@@msonicgaming4194 i have a theory that if the mastermind dies too early, someone replaces her, but they never wanted to replace her until she died. like the second she died somebody would suddenly be brainwashed or something to give them motivation to continue the killing game. idk if the choosing of the mastermind would be randomized or picked by tsumugi beforehand, but knowing flashback lights exist, i can imagine one would be used to make a mastermind to replace tsumugi if she died

My Top 15 Favorite Danganronpa Characters 1. Gundham Tanaka (What makes him my favorite is how inspiring and strong of a character I find him to be. At the start of the game he's very antisocial and outright cold and disrespectful towards the other classmates, but as you continue the game he reveals he has a soft spot and sees the other students as his only friends besides his hamsters. His character especially shines in Chapter 4 where he agreed with Nekomaru to sacrifice themselves to save the others from Monokuma.) 2. Kokichi Ouma (No one would have survived Danganronpa V3 hadn't it been for him, he may have been a lying, selfish, arrogant jerk but he carried out the good intention in the end) 3. Nagito Komaeda (The perfect antihero for a game like Danganronpa, he's what would happen if Makoto was a nihilistic sociopath who had a cynical outlook on hope, while overall he had good intentions, his own cynicism was the cause of him making immoral decisions) 4. Kyoko Kirigiri (My favorite character in Danganronpa 1, she made for a phenomenal female protagonist in the first game essentially being a detective) 5. Chiaki Nanami (Carried most of the class trials and like Kaito, was a kind and caring person, also my number one waifu) 6. Kaito Momota (Very smart, compassionate, and what I like to think of as the class's hope, while people like to compare Kokichi to Nagito, I like to compare Kaito to Chiaki) 7. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu (One of, if not the most fleshed out character in Danganronpa 2, starting off as a snobbish jerk, after his closest friend Peko died, he started to spend time with and learn to understand the other students) 8. Mukuro Ikusaba (A strong character who always had the best intentions in mind, she didn't deserve the abuse she received from Junko) 9. Kiyotaka Ishimaru (He was a great contrast from Mondo, while Mondo was very defiant of the rules and does things on his own terms, Taka was the embodiment of a moral conduct, if only he lived longer) 10. Kaede Akamatsu (Not only was she the first female protagonist, but she was the first protagonist who had a personality, her execution was also my favorite in the whole franchise because it reverted my expectations for the rest of the game) 11. Shuichi Saihara (He was a good replacement for Kaede after Chapter 1, he's also the character I feel I would be most like) 12. Toko Fukawa (The most dynamic character in Danganronpa 1, she is also one of the most relatable characters in the series) 13. Peko Pekoyama (2nd best waifu behind Chiaki imo, her scenes with Fuyuhiko were very heart warming) 14. Makoto Naegi (A good character all around and he fits the role of protagonist perfectly, but he's as low as he is because he can be a Mary Sue at times) 15. Leon Kuwata (He was the funniest character in Danganronpa 1 and his death really set the mood for what's yet to come for not only that game but for the entire series)
Honorable Mentions Hajime Hinata (A good protagonist to relate to but like Makoto, he can be a Mary Sue sometimes) Kazuichi Soda (Funniest character in SDR2 hands down, he was also the most optimistic of the classmates, he has this snarky carefree attitude that always makes things better, except for when Chiaki died) Junko Enoshima (She's outright terrifying, wanting to flood the world in despair brings chills down my spine, a great villain for a great game) Sakura Ogami (Definitely the nicest character in not only the first game but the entire series, Sakura was so kind and forgiving it's hard not to like her, she didn't deserve to die the way she did) Aoi Asahina (A good friend to have and had good dynamics with Sakura) Chihiro Fujisaki (The biggest cinnamon roll in the series, he deserved better and was too precious for this world) Sonia Nevermind (A good friend to have and a cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong, she was also very caring towards Gundham and Kazuichi) Ibuki Miyoda (Funny character and another precious cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong, why do the cinnamon always die?) Tenko Chabashira (*sigh* yet again another cinnamon roll who deserved better, every character in Danganronpa has their own personality and view point that makes them stand out, Tenko's is one of the most realistic in the franchise) Maki Harukawa (A very relatable character, while Kaito is the symbol of Truth and Hope and Kokichi is the embodiment of lies, I like to think that Maki is the middle ground) Rantaro Amami (A precious cinnamon roll, *again* on the outside he seems to be the most innocent in the group but deep down, there's something on to him, I like to think of him as Nagito with an extra layer of mystery) Ryoma Hoshi (Usually I'm not a big fan of the fat characters, I'm indifferent with Hifumi and I dislike Teruteru, but Ryoma has one of the most interesting histories and backgrounds of any character) Gonta Gokuhara (He did nothing wrong, he did what all he did for one reason, he just wanted to be a nice guy, Gonta did not deserve what he received and will always be a true gentleman) Miu Iruma (Miu is a good waifu and a funny character at that, she was another cinnamon roll until Chapter 4 where she almost killed everyone) Kiibo (Very unique character considering he's the first robot to enter the world of Danganronpa, he's also up there with Shuichi, Kokichi, and Gonta as one of the most fleshed out characters in Danganronpa V3) Korekiyo Shinguji (He made me very uncomfortable with his weird kinks, his motive for murdering Anjie and Tenko is also noted as the only one that isn't remotely justified, and I like him for that and don't even know why)

Kyosuke Munakata (I hate everything about him, he's so rude and repulsive but never carries out a good intention in the end, I just hate him) 2. Tsumugi Shirogane (Worst V3 character in my opinion bar none, her reveal as mastermind felt very forced and before that, she was the most bland of the V3 cast. She just went from a generic cosplay nerd, to a psychopath with no sympathy for anyone instantaneously) 7. Mikan Tsumiki (She just wants attention and acts like a nurse so she can dress up in uniform without seeming like a slut, her voice is annoying and she has the stupidest motive) 8. Anjie Yonaga (This is where I start to go into the characters I actually don't like btw. I just don't see how Anjie can be likeable, for one it feels like she only exists so Danganronpa can have an ultimate artist. Secondly, her personality just bothers me, her oblivious nature and her brainless actions are annoying to me. Finally she just doesn't have any likeable qualities, she doesn't seem to have any sympathy for the other students and her annoyingly frequent rambles about Atua are pointless to the story) 9. Sayaka Maizono (Sayaka is just a boring character, she's really the only character in the franchise where I can't think of any complexity or analysis behind. She was Makoto's love interest and the driving force of his character at the start only for her to manipulate Makoto at a failed attempt to frame him) 10. Kirumi Tojo (Meh, not that I dislike Kirumi, she had personality and an interesting backstory, but they could have done better with her character in my opinion, maybe if she didn't die so early into the game, I don't dislike Kirumi, I'm only frustrated how they put very little depth into her character)

Well she did planned to kill the mastermind though so she could escape with everybody and her planned failed so she is considered innocent not a murderer
My top 10 favorite characters 1. Nagito Komaeda, I really like his character. He is one of the best antagonist on the series, and his relationship with hajime is really cute. His character make me feels really, really bad for him, despite hating him when I first play the game. 2. Kaede Akamatsu, I don't really have a good reason why, but first of all, her writing is one of the best in V3, and V3 have really, really bad writing (I don't hate it, its just my personal opinion) her twist being killed first despite we all thought that she was the protagonist is really well written. Oh, and SaiMatsu 3. Kokichi Ouma, should be obvious why, no questions why 4. Kiibo, kiibo is just a Lil innocent child. And his arc/motive is pretty interesting for me. Him being a robot, but having a lot of emotions and feelings. Him wanting more hobbies, and being more than just a robot is just really entertaining for me. 5. Kiyotaka Ishimaru, first of all, hold your bom, *_bear_* with me. Taka, in my opinion is kinda 1 of the most underrated character in my opinion. Not much of people I talk too, likes him, and it sadden me. Taka's relationship with Mondo is really a cherry on the top on why I like him so much, (despite the fact me being an IshiMondo trash *cough cough* ) before chapter 2, I really, really dislike Taka, he is just so annoying, he is very rude, he's kind of a bad version of Iida (I know Taka comes first, but really this is just my first impression) but after chapter 2, I pretty much can't hold my tears every time I see him. He is basically just a shell of his former self, just walking towards death. I really, really wants to see him as a survivor more than Hagakure, he have so many potential arc that could be interesting. 6. Chiaki Nanami, other then the fact of me being a HinaNami trash, she really is a very cute character. Her interaction with Hajime is so cute. And she is just cute in general. I don't,have much to say why I like her, but seeing her really just makes me happy 7. Gundham Tanaka, I really like his dark edgy under world persona and the choices of words he uses, its pretty funny. When he was reveal to be a murderer, it kinda sadden me a lot, and his motive is really just a cherry on the ice cream for me. His execution is also pretty sad, the fact that he cast a spell to protect his hamster, and him just going with his edgy persona to motivated the others to keep on fighting is really, really sad. 8. Kazuichi Soda, I personally don't know why I like him so much. Maybe because he's really funny, or because of his interaction with Sonia, he's just one of those characters who's existence just makes me happy. 9. Kaito Momota, again not that much reason on why I like him. I do find him motivating Saihara pretty cute and funny, and the way Sahara morns for him after his execution is really sad 10. Kyoko Kirigiri, I just notice that I don't have a lot of V1 characters in my top 10 :/ I personally found her really interesting. She gives a very mysterious aura around us. And at first, you're really suspicious of her, but after founding out more about her, especially in her free time events, where she told Makoto about being scared and having emotions. And I like her execution, where most of the time, she doesn't feel any fear or emotions, she's showing heavy fear as she slowly move into her death. This is a good list * - * When I saw Komaeda second I thought Ouma will be the first place haha Also watching your Ouma analysis video made me think that if Komaeda is a messed up Naegi, Ouma could be a messed up Kirigiri - they both wander alone to investigate - they both want to stop the mastermind and believe they might be the only ones most capable to do so - Naegi was (almost) sacrificed in order for Kirigiri to live, while Ouma actually sacrificed two other people in oder for him to live - the group doesn't trust them at all, and this distrust is caused by themselves and because they don't trust the group either I don't know if people thought about this but it came into my mind so I thought I'd share it
Although I have quite an unusual opinion, here goes my list, 1. Ouma Kokichi - he's an amazing character with such an interesting personality, he may be even my favorite character of all time. 2. Tsumugi Shirogane - A fairly unpopular opinion, but I'm a big fan of her. Her plain personality and looks may be boring to some, but for some reason I think of them as genius. 3. Miu Iruma - I really, really hated her character a lot in the past. But after playing the game myself and seeing all her free time events she grew on me. She's a lovable vulgar coward. 4. Kaito Momota - Honestly, this guy is just a cool and optimistic type of a friend I wish I'd have. 5. Mahiru Koizumi - I absolutely adore Mahiru, she may be a big pushover sometimes but she always means well. 6. Saihara Shuichi - This little emo detective is probably my favorite protagonist from all the games. I think he has nice character development. 7. Sayaka Maizono - Some people think she's a horrible person for fooling Makoto and trying to kill Leon, but I just think it just shows how much she loved her friends and what lenghts she'd go for them. 8. K1-B0 - Honestly he has one of the best FTE in my opinion. His character is also very intriguing. 9. Tenko Chabashira - Although she supposedly hates men, she's one of the few people that made effort to encourage and comfort Shuichi after the first trial, I ultimately think she's an amazing person and a sweetheart. 10. Maki Harukawa - I'm pretty confused about her, one second I love her and the next loathe her with my whole being. Her actions in chapter 5 really put me off, as she tried to literally sacrifice everyone in order to kill one person without showing it much remorse.

