with it Re it’s power. I expected a bit more acceleration than what it had to offer. I have a 17 Wildtrak so need to upgrade anyway. The seats are more comfortable than the previous model. The salesman was surprised that I didn’t think it was the bees knees.
@@farzana6676 but this is australia so nobody cares here what you get in the U.S because it costs 3x as much for just a normal F-150 here let alone a special model
Seen alot of 0-100 times of this new v6 around lately and it's significantly slower than the amarok and even the old Navara 550. Now I know acceleration times aren't everything in a 4x4 but the whole point of buying the v6 is more power so quite shocked they released it so slow.
@@farzana6676 big time mate your paying on average about $150,000AUD for a new mid-pack F-150 here ($105,000USD) and you won't even find an older model (around 2008-2010) for under $70,000AUD. We're getting ripped off all right
For a commercial vehicle, the 2.0 four cylinder that has more power and torque and better refinement than the old model’s much larger and heavier 3.2 litre. The 2.0 not only has more than enough power and torque but is cheaper than the V6 to buy, cheaper to fuel, service and potentially, to repair and run long term. That’s assuming that both engines are equally reliable with similar long life. At this stage in both engine’s production life, they should both be well sorted.
Honestly not sure what Ford omits so much from lower models and the BAM everything on wildtrak. Why have so many trims then? and why add another in between xlt and wildtrak? Considering XLT sold more as it was the "balance" model.
Would love if you guys could get your hands on an Audi RS5 or a Camaro ZL1 If the ranger had come out when I put my LC300 order in last October it would've been a difficult choice. Still waiting for the LC but my father in law ordered a wildtrack not too long ago, and it's looking like it'll show up first.
Thanks Paul for another excellent review. Looks like Ford have nailed it again. Just wondering what the final cost of the vehicle you drove would be with the option packs you mentioned?
I was going to order the exact same vehicle. Touring pack is $900. AT tyres are $500. Spray in bed liner is $400. Total cost is $72,369 drive away. If you have an ABN then you qualify for a blue fleet discount of $2600. Reduced to $69,769. I eventually ordered the Sports model for an extra $2,500. No spray in bed liner, just TP & AT tyres. Total $71,869 😬

Hey Paul - love your work. Regarding the empty space near the headlights, I've always thought that looked like Ford perhaps intends to put an amber marker light in there for the US market, similar to how the Maverick looks. Thoughts?
Paul. Do you think a software update could resolve the issues with the infotainment or do you think it's more hardware related such as insufficient CPU or Ram?
@@howardwall8743 I get that it'll be a warranty claim. But wouldn't companies like to explain or make a statement as to why a brand new car, latest model has such an issue and what they can do to fix it? I might be mistaken and maybe they do do that. I'm just curious
@@jaswinderssss ... Probably because it's impossible for a car manufacturer to 'stress test' every single thing. Really enjoying the review of the new Ranger, can't wait to see the Everest reviews
Bro this channel is underrated.but thanks for making quality car reviews!.
Paul, something is interesting about those headlights. Maybe testing the headlights during the night and comparing the two would be interesting.
Yes please review the next Ranger at night :-)
Im still waiting for my wildtrak. Was told its getting delayed due to shortages with my premium pack parts. Waited a year, whats an extra few months right ¿?
this is the best midsize truck ever couple of days ago launch in malaysia on our market but unfortunately we're not getting the v6 engine and total of seven variants but no single cab but a manual variant price of rm108k to rm162k
why indonesia always left behind.. we just launched some previous gen by ford a months ago
@@religionofpeace3244 because it has new distributor in indonesia it took the time to release it
I have ordered a Wildtrak, mainly because of the interior.
Again made for the US market as the bonnet opener and fuel filler is on the left (US drivers side).
I love this over the Ranger Raptor. Not so wide, perfect for small roads.
But if you have an inferiority complex you need the raptor
This is not a Ranger Raptor. This is just a Ranger
@@farzana6676 they never said this was the raptor
@@pastorofmuppets8834 They edited their comment!
F150 Raptor is a real sized truck. Not this tampon sized truck for women.
@@farzana6676 I didn't see they edited it.
On another note, you're proving my point about having an inferiority complex...
Why did they remove the chrome elements from the XLT? On the previous model the side mirrors, rear bumper, roll bar and door handles were finished in chrome which I thought looked more elegant and refined.
Just ordered the v6 wildtrak today. I'm a little disappointed with the headlights fogging up. Hopefully they fix this problem.
KG, what’s the wait time on your order?
@@ryanwood1970 they told me late march
@@KG-rx1dr thanks KG
@@ryanwood1970 no worries Ryan 👍🏻
All these things add cost to the vehicle and it’s the same thing on every model
So I’m leaning towards the XLT for my next one otherwise it’ll cost 100 k
Thanks Paul
I use can coolers on my drink bottles and they fit just right, no movement, easy in and out.
Great video as always, will you be reviewing the base Xl model?
Paul is my favourite at doing reviews
The one thing I learnt from this video was the 3.0lt engine was from a landrover/rangerover. Was about to buy one but that scares the hell out of me.
Your are someone who lives and Makes decisions from media hype , go away if you don’t like it and play marbles
Plus you cannot afford one , buy a triton
Already people complaining about a massive tailshaft vibration, looks like the old XR8 problems are back 🤦
The XLT and Wildtrak versions we get in the UK now apparently all come with the 4A drive mode even with the 2.0 twin turbo engine.
Hanging on to my Ford engined Bt50 3.2..old school with glitchy electronics, laughter & tears aplenty

