    Awesome! Been thinking about which new truck I want to buy and the TF2 is in the mix. I like the scale look, but I'm not planning on showing or competing. I really like what you came up with. The midnight edition is on sale right now and I have 2 additional red bodies from some years ago still new in the box. Great articulation from a leaf sprung suspension.

      Right on Al 😁👍 The TF2 is a great vehicle to be sure, There's a lot of other RC crawlers that are better off-road, but not too many that have leaf spring suspension, "and it's the leaf springs that give the scale detail,😊 You can get more suspension travel, and articulation, out of a vehicle with links, but you just don't get the same scale look "as you do with leaf springs.😁
      I've got 47 RC vehicles and 17 of them are crawlers, and out of those 17 crawlers, I only have one vehicle with leaf spring suspension, and that's this TF2, and out of all of my RC vehicles "this TF2 is my absolute favorite,😁 I've got all kinds of trucks that can out crawl it, But none of them are as fun to drive "as the old Trail Finder 2,😊 "They may be a lot more capable off-road, But the Trail Finder is definitely the most fun.😄👍
      Many thanks for compliments towards the truck Al, and I wish you all the best on your future RC endeavors my friend.😊👍

      Thanks Andy 🙂👍
      And I had done that about three years ago,🤔
      Currently the truck is set up a little different,
      It still has 100mm shock's on it,But I'm running it,in a almost full suspension Sag position,And I also Arc welded the transmission into low gear,😄👍👍 Absolutely no transmission slop! Lol
      Very much appreciated for your Awesome comment, & compliments Andy,🙂

      This was actually how it looked 4 year's ago,😂
      It's slightly different currently, Same body, same look, but a slightly different suspension setup,😊👍
      It's current setup, is it's best suspension setup to date,
      Probably not "Thee" setup,
      But it's the best performing setup, that I have come up with for it, 😁👍 at least while still maintaining leaf springs,😂👍

    Great video. that thing articulates for Sure. i was going to comment in the last video about it looking like the suspension was pretty stiff but I'm still a newby and scared to make that kind of comment. lol.

      Buy it Break it Fix it; no you were right,she was definitely stiff,in the two prior video's,I wasn't thinking about the shock,leafspring,and steering arm travel,I just swapped out the 90mm shocks,for the 100mm shocks,and went out the door, I did the river video directly after the shocks,so the water depth,cobble stone bottom,and the speed of the current,blinded me of the issue,the cobble stone crossing video,I knew that something was wrong, and the video explains the rest of my mind process,lol
      Thanks for watching,and for the positive feedback brother

    Love this truck.ive got a lift in mine as well as z boxes and revolver shackles in the front and rear. Also got 100mm shocks in it now. I'm getting almost 6 inches from the top of the wheel opening on the blazer body I have to the center of the wheel.

      "Rc4wd" is the brand name,
      And it's also the name of their online store, And it's also the name of the manufacturer of the RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Mojave 2, Which is the vehicle featured in this video, and the same vehicle that I "assume" you are referring to.😄👍

      no worries man,😊👍
      I didn't realize that you were new to the hobby, you have my Sincerest Apologies.🤝
      As for build videos on the Mighty TF2 🤔? Hmmm
      I'm thinking... I don't think that I really have anything as far as a "step by step" build videos on it,😕 yeah I'm kinda in shock about that too,😱 I did all that nonsense to the Trail Finder when I first started my channel, and before I actually started doing build videos.🙄☹️
      Alright... It's been awhile since I went through all of my videos, and I thought at one point in time, that I did a walk around video on my Trail Finder for another TH-camr,🤔? But I couldn't find it anywhere in my video lineup,😕 so I'm thinking that I must have deleted it,🙄 I kinda remember deleting it too now that I think about it,😕 I believe that I did that video specifically for that person, and I was basically speaking to him, and calling him by name, everytime I referred to something on the truck,🙄😕 So I only left the video up for a few days before I took it down.😕
      Tell you what I'm gonna do Brother... I'll film a quick "walkthrough" video on the Trail Finder in a few hours,
      I won't name anybody's name in the video, and I'll keep it geared towards the general RC community.😊
      The Trail Finder is actually sitting about 15ft away from me as we speak, so all I need to do, is clear off a table and start filming,😄
      I'll try to get it uploaded before Wednesday. 😊👍
      Fyi; it will be a very detailed a clear in the walkthrough video, and I'll try to cover everything that's on the vehicle, and all the mods that were done to the vehicle. 😁👍
      Sorry for being short with you...🥺 And I welcome you to the Crawler side of RC's.
      😁👍🤜🤛