@Enkhbaatar Anar Huh? I think she could be the best protagonist with her unique personality. Of course protagonists are meant to be normal people in this franchise but Kaede was the most interesting one to me. Just my opinion and yeah that person is annoying telling everyone to put Kaede in 1st place.
Just finished v3 a couple days ago so here’s who were the best to me(1-3 are interchangeable) 1. Shuichi(very personal pick mostly due to the ending) 2. Nagito(fuck I wanna put him at #1 so bad but there’s so many great characters, he literally was my 2nd favorite character of all time until I finished v3 and Shuichi slightly edged him out) 3. Kokichi(yeah yeah I know, he’s amazing, I don’t even need to say anything we all know Kokichi is amazing) 4. Kaito(he’s literally Kamina from Gurren Lagann, had so many great philosophical dialogues) 5. Hajime(just love his backstory, and how he still overcomes everything in 2-6) 6. Chiaki(at first I thought she was just waifu bait as well, but she had so many amazing moments that won me over, like her commentary about belief without doubt) 7. Kyoko(she was just alright to me as well, thought she was pretty ofc lmao but didn’t see too much depth to her character until I did more research, love the themes she represents) 8. Gundam(so fucking funny and his sacrifice in 2-4 is still one of my favorite moments in the series) 9. Himiko(for the same reasons that weeby said she loved Tenko apply to Himiko’s development ten fold. It was incredible to me thinking back how annoying I thought she was in the beginning and how much I loved her in the end) 10. Korekiyo(I realize this is an unconventional pick, trust me I don’t love the incest bit either, but after doing research on him and studying him he’s probably the coolest character concept in the series and had so much potential, just kinda sucks that he was shafted by what I felt to be an underwhelming case :/) This will all probably change as time flows by but I just wanna appreciate how great this series is and how much you can pick apart from this psychological warfare of a game. I love him for everything else, though. 3: Toko Fukawa: She was a character that I just beelined to when I started playing the first game. I also love Genocider. 2: Nekomaru Nidai: He’s such an interesting character. His backstory is super sweet, and he tries to save Akane from Monokuma. He also sacrifices himself for the rest of the characters. 1: Chihiro Fujisaki: Ok I know Chihiro is one of the most popular characters in V1 (possibly ever) but I love him. His weakness complex pulled his character together, along with his frail body and mind. I just love him.
@Lee Stephen, Hiyoko actually has a really bad backstory which doesn’t excuse her actions but better explains why she acted like that. She was bullied a lot growing up and all to become the perfect traditional dancer that her grandmother wanted. Hiyoko at a young age was taken away by her parents and had to like with her strict, and abusive grandmother. The children when she was younger tried to put pins and needles into her shoes before preforming so they could mess up her dancing, but they would also put dead rats in her bed. In my opinion Hiyoko bullies Mikan because she sees herself in Mikan, a fragile girl who’s had to adapt and become mean due to society. And Hiyoko wants to bully her so that Mikan can become stronger and a less meek character. (Sorry for the long paragraph, I just really like Hiyoko and her character as a whole.)
@@debunkintheories922 Just wanted to say that the heroes of hope had WAY worse shit happen to them (one of them even got molested and sent into child prostitution for fuck sake) and they don't even act like Hiyoko does. In my personal beliefs, no matter how much shit you went through, it does not give anyone the right to treat innocents like shit. Hiyoko is the only character throughout all of danganronpa that I was happy when she was killed. Fuck Hiyoko.
@@cbored3778 I’m not doubting that the Warriors of hope went through less shit than Hiyoko did. I never said that. Hiyoko faces far less than they did but still had an experience with some of the things that they delt with, it was just less intense.
@@debunkintheories922 I was using that as an example since they went through worse and yet are somehow more pleasant than Hiyoko whilst still being the villains. Hiyoko is supposed to be a good guy and yet is somehow less likeable. Her background does not excuse her behaviour and actions at all.

dindin plays crazy I really really love Kaede. She is one of my favourite Character and I cried after the trial. But I really like Oma cause of his special character. He is so interesting and he had his own way to rescue everyone. Don't you think so?! :)
Every character in all of the games ranked because I hate myself (I’m only ranking them in their own games though because it would take long to fully rank everyone) Don't click read more unless you're really brave Dr1(I actually love all these characters, its my favorite of the casts) 16. Maizono - Oh Maizono, her existence is short lived and I shall never forgive her for betraying Naegi 15. Hagakure - He’s a terrible person in reality, but does have some really funny moments 14. Yamada - He was actually interesting, and is only this low because he never got any development, because of the injustice Trial 3 did him 13. 11037 - I have mixed feelings about him, but he gets this spot for an epic post trial and execution (also for killing Maizono) 12. Naegi - The bland boi himself, Naegi is actually a pretty cool protagonist who gets overshadowed by the others 11. Sakura - I love Sakura, but she really should have handled that suicide better, because she was counting on Asahina telling the group and them believing her 10. Celes - The gothic Lolita was awesome, I’m just still salty about the 3rd trial and her terrible acting 9. Oowada - The pompadour king who... nope that’s it 8. Togami - He’s an asshole, albeit a hilarious asshole, and I’m not even sure why I put him this high, but my hands refuse to place him lower 7. Junko - I really don’t like her beyond the first game, but this is my ranking of the characters in the first game, and her character not only has a great twist, but was a joy to watch in the first game, especially considering how she’s a villain who has completely unjustified motives, which was a nice break from form 6. Kirigiri - I know that it’s practically a sin to not put her in at least the top 3, I just appreciated the following characters more, and she needs no explanation for why she’s awesome 5. Asahina - She’s not the brightest, but her bubbly attitude was what kept the game from just dragging on towards the finale 4. Fujisaki - THE MOST PRECIOUS CINNAMON BUN!!!!!! 3. Ikusaba - I know that this is supposed to just be a ranking of the game, but for her I have to count IF, and she’s awesome in IF 2. Fukawa/Genocider - A really great interesting character, although a complete psychopath, and also a good source of comic relief, she's my favorite female character in the series 1. Ishimaru - He was my favorite character from the start, I relate to him so much. He’s funny and had some cool development, is one of the few genuinely nice people from the first game, and the 3rd trial did him such an injustice, he's my favorite character overall (Also I'm Ishimondo trash) Dr2 (Actually has my least favorite cast even though I still love most of them) 17. I'm adding Junko here because making her the mastermind again really PEEVES ME OFF 16. Akane - Joking aside she's one of the few characters I actively dislike, because for me they took the worse parts of Asahina, (Boobs, food, and stupidity) and ramped it up to 100, and I feel like I could tolerate her more if she wasn't a survivor 15. Saionjii - I don't hate Saionjii like most people, it was just that once her arc started she died immediately and I was purely indifferent on her beforehand 14. Teruteru - He's a pervy chef 13. Mikan - She's a pervy nurse, but in all honesty I like Mikan, and I think she's one of the saddest characters, I just like the following characters better 12. Twogami - His character had a great twist, but we don't get to interact with him enough for me to put him higher 11. Peko Pekoyama - She would be the best character in the series if her name wasn't so dumb (I'm kidding of course but that was the deciding factor for her not being 10th) 10. Souda-chan - He's the Ultimate Bro, he's a bit quirky and a bit dull but was fun to have around 8. Mechomaru - He was just the best, and he has a pretty cool story to boot 7. Ibuki - Ibuki was awesome, but she just doesn't have enough development to be put higher for me 6. Chiaki - I know that it’s practically a sin to not put her in at least the top 3, I just appreciated the following characters more, and she needs no explanation for why she’s awesome 5. Kuzuryu - If the 2nd post trial wasn't sad then I don't know what is, but Kuzuryu is such a great character 4. Mahiru - I guess I really love the 2nd victims, but she has some of the cutest FTE's in the series and I wish she wasn't axed so soon, she is the number 1 waifu 3. Komaeda - BAGELS!!!!!!! 2. Hinata/Izuru - He's a great protagonist with such a sad, relatable story, but he's also bland boi 2.0 1. The Supreme Overlord of Ice - Tanaka was awesome, and his trial was the hardest in the entire series for me, plus his hamsters are adorable, plus he was actually pretty useful, plus okay I'll stop Quick mentions Nagisa Chisa Komaru Kotoko The Great Gozu DrV3 (Also has great characters, I just prefer Dr1's cast because they are way more flawed) 16. Keeboy - I don't know, his schtick got old fast for me, I didn't find him that interesting, and he was just Naegi for me but not the protagonist, although I loved his role in the 6th trial 15. Kirumi - For me she's just kind of an average character, mostly because I had been banking on her as a killer from the start, but her post trial was fucking epic 14. Ryoma - He's pretty cool, I really like him, he was just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy too 3edgy5me (Did you think that would be a "Still got a ways to go reference?") 13. GuacAmami (I'm not sorry) - He's really just a genuinely nice interesting character that I really want to hear the backstory of 12. Angie - I loved her up until she started a cult 11. Seesaw daddy - He gets bonus points for dismantling the cult 10. Tsumugi - V3 mastermind needs more love, cuz she was a really cool villain in my opinion, she was even more sporadic than Junko 9. Kaito - I really do like Kaito, I just think that his logic was so hypocritical in the 2nd trial, how he believed in Maki for literally no reason, but didn't believe Kirumi who had been more helpful up to that point, because thinking with your dick might get everyone killed 8. ChineeseCowy the fifth trial ruined her character for me a bit. Because right before that chapter, she said how she wants to work hard so the others would trust her. And she goes and tries to kill them all in ch5 without showing too much remorse. If they showed her struggling with the idea of killing them, or if she was willing to sacrifice them to save someone else rather than - i want to kill Kokichi no matter what - that would make more sense in the context of her char arc. What i'm trying to say i guess is - I think the 5th trial messed up her character arc a bit i guess 😅 Edit: missed a word xD
I'm just gonna post my top 4 here, since, you know, everybody else is/has. 4. Miu Iruma. Say what you will, but Miu is funny as hell. Maybe it's saying something, but I feel like if you replaced all of her not-horny dialogue with the kind of shit I say on a daily basis, it would still be 99.99% in character. 3. Kokichi Oma. I mean, he may be a pathological liar that definitely has some sort of flavor of psychopathy, but he's hilarious, so I don't really care. That coupled with his sick clothes quickly made him a favorite of mine. (Besides, he's kinda cute too.) 2. Yasuhiro Hagakure. Once again, he's fucking funny. Somehow, that awkward little detective Saihara became my favorite character. Hated him at first but the confidence he showed that literally destroyed an empire by the end just made me love him. Your list is still good though and totally understand all your choices!
I feel the same. At the beginning I hated him because of Kaede's death, but then I understand him and I begin to love him because of his development. He is my favorite Danganronpa Character of all.