A 995kg payload? Does it not need to be 1000kg to make it eligible for the instant asset write off?
Paul...watching you drift that ranger..wow..im impress...you so great man....great videos as always 🤘🏻
Great review as always 👍
Great review from the best channel I know for 4wd reviews 🙂
Paul, excellent review as always.
However, I'd like to draw your attention to the recent tailshaft vibration issues. I think these reviews ought to take into account any known issues, including reliability.
he actually talked about that in the video...

Great review, thanks Paul. What are the chance that you can do a review of a XL with the 2.0 single turbo?
Quality review as always, keep it up mate!
How do you find the Ford V6 vs the outgoing amarok V6?
Another brilliant review, thanks Paul. Tempted to switch out my sport arriving in Sep for an XLT. I actually really like the interior of the XLT over the wildtrack. It’s interesting you mention the Navara coil spring rear. I drove that and the previous gen Ranger 1 hour each back to back and you’d think the coil spring rear on the Nav would be a nicer ride but I found it to be quite the opposite..
Stick with the Sports mate 👍
I’ve ordered a white one with the touring pack.

Maybe you should put it in your testing Paul.
i tried my safety sun glasses (wrap around design) in a sport model and it fitted and closed with them in it
The last of the old Rangers did not have the 230,outlet very disappointed when I got in October 221 it is apparently a new ADR that won’t allow it
230v adapter got deleted due to ADR's as it has to be an Australia only socket not a multi socket. Same issue in the tub as overseas models get the socket but we dont until Ford can fit an Australian socket in
I think it's more Australian electrical standards than ADR's.
Nothing to do with ADR's. It was Electrical Standards for power outlet configurations for 240 volts AC.
it needs a RCD for 240v
My 2018 was getting serviced and I got one as a loaner, a lot of improvements but the instrument cluster/screen is definitely not one of them, frankly it's shite. The issue I had with the 10" screen was it wasn't as sensitive as my PXIII, found I had to touch a tad harder. But as I said I really missed the analogue layout in the cluster.
The funny thing is, I got an ad for the Nissan Navara just before this
Does the V6 diesel in the Ford Ranger have a cast crankshaft or a forged crankshaft? Apparently Land Rovers had cast crankshafts and Ford F-150 in the USA had forged crankshafts. What has Ford Australia disclosed?
Im so confused. I have a xlt v6 on order for 69k with on roads in Sydney due in march 23 and also have a wildtrak on order for delivery in a few weeks for 86k plus on roads. I don’t see how the wildtrak is 17k better
Never used a Ford before. How is the reliability compared to Toyota or Mazda?
So the off-road option tyre not very good by the sounds of it. Would be interested to see if this is the same on Everest
Hey Paul whats your view of the Amarok vs Rangie for ride over the signwaves i thought the VW seemed flatter even though its generations older. Surprised on 8sec to 100 with all the beat up by Ford might have been 7s
Jesus the panel gap on steering column at 6:30. 😳
Haha I just looked…. Always find shonky flimsy plastic in the fords. I have a Great Wall cannon and it’s interior build quality is sooooo impressive
Looks like it is about to fall apart