      no problem Fred, although it's kinda old info, 😕 That truck has gone through several changes throughout the years since this video was filmed.🤔 "as you do with RC's" 😄 lol
      It's current setup is the best that I've ever had it, Which is similar to how it's set up in this video, with the exception of running the suspension in a sagged out position, plus adding oil filled shock's all around, along with welding the transmission into low gear, (To eliminate all of the Free Rolling Slop) Then adding a Team Brood "Chaos" 35t brushed 540, and finally... switching from the Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers tires to a set of 1.9 Tires. "or several different types, of 1.9 tires" (Most of which, are Custom Cut tread patterns) Which work better than any stock tire produced.😂👍
      Custom Cut Rc4wd Interco Iroks, Custom Cut Duratrax Deep Woods, and a set of Custom Cut Traxxas Canyon Trails,😁 I also have "how to videos" on cutting in all of those tread patterns, along with a few others I believe.😂👍
      So your in Michigan somewhere you say there Fred 🤔 Wouldn't happen to be Williamson or Williams Burg would it ? 😄
      I'm up between Kalkaska and Mancelona, Relatively close to the Coldsprings Township Hall, on 571.
      😉👍
      I also have a pretty Large outdoor RC Adventure Park that I built on our property, it's not exactly open to the public as of yet, But it is available to discuss that option, for a local Group of Crawler's.😉👍
      It's a Gigantic Adventure Course.... Go Big or Go Home! Ha ha ha lol 😂👍
      Thanks for your Awesome Compliments Fred 😊🙏
      And many more thanks for checking out the video my Brother.😁🤜🤛
      Edited; I just checked out your channel Fred, and you've got some sweet looking rigs there Brother,😁👍 it's funny but I used to have a 1977 Chevy Blazer that looks just like the one that you have, Exact same color and everything.😂👍

    Hi there...
    Can I ask what drive shafts you have on your rc car??.cheers for your time dave..Great video..I'm new to rc4wd..I have a marlin mojave crawler...

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What's up Dave 😊🤚
      Drive shafts & Drive shaft lengths; 🤔 The drive shafts are, or where, Rc4wd Punisher shafts I believe, But those things are pretty old, I installed those back in 2016, and I'm not sure if it's still the same design,😕 Mine actually just fell apart a few weeks ago,😂 lol The U-Joint pins where so worn out that they just came completely apart,😄 lol But I tell you what Dave they where a Darn good investment, I've had those Drive shafts on that truck for 6 years, And they have been put through everything, Including Countless River Adventures, 😂 That truck has had some serious miles put on it with those shafts installed,😕 Like Actual Miles... Lots of them! 😄
      Awesome Drive Shafts..
      😉👍
      As for the lengths;🤔
      I can't remember what they are off the top of my head, and all of my RC's are piled up in our shed at the moment (because I'm in the middle of converting our old barn into a Studio for my channel) so I don't exactly have easy access to my TF2 at the moment,😕 But I did recently do a Complete Walkthrough video on my TF2 "With it's current setup" including measuring the drive shafts,as well as throwing out a few tech tips that now one else will ever tell you, or don't even have an idea about,🤔😕 it's kinda of a lengthy video at just over Two hours long, 🙄 But if you can put up with my Ramblings 😕 Then there's a bunch of good tips hidden throughout video for you, I'll include a link below.. 😉👍
      My apologies for the late reply, once again I'm in the middle of converting a old barn into a studio, and I have to put everything on hold until I can get the studio project finished, I live in northern Michigan, and winter is quickly approaching,😂🥶 So time is of the essence, and I've been spending every waking hour working on it, and it's getting close to being done, we did the insulation today, and tomorrow is drywall, after that is a concrete floor, and then installing a old wood burning stove, after that is installing a new front door, and window, where the existing sliding barn door is located, and then it's on to work benches and shelves for RC's, and after that it will be Ready to Rock.😂
      Thanks for your great question and patience for waiting on my reply,🙄 And many more thanks for checking out the video my friend.😊👍🤜🤛