My top 10 since everyone else is doing it 10: Celeste (the reason why I love her this much is because of how *wack* she is in the 3rd trial when defending her innocence) 9: sayaka (I would have liked her more if she lived longer and maybe didn’t betray the wonderful cinnamon roll that is Makoto) 8: mukuro ( I would’ve strongly liked her more than junko if only she had more screen time like sayaka, but also some sprites of her own that don’t resemble junko) 7: junko (amazing villain 10/10. Nobody made me feel satisfied about an execution before) 6: k1-b0 ( Kiibo is my favourite character from v3 as I favour more characters from 1 and 2. I wanted to put him here to add some diversity to the list) 5: komaru ( komaru as she is my second favourite protagonist and my favourite character from drae, I’m glad that her relationship with toko could really help her become the great character she is today) 4: Makoto ( A part of me thinks it’s a crime to like someone so bland like Makoto, but everyone likes Hajime so I guess I’m in the clear. He is a complete cinnamon roll if I have ever seen one with the perfect amount of optimism to survive a killing game) 3: chiaki. Here’s my ten: Respect my opinion and I’ll respect yours SPOILERS 10) Ibuki: Compare to other character, she’s doesn’t deserve to be rank this high and I wish she had more development, but I love her personality, designs, she was useful in the trials and she was overall a fun-likable character. 9) Kokichi: I fucking hate him, yet I love him. He was the most entertaining character in V3 and was SO well written. I hated him so much for what he done to Gonta but he was such a cool anti-hero. 8) Kaitō: Agree, one of the most likable character but he rank low on my list because I found him so frustrating in Chap4. But he was so lovable, I love his talent and he was so impactful to the main story and Shuichi’s development. 7) Junko: SHSL VILLAIN!!! I honestly didn’t care for her until analyzing her, but she is amazing villain in the franchises, her design is iconic and her lust for despair is much deeper than we thought. 6) Chiaki: Sweet character, Waifu material, she was helpful in trials and entertaining to watch. I love both her AI and anime counterpart and it was sad to see her go. 5) Kyoko: Took me a while to like her character because I personally think she’s bland, but that’s the point of her character as it relates to her family’s code. Amazing design, hero of the story and cute personality. 4) Fuyuhiko/Himiko: I love these two for the same reasons so I’m putting them on the same spot. Both were unlikable to me at first but got hella development. I enjoyed watching these two grow and what they stand for. It was so entertaining to watch them on further trial and glad both survives. 3) Toko/Genocider: Genocider was overall cool and gotta love her abridge persona. Toko took me a while to like but damn she got her own game where her character was redeemed. In her game she was fun to watch, her backstory is heart-breaking and just misunderstood. Prime example of true character development. 2) Tenko: Tenko was my favorite from the pre-release of the character designs. Her hatred for men was risky to write but I think they did a good job in writing her character. She’s a deep character, a best friend that everyone should have, love her talent and I love her final words. She was caring too. I want her to survive so BADLY from the start but you know Danganrompa-logic. her death was just so unfair. 1) Hajime: Hajime was a wonderful protagonist and just like him, I have a very bad inferior complex. I want to be special, don’t want to be average and I get depressed about it just like Hajime. Hajime’s struggle resonated with me the way Kaede related to Weeby, I truly bonded with him. His arc with Izuru was so interesting and I love everything about it. Hajime is handsome, deep, received a lot of development and come on who doesn’t love Johnny Yong Bosch? Amazing character but then again all of them are amazing. Thank you Weeby for another great video :)

I think Oumas popularity is explained easily: first off the trying to understand him and spending time with it makes u have a bond with him you try to understand him more than any other character bc hes one of the most complicated characters also bc v3 is new and hyped + it has more views I think but yeah the analysing makes u bond with a character and trying to defend them too (And maybe you forget about the previous game characters bc its so long ago that you played the game etc)