The 3 point plug in the back is a big miss I’m a rep and that’s priceless for my laptop
Why is the gearshift in that XLT different from the others
All very nice for city slickers, too much bling if something does wrong in the Bush, and fitting a bull bar with all those gadgets at the front might be an issue
I took a wildtrak for a drive, and plenty of punch for towing. I have an Everest on pre-order, so, looking forward to your review on the Sport (with 18's and A/T's for real 4wders...lol )
One thing I am curious about, is any caravan reverse camera integration?? I am prepared to re-use my safety dave mirror mount camera/rear view mirror screen......seems to be very little additional wiring to be able to connect a caravan camera to the vehicle system......
The wireless phone charger is just what we need to un-clutter the dash of cables and phone holders etc'......
Another gr8 review....
Cheers
So this well tested new model has a stop delivery on it already due to a bad driveline vibration. Must be a top quality vehicle.
I'm guessing your a toyota owner, they nether have problem right. That's why there are so many recalls on Hilux and 300 series! Everything gets swept under the carpet.
@@DM-xe7pk No don't own a Toyota. Just stating a fact.

Glad that they are consistent with driveline vibrations. MQ model had it, and it was never fixed.
Can you also do the entry level basic model? Poverty pack!
Due for a new Ranger next year. I'll go the XLT V6
This car vs the navara pro 4x warrior?
Hi mark, can you do a comparison between raptor and ranger sport please?
I have ordered the V6 Wildtrak …… I drove it and was a bit disappointed with it Re it’s power. I expected a bit more acceleration than what it had to offer.
I have a 17 Wildtrak so need to upgrade anyway. The seats are more comfortable than the previous model. The salesman was surprised that I didn’t think it was the bees knees.
Maybe try Ranger Raptor? We just got a new 700HP Supercharged F150 announced for America.
@@tcmx712 Dang they are robbing ya'll big time.
Are there any reviews on manual transmission
Honestly not sure what Ford omits so much from lower models and the BAM everything on wildtrak. Why have so many trims then? and why add another in between xlt and wildtrak?
Considering XLT sold more as it was the "balance" model.
Hi Paul can you review an XLS? That's what most can realistically aquire.

Would love if you guys could get your hands on an Audi RS5 or a Camaro ZL1
If the ranger had come out when I put my LC300 order in last October it would've been a difficult choice.

Rumour has it, they got rid of the 240v outlet due to the semi conductor shortage. I think MY20.75 was the last to have it.

Does Ford or other companies reach out with a clarification when you point out things like condensation building up? Just curious
'reach out' 🤔... Oh, you mean 'contact'
If you have condensation in a light unit, it's simple really.
It's a warranty claim...
@@howardwall8743 I get that it'll be a warranty claim. But wouldn't companies like to explain or make a statement as to why a brand new car, latest model has such an issue and what they can do to fix it?

Probably because it's impossible for a car manufacturer to 'stress test' every single thing.
If they did, it would cost more money in R&D and then we'd have people like you complaining about the cost of the vehicle.