    What's up man. Im trying to figure out the best way to lift my TF2 . I have the lift blocks already but you mentioned in your video it didn't give you much lift. Im trying to get maximum lift not for articulation but to fit 1.9X2.2 wheels on it. My wheels are ridiculous wide. Im trying to make it look like those island style 4x4 Toyotas. Do you have any advice to help me get this thing lifted? Am i going to have to lower the drive train to get this done?

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hmmm 🤔 ?
      It can definitely be done Marco 😊👍
      I'm running a single large lift block on each side of the front axle, along with a thin degree shim on top of each lift block "in order to get the drive shaft angle back to where it needs to be.
      And the back axle is naked, with only a thin degree shim between the axle and the springs.
      But that's not all... I'm also running a custom body lift, "and that does more good to separate the body from the tires then anything else.
      😄 The body lift is a pretty simple setup, it basically consists of two black strips of plastic that are 2" inches long by 1" inch wide, Then I drilled a hole in each corner that matches the width of the body mounts, and a few more holes in between for extra adjustment points, And then I attached the plates to the body mounts in the bottom holes of the plates, and ran two short m3's back out through the other direction of the plastic plates "in whatever hole for the desired lift" you want the screw threads to be sticking out by about 1/16-1/8th of an inch,🤔 and then when you install the body on to the truck, all you have to do is gently spread the body apart over the screw threads that are sticking out to attach the body.😁👍 And it works Awesome! I've been running mine like that for years and have never had any issues with it, even after countless roll overs "the body still remains attached,😁 it's the best body mount setup that I've ever came up with, Not only is it a quick attach clip less body mount, but it's also an adjustable body lift at the same time.😄 Lol
      That will probably help you clear the tires more than anything else.😊👍
      Otherwise you could double stack the largest left block on either side of the front axle "along with a degree shim of proper drive shaft angle" and put a single large block on either side of the rear axle "along with a degree shim for proper drive shaft angle" And you'll get a huge suspension lift all around,🤔 it's enough to clear 2.2's, "but it's seriously hard on the drive shaft angles.🙄😕 I'd recommend a combination of a body lift, along with lift blocks, to get the job done.
      "Personally speaking" I probably wouldn't push the suspension lift too far.😕
      I think that my tf2's suspension is sitting pretty good at the moment, which gives a good balance all around "with ground clearance and handling, and then any other clearance that is needed after that, can be achieved with moving the body mount screws, further up the body mount plates.😁👍
      As far as the wheels go;
      You might want to play around with different width wheel hex spacers "in order to push the wheels out further away from the wheel wells on the body.😁
      At one point in time I was running a set of Proline 2.8 Sand Paw tires all the way around on my truck, so once again it's totally possible to achieve what your looking for.😁
      Check out my most recent TF2 video "I'll leave a link below"👇 not sure... but I might show the body mounts at some point during that run,🤔? But I could be wrong, "I talk about a lot of stuff during that run around the RC adventure park.😊👇

    Can you post where you ordered the leaf lift kit I am building off a tf2 leaf spring frame just like yours and would love somt more tips on it please