I don't exactly have a top 10 list, as I don't really like the practice of setting a particular standard of measurement, or comparing two things I like side by side, especially when I like them for completely different reasons. This goes for characters as well as games in general and anything else I could like or dislike. That being said, I can still talk about some of the characters I would consider my favorites from the series, even if I refuse to arbitrarily decide which one I like the best. To begin with, the way I look at Danganronpa first and foremost is as a vehicle for genre deconstruction and reconstruction. This is what I consider to be the underlying theme that holds together all Danganronpa games, regardless of what different message the story is touting. Genre deconstruction is primarily a film analysis term that refers to when a film goes out of it's way to force elements of a genre into itself, often in an extreme, overblown fashion or in situations that don't make sense, usually to highlight the absurdity of the trope or call to attention how frequently it is used within the genre. Parody also falls under this umbrella term. It's usually about taking overused trope and making fun of them, or harshly criticizing them. Genre "reconstruction" is slightly different. It still focuses on the tropes of a given genre, but instead of making fun of them, it turns those tropes on their head, setting up and then defying the trope to support the narrative better. Like, in Gurren Lagaan, a shonen-ey super robot show had an expectation at the time for the heroes to unstoppably tear through anything in their path on their way to the ending, but Gurren Lagaan took this expectation and defied it by killing off it's most prominent character, which was made all the more shocking due to how unexpected it was, since it tricked the audience into thinking it was falling in line with the standard tropes of it's genre. A film like "Shawn of the Dead" is a 'genre deconstruction', and a film like "Pacific Rim" is a 'genre reconstruction'. So why does this matter? Well, Danganronpa is *both* a deconstruction and a reconstruction. So is Doki Doki Literature Club, for that matter. Danganronpa uses tropes from all over the place. It uses character tropes, storytelling tropes, mystery tropes, and tropes from any genre it happens to include at any point in the games. It stretches those tropes to extreme degrees, mocks itself for being trashy manga trope-filled drivel, then turns it all around to create something new by defying those tropes or adding onto them. With that setup out of the way, the characters I most like from Danganronpa are Makoto, Ouma, Komaeda, Himiko, Monokuma, and Toko. Mostly, I wanna talk about Himiko and Makoto to explain why these two are favorites, since I like the Ouma and Komaeda for pretty much the same reasons everybody loves Ouma and Komaeda, and Monokuma is the essence of Danganronpa and trope deconstruction to begin with. Toko is also a really clever reconstruction of the yandere trope, but as I'm not as familiar with other yandere characters, pointing out the creative changes made to her that defy the expectations of a typical yandere is not something I feel qualified to do. So, after the longest preparation to a mostly pointless "favorite characters list" ever, here we go. Ma boi Makoto first and foremost. The original Danganronpa, being the first, had to immediately establish it's tone of presenting an extremely generic anime/manga production but changing the formula to make things interesting. Danganronpa starts with the most generic-as-fuck visual novel introduction in history, with a panning shot of the town and a straight exposition dump about this bullshit school full of amazing people, and presenting it's completely boring, ordinary protagonist, but it goes out of it's way to express how *extremely* ordinary Makoto is, almost to the point where he becomes abnormal and difficult to relate to, which is the opposite of the purpose of making such a generic character as the lead. They present an extreme version of this overused style of protagonist that ends up having very different effects from the trope it's based off of to begin with. Makoto has no extreme abilities or personality traits compared to any of the other characters. He doesn't have anything that could be considered unique. He's just the typical happy-go-lucky nice-guy optimistic main-character-boy. But this is where the deconstruction stops and the reconstruction begins. As I already said before, one aspect of taking apart overused tropes is to present them in situations where it no longer makes sense for them to appear. This is the crux of the creativity around Makoto as the protagonist. They're taking the very basic overused template of a happy-go-lucky main character, and shoving him into a situation so dire and hopeless that every other character gives in to despair, especially in the final class trial. They're using this attribute that these samey main characters all have that nobody ever thinks anything of (their upbeat optimism), and presenting it as the most important trait in the world: the Ultimate Hope. They creatively find a way to take this trope of visual novel protagonists and make it the most important element of the story. That's radical. It fits so perfectly. Of course, Hajime and Saihara are also reconstructions of other main character tropes, such as Hajime's brash and overly serious personality where he has a stick up his ass all the time, but I feel like Makoto's is still the most fundamentally creative twist on the trope they used for him. Himiko is the best. Like, we all understand this, right? Well, Himiko is a decon/recon of the "Deadpan Loli" character trope, a personal favorite of mine. These are loli girls that lack emotional expression and general act in a deadpan manner in all situations, for the sake of cuteness and comedy. However, they take this, poke fun at it for being aloofness and laziness, and then turn it around, and take the personality trope that's usually just a meaningless character quirk, and make it an actual character arc for Himiko, explaining how she tries to suppress her own emotions, why she acts the way she does out of fear/sadness, and classing her personality against the progression of the narrative, making Himiko's deadpan loli trope become not just a comedy gag, but a detriment to the group and to herself that Tenko and the others try to cure her of, eventually allowing her to grow out of this deadpan loli curse and become a more energetic and expressive person. (to which Monokuma says "she lost what made her unique", implying that she lost the character trope she was based on). But Himiko continues to be an extremely likable character and has some of the most diverse and inventive comedy throughout the entire game. There are definitely other characters that I love the deconstructions of. I love Sonia as an Ojou decon/recon. I love Ouma as a Komaeda decon/recon. I love Komaeda as a Makoto/Togami decon/recon (but I don't love those charaters quite AS much as I love Makoto and Himiko, simply because they're mainly reconstructions of tropes within the Danganronpa fiction, and not tropes that just exist and are prominent in manga and anime, like all the others are). I wish I loved Gundham, but unfortunately, I played Steins;Gate before I ever played DR2, and Okabe is just an infinitely more complex reconstruction of the Chuunibyou trope than Gundham is, even though he's also really good too. And beyond that, I'm sure there are more characters that I'd love just as much if I were well versed enough in those Japanese writing tropes to recognize all the character tropes and how they're being modified for every character. But anyways, those are the characters I like the most, and why I like them. Sure, I also like Kaede and Saihara and those others a lot too, because they're awesome, likable characters, but in the creativity of Danganronpa's writing as a commentary on the tropes of it's genres, the characters I described are definitely special beyond just being likable people. EDIT: This is also why Junko makes the perfect villain for the first game. Not only is she very unique and not what someone would expect of the mastermind of the killing game, once again defying those tropes and expectations that the tired writing of anime and manga have taught us, but Junko's motivations also reflect this theme of breaking apart boring tropes and stereotypes. Junko has become bored of the predictability of the world, and believes that destroying the harmony and creating chaos is the only way to make things interesting again. This should have obvious-ass comparisons to the idea of anime/manga consumers becoming bored of the endless reuse of the same tropes and genre elements with nothing new, perfectly predictable, completely boring. But our heroes, who have evolved from their own tropes to create something new and interesting, prove to Junko that hope can still win; that there is still more to writing to be explored that will make it worthwhile and bring hope to the people. That's pretty fuckin' cool, right there. As Kodaka said in his post-V3 interviews, he wanted to express his belief with V3's ending that fiction is something extremely important, and shouldn't be dismissed as "not real" or "meaningless". He wanted to show that just because it's fiction, it's impact is still very real. This belief is at the heart of his expansion of Japanese anime/manga writing through the exploration of these overused tropes.
I also wanna stress that the theme of Danganronpa is *not* about following hope. Rather, every game has such a different commentary on hope that it can't be considered a consistent theme. The first game, sure. The second game takes these beliefs in hope and makes them interesting again, using elements like Komaeda to make you question whether or not hope is really a good thing, and Hajime uses this to realize that the "hope" he's being told to follow is just as bullshit as the despair they were forced to endure, so instead, he moves towards a future of his own making. In V3, it's very obvious that the push towards "following hope" is NOT what's being recommended, as the "hope" to escape the killing game and the "hope" of the world is what perpetuates this bullshit system that forces people to suffer. In the DR3 anime, the entire thing is about a bunch of ideals clashing because they all have different interpretations of what "hope" is in the first place. Kodaka was never trying to send a real message with anything he did with hope and despair, as he said that he wrote DR1 and 2 with the pure intention of entertainment, and that the only one he put a real message in was V3. All the games contradict each other's messages, because they aren't actually trying to teach the player something about hope and despair, they're using it as a storytelling device, and a generalization of how the stories it's using tropes from are told. That's why I consider the deconstruction and reconstruction of tropes to be the true theme of the series, as the consistent "message" they all have in common.

Great list! My top 10 from the one I like the least (though I still love) to my favourite 10: Leon. A very nice character with a good bit of stuff behind him. Too bad he died so early because Sayaka was a b**ch and made him accidentally stab her. 9: Byakuya. He may be an ass (especially in chapter 2) but I still really like him. He has a pretty good backstory and he has become nicer, if only to Makoto. 8: Kokichi. Honestly, until the fifth trial I hated him. After that though his actions there made me grow to like him, but I still don’t like him enough to put him higher 7. Fuidhiko(forgot the spelling) and Peko. These two are just to adorable! The scene before Peko’s death gets me every time! I like these two the same. 6. Chiaki. Before I would have put her higher, but a reviewer who did Danganronpa 2 pointed out a lot of problems with her that were true, so while I still like her, I don’t like her as much as I used to. 5. Toko. She was a complete b**ch in the first game, but her development in another episode really helped me like her a lot. 4. Shuichi. The hell he has to go through throughout the entire game may be even worse than Hajimae’s hell in some ways. He still has his funny moments and is really likeable, so he’s defiantly my favourite protagonist. 3. Kyoko. A complete badass! I honestly felt she was a better main character than Makoto to be honest. And while I wished she showed a bit more emotion, and her ‘thing’ in the 3 anime kinda turned me away from her a bit, I still really like her. 2. Nagito. I swear if V3 never happened he’d be number 1. He’s well fleshed out, entertaining, creepy when he needed to be, and pulled of the craziest murder in the series. I just love this crazy bastard! Also really like his backstory. 1. Kaito. Total. Bro. He always has Shuichi’s back, and when he doesn’t he’s just trying to do the right thing, he’s entertaining, he has a great rivalry with Kokichi and is half of my favourite couple in the series with Maki. Honestly, while there are some problems with him, in this case, I love him too much to care
imo Sayaka wasnt a "bitch".When Monokuma showed their their video tapes of their lovee ones dead,it drove her crazy and that why she had a plan to murder leon and frame makoto at first.But then,during their battle,Sayaka realized that it would be cruel and eventually her moment of hesitation led to her death.

Okay so I wanted to write down my top favorite characters and why I love them, and not only I could not do a top 10, but I also rambled too much about Shuichi ^^’ So I am gonna make this a Shuichi appreciation comment instead, if anyone reads this and is interested on why I love the other characters, feel free to ask :3 (btw SPOILERS of V3!!!!) Shuichi is often dismissed as simply being a “new protag”, “cinnamon roll” or “emo detective uwu” and sometimes we can see some “he’s relatable” or “good character development” here and there (which is at least something ^^’) He gets a lot of attention and recognition (some even say he is “overrated”) but not necessarily for the reasons I love him so much for. 1. Shuichi Best character development I have seen in the whole franchise. He started off as quite a solid character, analytical yet empathetic and with a little bit of lack of self-esteem (that was explained) that made him intriguing. He genuinely loves what he does (see in the free time events in Kaede route), it is only his past that tarnished his view on detective work. I find this aspect of him deep, in the sense that bad experiences build you and your view on the world. It is pathetic in some way that the thing he is good at, that he is meant to do and most of all that he loves doing, brings him misery (and I also love his passionate side). Yet with the help of others, he is able to become stronger, more confident. And what I admire of him is that he is also able to get stronger from his solitude and misery. He decided to value the truth more, to value his detective work, which in the end indirectly killed Kaede (I also adore the parallel that was made between the fact that the truth always brought him misery: from his first case and from Kaede’s death). Yet he still pursues it because it is the right thing to do, and he wants to protect everyone. Which is admirable, considering that the truth left him hurt multiple times, but he still decides to confront it out of selflessness. His selflessness sometimes even pushed him to be used by the others (but not in the bad way, and not against his will), and other times he distanced himself from the group to pursue the better interest (4th trial notably). He is a useful character for everyone, and he becomes aware of it which make him stronger. Yet he doesn’t forget the fact that he is only useful in a tragic situation (when a death occurs), which proves his critical thinking even of himself (he doesn’t lack confidence just for the sake of it, he is aware of his and his talent’s limits). He has strong values which he doesn’t push onto people, but he defends them nonetheless. He is able to see further than what meets the eye (he is able to discern good or bad hope in the last trial for example) and makes his choices accordingly. (Even if in some way I don’t think he ever discovered Kokichi’s true intentions, though he seems to be aware of the fact that he missed out something. But it is not relevant for this ^^’). He is not afraid of change and challenges, and he faces them head on and willingly (whether it is to train with Kaito despite not being sporty just to better himself and to get closer to his friend, or to fight against the whole world to stop the killing game). And even after all the description of how amazing he is, given his story, situation, and actions, he still remains relatable, which makes him more aspiring for the players. We can all become better with or without others, whether we do good or bad things, the most important is to learn from our past and act according to our experience. We need to know what should be done (by knowing the “truth”) and then we can decide whether it is better to follow our duty or to find a different path. Shuichi is an example of how to make mature choices open-mindedly by staying rational yet true to your beliefs. On a shallower level, I find his design fitting, he looks cute (I have a thing for blushing guys), his English voice is stunning, and I would die for his smile. ^^ 2. Kokichi 3. Nagito 4. Sakura 5. not in any “most favorite to least favorite” order, but here’s my 2-year late, not-proofread, and unnecessarily lengthy list of my top 10 characters in danganronpa: 1) shuichi saihara. i find myself relating to shuichi because of the kind of awkward but reserved personality we share until it’s our time to get serious and do what we’re good at. i really liked his character development following kaede’s death and his relationship with kaito, too. also i’m just a sucker for pretty emo boys lmao. 2) makoto naegi. he’s just so good, i can’t not love him?? to me, he’s that sweet, easily likeable protag, which i think stalks up to how intimate thh felt with makoto’s thoughts and feelings. thh’s writing just made it feel like we’re really connected with makoto, and i think that connection is another reason i like him so much! srsly tho, i would just get so excited whenever he came up in goodbye despair & udg, and i almost cried at his execution in thh lol. 3) nagito komaeda. yeah, i also have a special spot for crazy boys eheh. as i’m sure you’ve heard from several other people, his writing is just so well done and compelling i can’t stop myself from always wanting to know more about him. it seems like every aspect about him is a mystery, other than his very clear obsession with hope. but even then, that region is a little foggy, too, because of the backhanded things he does to achieve such perfect hope that he lusts for. the distances he’s willing to go on the side of despair just to achieve that hope is really what makes nagito so interesting to me. 4) k1-b0. kiibo = baby boy. that’s it. ok no my heart broke when he sacrificed himself to save shuhimaki at the end of drv3 like omg the way his character grew so much so quickly. the way he appeared to be just some underwhelming yet emotional robot capable of reason for most of the game only to become this super powered savior willing to put his life on the line for the greater good was totally awesome. just the concept of a robot fighting so determinedly for a hope that should’ve been beyond sentiment machinery like him was so cool to begin with, and when he was playable as a protag and pretty much became hope i was just completely floored. also his voice is so cute! he entertained me a good bit with his emphasis on robophobia lol. 5) gonta gokuhara. i just love adorable oblivious boys/gentle giants too much. gonta pretty much instantly won his way into my heart when we first met him as kaede. his backstory and selfless character throughout the story is just so sad yet so endearing! and don’t even talk to me about his trial, that was probably the most painful part of v3 other than the revelation of that ending. i couldn’t forgive kokichi for a good while. and, thus, that brings us to #6, 6) kokichi ouma. i forgave him eventually, yk? while i didn’t really like him on my first watching of v3 bc i couldn’t understand him, after watching videos on him and reading canon content i became aware of his greater intentions and deeper character that he tries so hard to hide from the other ultimates, and my opinion evolved to a loving one. now he’s one of my faves, mainly bc he was properly entertaining in the game and bc of sympathy. i feel so bad for grape fanta boy, and wish he’d gotten better than he received in v3. 7) komaru naegi. ?? there’s an unreasonable absence of girls on this list. for pretty much the same reasons as makoto, i had to fall in love with komaru as well. ofc that’s to say i also love her bc she was different from makoto, not being another copy of the ultimate hope but simply komaru naegi, who would work hard to repair the world herself one step at a time. i keep saying this but character!! development!!! komaru’s was so good!!!!! how she went from a lacking, ordinary high school girl to a badass public influence. honestly i just love the naegi siblings a looot. with their naturally likeable personalities and their cute relationship with each other, they’re both favorites in my book! 8) touko fukawa. ur seeing this recurring trend of protags, cinnamon rolls and psychos/antiheroes, too, right? yeah... i’m the same with weeby newz in that i didn’t like her first time watching thh. but udg really opened up my eyes. she underwent such a good character development in that game, like pessimistic cowardly touko growing up to light a fire in the unconfident sister of the ultimate hope? YES. and her relationship with komaru is just one i so adore and can see lasting forever. genocider, ofc, is always fun to see and i’m always looking forward to when she has her screentime, too. 9) hajime hinata. just. wonderful writing. wonderful character. wonderful backstory, wonderful development, wonderful oj, wonderful protagonist. just. hajime hinata. yes. 10) byakuya togami. i love this piece of shit. he’s a jerk done right, unlike, in my opinion, hiyoko, who, to me, was just generally unlikeable (but i do acknowledge that she didn’t exactly get to have her full redemption arc). i love how he turns from this kind of antagonist to one of the remnants of hope but still manages to be a cold, blunt asshole. seeing him die in goodbye despair, my resolve was truly broken. i didn’t want to watch the rest of the game. i’m glad i did tho, ofc, and was v relieved to see that he was still alive. just love his consistency. one of the only okay jerks in my book. if i had to list my top 15, my other five would be sonia, kyoko, miu, maki, and kotoko! thanks for reading!

i liked chiaki's portrayal in the anime. since hajime was the main character in the game and the anime focused on their class before the tragic incident, the class needed a leader since hajime was a normal student at the time. she lead the class well as class rep and spent a lot of time with hajime outside of class. she taught him that life's more than just being really good at one thing. the fact that her classmates admired her leadership added more despair to see her get killed in such a gruesome way, eliminating their hope. i almost liked the anime version better than the game version
My personal top 10 1. Hajime Hinata - I find his straightforwardness to be very appealing 2. Kokichi Ouma - The most interesting and chaotic character I've ever known, really fun and painful to watch and observe 3. Makoto Naegi - Cause he's very compassionate and caring, puts other before himself, I cried at the first and last chapter 4. 10. Kyoko Kirigiri - Her design is the most beautiful design I’ve seen in the game. The thing is I don’t feel too attached to her. I can’t really relate to her and that’s why I can’t really like her as much as the others. Although, I do like how she’s mostly the one who saves everyone in the class trials. 9. Sonia Nevermind - I like her. She’s a really relatable character and she has some funny moments. Her scenes with Gundham are definitely my favorite. Though, I don’t feel too connected to her, which is why she’s pretty low. 8. Akane Owari - The moment I saw her I knew I would love her. She reminded me of Aoi so seeing her instantly made me like her. I love how energetic she is and her love for food. The thing that is mostly holding her in my top 10 is her relationship with Nekomaru. I just really like Akane and Nekomaru. 7. Kiibo - I love, love, love Kiibo. He’s extremely adorable and just thinking about his death makes me extremely sad. I never thought much about him in the beginning but later in the story, I LOVED him. I’m sad that he didn’t get much development before though. He was just there, being a robot. I still love him though. 6. Chiaki Nanami - I love Chiaki a lot as well. I’m glad they touched upon her character in the anime. Her little twist too in the game was pretty neat as well. Her design is really cute too. I feel like I’m more attached to her than Kirigiri. Toko/Genocide Jill/Jack/Syo- Her split personality definitely took me for a turn and I love her concept 8.) 1. Shuichi Saihara. Fucking hell, do I love him with my entire heart. Mainly because he reminds me strongly of myself and I relate to him very easily, his character development is great. 2. Kokichi Ouma/Nagito Komaeda. I can't choose between them but I do love them both for how deep their characters can go. 3. Hajime Hinata. I really like his development throughout the game, I hated him at first but I really loved him at the end of the game. 4. Kaito Momota. He's just a genuinely good guy imo, flawed views but great intentions. And the way he did lift Shuichi up was just amazing imo. 5. Miu Iruma. I really don't have anything deep with her, she was just a very fun character to have around and I enjoyed her interactions with Kokichi. 6. Gundham Tanaka. He's really cute and I believe that he tried to help everyone in the fourth trial so I found that quite admirable. 7. Kiibo. I found him to be a very enjoyable character and cute, he was just very likable imo. 8. Rantaro Amami. Not much basis on this but I just thought he was interesting and vague, I feel like he was lost potential and could have been a lot more interesting. 9. Toko Fukawa. I haven't seen all of Ultra Despair Girls but from what I've seen so far, I've come to love her. She's just really interesting and entertaining, plus her flaws seem really realistic and portrayed well. 10. Byakuya Togami. I think he could have done with some more character development but I enjoyed his character in the game and enjoyed his backstory.
I really liked Gundham too. Even before the trial he was one of my favorites. To me it seemed like he didn't necessarily sacrifice himself just to save the others but it was pretty close to that. He picked the option where he either kills Nekomaru and gets away with it or gets executed as opposed to all of them just dying for no good reason. Especially in is speech about life and - what's the point of living if you're just waiting til you die. That line made me like him even more because we hadn't really seen this serious side of him. I didn't really expect his character to make me think about the value of life so i was a bit taken aback. Ofc this is just my opinion
I loved his speeches, plus he might have commited the murder but he never was a coward or sneaky about it, played fair and manned up against mechamaru on a actual fight, won fair and square defending himself, killed him nonetheless but not with tricks or whatever....