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I ordered it directly from Rc4wd, "But that was several years ago, and I'm not even sure if they still carry it.🤔 ?
      You could also try looking on Amain Hobbies website, (Type Trail Finder Two into the search area on Amain Hobbies website) and the TF2 "along with all it's available parts" should pop up, Then the real fun begins with searching through several pages of items until you can find the lift kit.😕
      As for more tips;
      I do have a few more Trail Finder Two walkthrough videos on my channel, Feel free to cruise through my video library in order to find those, one of the videos is almost "or more than, 2 hours long.😊👍
      I filmed this video several years ago, but there is at least one more that's a lot newer.😊👍
      Back to the lift blocks;
      Your also going to want the leaf spring "Degree Shims" to go along with the lift blocks, which is one more item that you will have to search for,🤔 you're going to need those in order to get your drive shafts sitting at the right "while installing the lift blocks.😕😊👍
      (Lift Blocks and Degree Shims) 😊👍

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well if you are planning on converting to links, then why bother spending money on the Shackles,? 😕
      It's going to be about the same price too! So unless you feel like spending around $60.00 dollars, for a set of shackles, that you are only going to use for a few minutes, then why bother spending the time, and or money on them,? 😕
      Doesn't make much sense man,😕
      Anyways; I probably mentioned the name of the shackles during the video, I'm usually pretty good for doing things like that, and all you would need to do, is Google the name of the items,😕
      But it's been awhile since I seen that particular video, so maybe I didn't say anything at all,?🤔 Hmm can't recall,
      How about you try watching the video again, to see if I mentioned anything about them,😕 and if I didn't,🤔
      Then ask me again, and I'll be happy to clue you in on them,😊👍

      Hmm,🤔 I see, and I also, can totally understand where you are coming from,😊👍 my tf2, is the only Vehicle that I have that is leaf sprung,😕 and I would Kinda like to keep it that way,😁👍
      Alright; The Shackles are Made by "Rc4wd" and they are Called "Terra Flex Revolver Shackles"
      And then on the front half of the rear leaf's, I replaced the Leaf spring "Perches" with a set of; "Rc4wd" Terra Flex Z-Boxes,
      Fyi, you can only Install the Z-Boxes on the "front half" of the "Rear Axle" Spring Perches, They Absolutely will not fit, on the "Back side" of the Front Axle leaf spring Perches,😕
      So here is what I have;
      I have a set of Revolvers on the Front half of the Front axle, And on the Back side of the Rear Axle,👍
      And then I have a Set of the Z-Boxes, on the Front half of the Rear Axle,😊
      Now, You can Purchase Both items Directly from "Rc4wd" if you wanted, it's as simple as Googling "Rc4wd"
      And you can find them at just about any Hobby store as well,😊
      Personally, I Order the majority of my RC stuff, from "Amain Hobbies" and online website, And out of my 42 Ood years of RC experience, Amain Hobbies, is the Absolute Best Hobby shop, Second to none hands down,😁👍 They are Awesome!

      Rc4wd Steel Punisher drive Shafts,😊👍
      But I can't remember what length they are off the top of my head,🤔 this video is a few years old, and I've done several other builds since then,😕 You might want to take a look through the comments, just to see if I mentioned it somewhere,😕
      If I didn't mention it anywhere, I'll dig out the truck, and measure them for you,😊👍

      😁👍 you wouldn't like my asking price Jerry,🙄
      I had over $1,600.00 dollars into it before I even left the Hobby shop,😕 and have invested large sums into it since then, "Part's & Accessories" wether it needed it or not, I have spent around 3k on this truck,🙄 but some of that stuff was trial and error,😕
      Wrong length steel drive Shafts for instance,🙄 100 bucks wasted, steel bed plate and roll cage, "never used",50 bucks wasted, and so on,😕
      I now that I'll never get more than 600 dollars for the truck if I sold it, 🙄 so in all reality, I'm better off just keeping it,😕 unless someone was too tempt me with a mind blowing offer,😁 lol or some kind of Trade 😊 lol

      Understandable to a degree there Mark, but I gotta tell ya "out of all of my current crawlers, that leaf sprung tf2 is one of my favorites,🤔 And it's also the only crawler I own with leaf's.😂
      It's a fun truck, the leafs add a touch of realism to the vehicle, as well as challenging your driving skills when driving with a bunch of linked rigs.😄
      That was the first vehicle on my channel, and now there's around 57 more,🙄😂 lol but not all of them are crawlers,🤔 I think we've got around 21 of those.😊

      What have you found to be the best mod on the leaf spring? Been looking at the super soft red spings but it looks to be 50 50. Some people love it and some people hate it.