My list SPOILERS: Kokichi Ouma: Even if he lied and was selfish and much more I can see he is a sweet person somehow. Gundham Tanaka: Tbh I am literally in love with him for no reason- he is just so sweet to me 🥺 Kiyotaka Ishimaru: He is just that one character that always can make me cry. In chapter 2 I balled my eyes out. I feel so bad for him and I love him so much, he deserved better. Angie Yonaga: I know a lot of people hate her but I really like her because she is so passionate to praise and respect atua it actually inspires me to take faith in what you do. And personally, I just love her. Junko Enoshima: okay shes our main villain and I just love her. She is just amazing. Kotoko Ustugi: I just feel so dang bad for her. The whole gentle thing really makes me sad. She also deserved better. Byakuya Togami: okay him being the biggest jerk makes me love him so much. Now he is at number 7 because of what he did with Chihiro. Now that, was messed up. Chihiro Fujisaki: he is a big idol for me. Hiyoko Sainji (i spelled her name wrong) The way she bullied Mikan because she was disguised seeing someone like herself. She knows her flaws but doesn't like others understand or know. Her backstory almost made me cry. The way her family made her bad at everything expect dancing made me feel sorry for the female antag. 7. Nagito Komeada? (I suck at spelling his name) I enjoy how you have no clue what he will do next and his death is just so surprising. 6. Celestia Ludenburg/Teako Yasuhiro I just love how she lies. She might not lie as much as Kokichi but she is better at it with making it sound true. How she snapped in trial three and her exuection and design are just.. *hot* I'm sorry- 5. Mikan Tsumiki I love how she went from a victim almost,to a killer. Even if she killed my two favorites while also making me also love her at the same time. And how her hair is cut. Aswell as Hiyoko. 4. Chihiro Fujisaki just a small bean who deserved so much. His backstory on how and why he crossdressed to not get bullied breaks my heart. Baby deserved so much. And I love his design 3. Maki Harukawa just how she was dragged away and has never loved anyone and the first person she does killed in such a brutal way. I felt horrible for her. 2. Kokichi Oma MY FAVORITE MAKE CHARACTER IN THE SERIES- he was so interesting and his design is memorable. As a liar myself I enjoyed the liar and mask he held. How he seemed like a heartless lair when he willingly died for everyone still alive. His relationship with Saihara is quiet adorable and he deserved to be happy. He was super tied with number one. 1. Ibuki Mioda to me she is slightly underrated compared to Chiaki. Her beta and ingame design are amazing. She did die early in but her happy personality made me happy. How she understand her flaws and appreciated them. Like how Hiyoko told her "Good thing your ears are good because your style,music,and personality totally suck!" And her replying with "Ooooh! You've cut me deep with your words of truth!" Showing how she might agree with Hiyoko but is still happy with herself and her flaws. I'm honestly sad she died but she is my favorite in the whole series.

My TOP 10 are! 10.) Byakuya Togami - The reason is cause he starts to care for the friends he made in game at the end. After 4th trial, he sees that people aren't as black and white as he originally thought and changes. Yes he's still snarky but he's honest about his feelings towards everyone. 9.) Tenko Chabashira - Yeah orginally I didn't like her. The whole man hating thing got so annoying and made me mad. But right after the first exacution, she was standing up for Shuichi and kept standing up for him and giving him good advice. So that fact that she can be nice to men just makes her likeable. She better than a certain red-haired girl who never said one nice thing to any male character. 8.) Kaito Momota - Yeah the soul bro of V3. The fact he tries to encourage the others and especially Shuichi, just makes him great. However I do have issues with a couple of his ideals. One is in the third trial where he says "Its your fault for believing in them." That just makes it feel like he's the type to victim shame someone with that line. But never the least Kaito is great and has some funny lines. 7.) Makoto Naegi - He's so strong. I mean, even though he was betrayed he still doesn't give up hope. He carries the memories of the people he lost and uses them to keep looking forward. 6.) Chihiro Fujisaki - He's really just so relatable to me. I'm a guy who's not strong either and growing up I was insecure about. The fact that he went through it as well just made me like him. We are just so similar (except I would never dress as a girl). 5.) Kokichi Oma - I was very interested in his character. I never got mad at him (except after trial 4 for what he did to Gonta). Even though he did a lot of bad things, he knew there where bad but thought that was the only right thing to do. He thought mercy killing the others was the only way to save them from the killing game. He wasn't insane like Nagito, just misguided. In which makes Kokichi more likable then Nagito for me. 4.) Himiko Yumeno - Out of all the survivors in all of the Danganronpa, she was and still is the most shocking to survivor for me. I was so sure she was going to be killed. She just screamed victim to me. But during the 3rd trial, she started to change her mentality and become stronger just made her so great. I'm gald she lived. 3.) Maki Harukawa - I feel like she's the most realistic character in Dangonronpa series. Only cause from the beginning she didn't have the foolish mentality that being friends means there won't be another killing. So she was smart in not looking at the MonokupPad or one of the flashback lights (too bad she looked at the others). I just thing she thought and did things that a real person would do in a situation like that and I like that. 2.) Shuichi Saihara - He is one of the best examples of character development for me. In the first chapter he was so meek and had low confidence but after that tries to grow stronger. But not all at once, no he slowly but surely gets there. With all the events and his relationship he makes with the other characters, it was just an amazing journey to see him go though. He is without a doubt the best protagonist in all Danganronpa (for me). 1.) Gonta Gokuhara - The nicest and the most innocent character in the whole Danganronpa series. I like the nice guy/girl type of characters. For me they are the best boy/girl and Gonta is just that. Sure he doesn't have book or street smarts but that just part of his charm. Unlike other big strong characters like Nekomaru and Akane, he wasn't obnoxious gross or loud. Nor was he so aggressive wanting to fight 24/7. He was just lovable guy who wanted to share his love for bugs and that is so sweet. There it is my top 10, man that was long. Hopefully I explained clearly enough why I like these characters.

Makoto Naegi at the beginning I thought he was the stupid guy falling in love with Sayaka but then when I watched the anime and the gameplay of trigger happy havoc I litterally fell in love with this character ngl he is obviously the symbol of Hope . 4. Aoi Asahina first of all I share with her my passion of swimming and also love how she is nice with everyone obviously and when I see her it always makes me feel optimistic and happy. 3. Ibuki Mioda one of my favorite character because of her style and how crazy she is I can identify me in her that's why I love her. 2. Tenko Chabashira sometimes she can be really childish but I love her because she never give up in hope and always protect her friends and always shows her feelings. (#tenkoxrantaro) 1. I know that I am very late on this video, but I am so glad that someone else likes Tenko. I usually do not see anything but hate for her, and I agree with the things that you said about her. I also think that she has one of the biggest personalities in the series, especially if you look at her free time events. It shows that she wanted to be a celebrity and her insecurities about her looks and why the the reason she loves Himiko is because she is inspired to be a performer like her and thinks that she is cute. I also just like her interactions and how she is always making me laugh. Her sprites are my favorite out of anyone.
One of my top favorite characters, if not my favorite, is Maki Harukawa. For someone that hated herself so much bc of her job and doing something that she hated so much and was basically forced into, I saw her as a Kirigiri type who I think showed the most character development out of any of the “best girls” in the series. To go from no emotions and resentment and hating everyone, to falling for someone, which she had never felt before, I loved her so much. I never expected to hate a character in a game and then end up loving them so much.
My one goes like this! 1. Hajime 2. Celeste 3. Maki 4. Kyoko 5. Makoto 6. Komaru 7. Sonia 8. Tenko 9. Saihara 10. Sayaka Honestly, my one isn't really in order but Hajime and Celeste will always be my favourite.
My top 5 Danganronpa v3 characters. 5. Kiibo.It was cool that his voices in his head were the audience. He looked so O.P. destroying the academy. 4.Kaede Akamatsu. The firsy female protagonist (only for chapter 1 tho ) Her ultimate and design is O.p. and her personally. Knowing that she didn't kill Rantaro is just heartbreaking. 3.Himiko Yumeno. I love her voice, it just makes me feel kinda happy. After the third trial, she cried for Angie and Tenko and that made everyone cry also. She is really cute in my opinion, and she's a very loving character. 2.Shuichi Saihara. He has probably having the saddest moments in his life. He has to find the true culprit in order for more to survive. He had to kill Kaede, Kirumi, Korekiyo, Gonta, and Kaito. He's one of the best characters overall. *Drumroll* 1.Kokichi Oma/Ouma. What do I have to say? He's a really smart character. In chapter 5 he tried to trick the mastermind by d-dying. In chapter 3 he says he killed Angie to make the culprit say Kokichi is the culprit. Knowing he's evil but not one of the despair people like Junko is O.p. Everything else he does is awesome.
my top ten: INCLUDES SPOILERS 10.)Kyoko - i liked her a lot and thought she was truly an asset to every case. her free time events were cute and i liked her background story,, major feels 9.) Touko - heh crazy lady... while in the first game i thought of her as an annoying girl with a badass split alter personality, i appreciated her character arc in Despair Girls; basically what weeby said lol 8.)Kaede - i know, she’s not very high on the list, but she id definitely not last on here ha. i love how interesting ambitious she was and i appreciated her empathy for the other students, even sacrificing herself for everyone at the end of the first trial. her relationship with shuichi is also super cute and i live how she impacted him to give him the confidence he needed to survive and help others survive too. 7.) Mikan - honestly, what a trip she is. While she was a little weird, i find her reasons for her actions incredibly sad, as she’d sometimes randomly ask if she should strip. she was such a tragic character and i felt a bit unsatisfied with her reason for killing... :( but i like her a lot. the crazier the better :) 6.) Kiibo - He’s such a cute character and i appreciate his genuine efforts to help everyone in cases and just trying to be a person! he can be a bit oblivious and i like his relationship with kokichi haha 5.) Kaito - damn what a man... i find him to be such an inspirational person to Shuichi and Maki and truly a great friend who you can always count on. he’s always so genuine. 4.) Chiaki - She’s not only cute, she is also a sweet character and super helpful. I think Weeby really explained how i feel about her bc he was such a kind and smart character. truly a symbol of hope. 3.) Sakura - i like how her appearance hardly ties into her gentle personality. you would think she would be some overbearing character, but she was a sweet, misunderstood character and deserved better. Her relationship with asahina was so cute and she really put the others before herself. she was so tragic and i felt for her so badly bc of how the others treated and judged her. she was just so kind and thoughtful... :( 2.) Kokichi - i know, i know... best boy... but he really is such an interesting and complex character. Even though he’s done and said some shitty things, i think it was because he hid himself and lied to himself so much, he made himself go crazy. he has so much depth and.... hes just fun. 1.) i have a theory that if the mastermind dies too early, someone replaces her, but they never wanted to replace her until she died. like the second she died somebody would suddenly be brainwashed or something to give them motivation to continue the killing game. idk if the choosing of the mastermind would be randomized or picked by tsumugi beforehand, but knowing flashback lights exist, i can imagine one would be used to make a mastermind to replace tsumugi if she died