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @markless125
      I really like the super soft spring's, but the last batch that I bought a few years ago must have been a bad one "because the springs seemed very brittle,🤔 I had a few issues with them snapping in weird places.
      But that was a few years ago, so I'd imagine that they got that taken care of.😕
      Maybe...🙄
      Best overall mod though would probably be a combination of everything really.😕 (Everything is kinda working together like a concert) Best Three mods are The Terraflex Revolver shackles on the front of the front springs, and the back of the back spring's, Along with the Terraflex Z-boxes on the front of the rear springs, and finally the third item and "secret ingredient" is having a set of small O-Rings between the Axles and the Leaf springs, and then to "not tighten them down too far! 😕 You basically want them snug, yet still loose enough that they can work like a cushion, and give the truck a little bit of Xtra flex without sacrificing too much of it's "axle holding" stability.🤔😕 Proper O-ring tension is absolutely key with getting that Xtra little bit of flex.😊👍
      Same thing with the shock mounts too! 😕 They need to be snug but not too snug, things need to be a little loose for Xtra flex, they key thing is not to get them too loose "as to sacrifice the vehicles overall handling and stability" 😕
      Once again "All together" everything needs to work together like a concert.
      😊👍

    Don't you have a hardware store that sells single screws? It's usually like 1/4 or less of the price of "RC hardware" and always way higher quality.

      Number 2;This is directed towards your 1st comment,
      The comment you deleted about too much articulation,😕 and I have two replys towards that,#1 too each there own! 😕 #2 this video is a few years old,and the truck isn't quite the same anymore,so maybe check out some of the more recent videos on it,and let me know how you feel about it's current setup,😊👍

    • @R.C.A.D.
      @R.C.A.D.  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm! Well to be totally honest with you,I suppose it's a matter of Opinion,Personal preferences,and Driving locations,😕 a true scale truck rolling on 1.55's with next too nothing for suspension or articulation,wouldn't have much fun,or much of a chance,of following me down a trail,Stock TF2 suspension is terrible by comparison,
      Just saying!😕 "personal opinion"
      But on a different note this is a older video,around 3 years or more if I'm correct,It's gone through several changes in those 3 years,it went from stock too what it is in this video,too crazy lifted rolling on 2.2 proline swampers and sitting taller than my Arrma Nero,too where it's at currently,Which so far is my favorite setup,"Have recent videos up" it still has the same travel,and articulation,except it's kinda hidden,I lowered the body as far as I can possibly lower it,Removed lift blocks,played around with the rear shock mounting locations,installed some soft springs from a set of 90mm shocks into my 100mm shocks which allows the truck too ride at almost full sagg,lowering it's overall height and center of gravity,yet still retaining full travel and articulation,😀👍
      It's currently riding on 1.9's
      and looking more scale than it was at this point in it's life,😊
      P.S.I also Arc welded the transmission into low range,which Greatly improved it's offroad ability by eliminating the extra play from the shift drum,and making everything much smoother,especially when descending obstacles,😁👍
      I know that I could have bought a single speed trans,but that would also require different transmission mounts,and a different mid shaft between the trans & transfer case,and also cost around $100.00 us dollars for everything,"minus shipping fees,and personal time waiting for the parts to arrive",Arc welding was much more cost effective all around 😊
      Thanks for Your outstanding display of "personal opinion"
      with your excellent comment my friend,😊👍👍
      And much appreciation for checking out the video Brother,😎👊👊👍

      Really! Right on then,maybe tell who ever is filming to hold their phone sideways,😕
      "You will get better video filming sideways"
      I personally "when filming"
      drive,and steer with my left hand,and hold my camera with my right hand,"essentially driving one handed" but I suppose not everyone is that talented,although it's not that difficult,I do that with 99% of my videos.😕