My Top 15 Favorite Danganronpa Characters
1. Gundham Tanaka (What makes him my favorite is how inspiring and strong of a character I find him to be. At the start of the game he's very antisocial and outright cold and disrespectful towards the other classmates, but as you continue the game he reveals he has a soft spot and sees the other students as his only friends besides his hamsters. His character especially shines in Chapter 4 where he agreed with Nekomaru to sacrifice themselves to save the others from Monokuma.)
2. Kokichi Ouma (No one would have survived Danganronpa V3 hadn't it been for him, he may have been a lying, selfish, arrogant jerk but he carried out the good intention in the end)
3. Nagito Komaeda (The perfect antihero for a game like Danganronpa, he's what would happen if Makoto was a nihilistic sociopath who had a cynical outlook on hope, while overall he had good intentions, his own cynicism was the cause of him making immoral decisions)
4. Kyoko Kirigiri (My favorite character in Danganronpa 1, she made for a phenomenal female protagonist in the first game essentially being a detective)
5. Chiaki Nanami (Carried most of the class trials and like Kaito, was a kind and caring person, also my number one waifu)
6. Kaito Momota (Very smart, compassionate, and what I like to think of as the class's hope, while people like to compare Kokichi to Nagito, I like to compare Kaito to Chiaki)
7. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu (One of, if not the most fleshed out character in Danganronpa 2, starting off as a snobbish jerk, after his closest friend Peko died, he started to spend time with and learn to understand the other students)
8. Mukuro Ikusaba (A strong character who always had the best intentions in mind, she didn't deserve the abuse she received from Junko)
9. Kiyotaka Ishimaru (He was a great contrast from Mondo, while Mondo was very defiant of the rules and does things on his own terms, Taka was the embodiment of a moral conduct, if only he lived longer)
10. Kaede Akamatsu (Not only was she the first female protagonist, but she was the first protagonist who had a personality, her execution was also my favorite in the whole franchise because it reverted my expectations for the rest of the game)
11. Shuichi Saihara (He was a good replacement for Kaede after Chapter 1, he's also the character I feel I would be most like)
12. Toko Fukawa (The most dynamic character in Danganronpa 1, she is also one of the most relatable characters in the series)
13. Peko Pekoyama (2nd best waifu behind Chiaki imo, her scenes with Fuyuhiko were very heart warming)
14. Makoto Naegi (A good character all around and he fits the role of protagonist perfectly, but he's as low as he is because he can be a Mary Sue at times)

Rantaro Amami (A precious cinnamon roll, *again* on the outside he seems to be the most innocent in the group but deep down, there's something on to him, I like to think of him as Nagito with an extra layer of mystery)
Ryoma Hoshi (Usually I'm not a big fan of the fat characters, I'm indifferent with Hifumi and I dislike Teruteru, but Ryoma has one of the most interesting histories and backgrounds of any character)

8. Anjie Yonaga (This is where I start to go into the characters I actually don't like btw. I just don't see how Anjie can be likeable, for one it feels like she only exists so Danganronpa can have an ultimate artist. Secondly, her personality just bothers me, her oblivious nature and her brainless actions are annoying to me. Finally she just doesn't have any likeable qualities, she doesn't seem to have any sympathy for the other students and her annoyingly frequent rambles about Atua are pointless to the story)
9. Sayaka Maizono (Sayaka is just a boring character, she's really the only character in the franchise where I can't think of any complexity or analysis behind. She was Makoto's love interest and the driving force of his character at the start only for her to manipulate Makoto at a failed attempt to frame him)
10. My top 10 favorite characters
1. Nagito Komaeda, I really like his character. He is one of the best antagonist on the series, and his relationship with hajime is really cute. His character make me feels really, really bad for him, despite hating him when I first play the game.
2. Kaede Akamatsu, I don't really have a good reason why, but first of all, her writing is one of the best in V3, and V3 have really, really bad writing (I don't hate it, its just my personal opinion) her twist being killed first despite we all thought that she was the protagonist is really well written. Oh, and SaiMatsu
3. Kokichi Ouma, should be obvious why, no questions why
4. Kiibo, kiibo is just a Lil innocent child. And his arc/motive is pretty interesting for me. Him being a robot, but having a lot of emotions and feelings. Him wanting more hobbies, and being more than just a robot is just really entertaining for me.
5. Kiyotaka Ishimaru, first of all, hold your bom, *_bear_* with me. Taka, in my opinion is kinda 1 of the most underrated character in my opinion. Not much of people I talk too, likes him, and it sadden me. Taka's relationship with Mondo is really a cherry on the top on why I like him so much, (despite the fact me being an IshiMondo trash *cough cough* ) before chapter 2, I really, really dislike Taka, he is just so annoying, he is very rude, he's kind of a bad version of Iida (I know Taka comes first, but really this is just my first impression) but after chapter 2, I pretty much can't hold my tears every time I see him. He is basically just a shell of his former self, just walking towards death. I really, really wants to see him as a survivor more than Hagakure, he have so many potential arc that could be interesting.
6. Chiaki Nanami, other then the fact of me being a HinaNami trash, she really is a very cute character. Her interaction with Hajime is so cute. And she is just cute in general. I don't,have much to say why I like her, but seeing her really just makes me happy
7. Gundham Tanaka, I really like his dark edgy under world persona and the choices of words he uses, its pretty funny. When he was reveal to be a murderer, it kinda sadden me a lot, and his motive is really just a cherry on the ice cream for me. His execution is also pretty sad, the fact that he cast a spell to protect his hamster, and him just going with his edgy persona to motivated the others to keep on fighting is really, really sad.
8. Kazuichi Soda, I personally don't know why I like him so much. Maybe because he's really funny, or because of his interaction with Sonia, he's just one of those characters who's existence just makes me happy.
9. Kaito Momota, again not that much reason on why I like him. I do find him motivating Saihara pretty cute and funny, and the way Sahara morns for him after his execution is really sad
10. Kyoko Kirigiri, I just notice that I don't have a lot of V1 characters in my top 10 :/ I personally found her really interesting. She gives a very mysterious aura around us. And at first, you're really suspicious of her, but after founding out more about her, especially in her free time events, where she told Makoto about being scared and having emotions. And I like her execution, where most of the time, she doesn't feel any fear or emotions, she's showing heavy fear as she slowly move into her death.

Also watching your Ouma analysis video made me think that if Komaeda is a messed up Naegi, Ouma could be a messed up Kirigiri
- they both wander alone to investigate
- they both want to stop the mastermind and believe they might be the only ones most capable to do so
- Naegi was (almost) sacrificed in order for Kirigiri to live, while Ouma actually sacrificed two other people in oder for him to live
- the group doesn't trust them at all, and this distrust is caused by themselves and because they don't trust the group either

Although I have quite an unusual opinion, here goes my list,
1. Ouma Kokichi - he's an amazing character with such an interesting personality, he may be even my favorite character of all time.
2. Tsumugi Shirogane - A fairly unpopular opinion, but I'm a big fan of her. Her plain personality and looks may be boring to some, but for some reason I think of them as genius.
3. Miu Iruma - I really, really hated her character a lot in the past. But after playing the game myself and seeing all her free time events she grew on me. She's a lovable vulgar coward.
4. Kaito Momota - Honestly, this guy is just a cool and optimistic type of a friend I wish I'd have.
5. Mahiru Koizumi - I absolutely adore Mahiru, she may be a big pushover sometimes but she always means well.
6. Saihara Shuichi - This little emo detective is probably my favorite protagonist from all the games. I think he has nice character development.
7. Sayaka Maizono - Some people think she's a horrible person for fooling Makoto and trying to kill Leon, but I just think it just shows how much she loved her friends and what lenghts she'd go for them.
8. K1-B0 - Honestly he has one of the best FTE in my opinion. His character is also very intriguing.
9. Tenko Chabashira - Although she supposedly hates men, she's one of the few people that made effort to encourage and comfort Shuichi after the first trial, I ultimately think she's an amazing person and a sweetheart.
10. Maki Harukawa - I'm pretty confused about her, one second I love her and the next loathe her with my whole being. Her actions in chapter 5 really put me off, as she tried to literally sacrifice everyone in order to kill one person without showing it much remorse.

@Enkhbaatar Anar Huh? I think she could be the best protagonist with her unique personality. Of course protagonists are meant to be normal people in this franchise but Kaede was the most interesting one to me. Just my opinion and yeah that person is annoying telling everyone to put Kaede in 1st place.
Just finished v3 a couple days ago so here’s who were the best to me(1-3 are interchangeable)
1. Shuichi(very personal pick mostly due to the ending)
2. Nagito(fuck I wanna put him at #1 so bad but there’s so many great characters, he literally was my 2nd favorite character of all time until I finished v3 and Shuichi slightly edged him out)
3. Kokichi(yeah yeah I know, he’s amazing, I don’t even need to say anything we all know Kokichi is amazing)
4. Kaito(he’s literally Kamina from Gurren Lagann, had so many great philosophical dialogues)
5. Hajime(just love his backstory, and how he still overcomes everything in 2-6)
6. Chiaki(at first I thought she was just waifu bait as well, but she had so many amazing moments that won me over, like her commentary about belief without doubt)
7. Kyoko(she was just alright to me as well, thought she was pretty ofc lmao but didn’t see too much depth to her character until I did more research, love the themes she represents)
8. Gundam(so fucking funny and his sacrifice in 2-4 is still one of my favorite moments in the series)
9. Himiko(for the same reasons that weeby said she loved Tenko apply to Himiko’s development ten fold. It was incredible to me thinking back how annoying I thought she was in the beginning and how much I loved her in the end)
10. Korekiyo(I realize this is an unconventional pick, trust me I don’t love the incest bit either, but after doing research on him and studying him he’s probably the coolest character concept in the series and had so much potential, just kinda sucks that he was shafted by what I felt to be an underwhelming case :/)
This will all probably change as time flows by but I just wanna appreciate how great this series is and how much you can pick apart from this psychological warfare of a game. Love you all especially if you read this(even if you hate my list lol) and have a great day :)

3: Toko Fukawa: She was a character that I just beelined to when I started playing the first game. I also love Genocider.
2: Nekomaru Nidai: He’s such an interesting character. His backstory is super sweet, and he tries to save Akane from Monokuma. He also sacrifices himself for the rest of the characters.
1: Chihiro Fujisaki: Ok I know Chihiro is one of the most popular characters in V1 (possibly ever) but I love him. His weakness complex pulled his character together, along with his frail body and mind. I just love him.

@Lee Stephen, Hiyoko actually has a really bad backstory which doesn’t excuse her actions but better explains why she acted like that. She was bullied a lot growing up and all to become the perfect traditional dancer that her grandmother wanted. Hiyoko at a young age was taken away by her parents and had to like with her strict, and abusive grandmother. The children when she was younger tried to put pins and needles into her shoes before preforming so they could mess up her dancing, but they would also put dead rats in her bed. In my opinion Hiyoko bullies Mikan because she sees herself in Mikan, a fragile girl who’s had to adapt and become mean due to society. And Hiyoko wants to bully her so that Mikan can become stronger and a less meek character. (Sorry for the long paragraph, I just really like Hiyoko and her character as a whole.)

Just wanted to say that the heroes of hope had WAY worse shit happen to them (one of them even got molested and sent into child prostitution for fuck sake) and they don't even act like Hiyoko does. In my personal beliefs, no matter how much shit you went through, it does not give anyone the right to treat innocents like shit. Hiyoko is the only character throughout all of danganronpa that I was happy when she was killed. Fuck Hiyoko.

I was using that as an example since they went through worse and yet are somehow more pleasant than Hiyoko whilst still being the villains. Hiyoko is supposed to be a good guy and yet is somehow less likeable. Her background does not excuse her behaviour and actions at all.

13. 11037 - I have mixed feelings about him, but he gets this spot for an epic post trial and execution (also for killing Maizono)
12. Naegi - The bland boi himself, Naegi is actually a pretty cool protagonist who gets overshadowed by the others
11. Sakura - I love Sakura, but she really should have handled that suicide better, because she was counting on Asahina telling the group and them believing her
10. Celes - The gothic Lolita was awesome, I’m just still salty about the 3rd trial and her terrible acting

Junko - I really don’t like her beyond the first game, but this is my ranking of the characters in the first game, and her character not only has a great twist, but was a joy to watch in the first game, especially considering how she’s a villain who has completely unjustified motives, which was a nice break from form
6. Kirigiri - I know that it’s practically a sin to not put her in at least the top 3, I just appreciated the following characters more, and she needs no explanation for why she’s awesome
5. Asahina - She’s not the brightest, but her bubbly attitude was what kept the game from just dragging on towards the finale
4. Fujisaki - THE MOST PRECIOUS CINNAMON BUN!!!!!!
3. Ikusaba - I know that this is supposed to just be a ranking of the game, but for her I have to count IF, and she’s awesome in IF
2. Fukawa/Genocider - A really great interesting character, although a complete psychopath, and also a good source of comic relief, she's my favorite female character in the series
1. Ishimaru - He was my favorite character from the start, I relate to him so much. He’s funny and had some cool development, is one of the few genuinely nice people from the first game, and the 3rd trial did him such an injustice, he's my favorite character overall (Also I'm Ishimondo trash)

15. Saionjii - I don't hate Saionjii like most people, it was just that once her arc started she died immediately and I was purely indifferent on her beforehand
14. Teruteru - He's a pervy chef
13. Mikan - She's a pervy nurse, but in all honesty I like Mikan, and I think she's one of the saddest characters, I just like the following characters better
12. Twogami - His character had a great twist, but we don't get to interact with him enough for me to put him higher
11. Peko Pekoyama - She would be the best character in the series if her name wasn't so dumb (I'm kidding of course but that was the deciding factor for her not being 10th)

ChineeseCowy the fifth trial ruined her character for me a bit. Because right before that chapter, she said how she wants to work hard so the others would trust her. And she goes and tries to kill them all in ch5 without showing too much remorse. If they showed her struggling with the idea of killing them, or if she was willing to sacrifice them to save someone else rather than - i want to kill Kokichi no matter what - that would make more sense in the context of her char arc.

4. Miu Iruma. Say what you will, but Miu is funny as hell. Maybe it's saying something, but I feel like if you replaced all of her not-horny dialogue with the kind of shit I say on a daily basis, it would still be 99.99% in character.
3. Kokichi Oma. I mean, he may be a pathological liar that definitely has some sort of flavor of psychopathy, but he's hilarious, so I don't really care. That coupled with his sick clothes quickly made him a favorite of mine. (Besides, he's kinda cute too.)
2. Yasuhiro Hagakure. Once again, he's fucking funny. 10) Ibuki: Compare to other character, she’s doesn’t deserve to be rank this high and I wish she had more development, but I love her personality, designs, she was useful in the trials and she was overall a fun-likable character.
9) Kokichi: I fucking hate him, yet I love him. He was the most entertaining character in V3 and was SO well written. I hated him so much for what he done to Gonta but he was such a cool anti-hero.
8) Kaitō: Agree, one of the most likable character but he rank low on my list because I found him so frustrating in Chap4. But he was so lovable, I love his talent and he was so impactful to the main story and Shuichi’s development.
7) Junko: SHSL VILLAIN!!! I honestly didn’t care for her until analyzing her, but she is amazing villain in the franchises, her design is iconic and her lust for despair is much deeper than we thought.
6) Chiaki: Sweet character, Waifu material, she was helpful in trials and entertaining to watch. I love both her AI and anime counterpart and it was sad to see her go.
5) Kyoko: Took me a while to like her character because I personally think she’s bland, but that’s the point of her character as it relates to her family’s code. Amazing design, hero of the story and cute personality.
4) Fuyuhiko/Himiko: I love these two for the same reasons so I’m putting them on the same spot. Both were unlikable to me at first but got hella development. I enjoyed watching these two grow and what they stand for. It was so entertaining to watch them on further trial and glad both survives.
3) Toko/Genocider: Genocider was overall cool and gotta love her abridge persona. Toko took me a while to like but damn she got her own game where her character was redeemed. In her game she was fun to watch, her backstory is heart-breaking and just misunderstood. Prime example of true character development.
2) Tenko: Tenko was my favorite from the pre-release of the character designs. Her hatred for men was risky to write but I think they did a good job in writing her character. She’s a deep character, a best friend that everyone should have, love her talent and I love her final words. She was caring too. I want her to survive so BADLY from the start but you know Danganrompa-logic. her death was just so unfair.
1) Hajime: Hajime was a wonderful protagonist and just like him, I have a very bad inferior complex. I want to be special, don’t want to be average and I get depressed about it just like Hajime. Hajime’s struggle resonated with me the way Kaede related to Weeby, I truly bonded with him. His arc with Izuru was so interesting and I love everything about it. Hajime is handsome, deep, received a lot of development and come on who doesn’t love Johnny Yong Bosch? Amazing character but then again all of them are amazing.

I don't exactly have a top 10 list, as I don't really like the practice of setting a particular standard of measurement, or comparing two things I like side by side, especially when I like them for completely different reasons. This goes for characters as well as games in general and anything else I could like or dislike. That being said, I can still talk about some of the characters I would consider my favorites from the series, even if I refuse to arbitrarily decide which one I like the best.
To begin with, the way I look at Danganronpa first and foremost is as a vehicle for genre deconstruction and reconstruction. This is what I consider to be the underlying theme that holds together all Danganronpa games, regardless of what different message the story is touting. Genre deconstruction is primarily a film analysis term that refers to when a film goes out of it's way to force elements of a genre into itself, often in an extreme, overblown fashion or in situations that don't make sense, usually to highlight the absurdity of the trope or call to attention how frequently it is used within the genre. Parody also falls under this umbrella term. It's usually about taking overused trope and making fun of them, or harshly criticizing them. Genre "reconstruction" is slightly different. It still focuses on the tropes of a given genre, but instead of making fun of them, it turns those tropes on their head, setting up and then defying the trope to support the narrative better. Like, in Gurren Lagaan, a shonen-ey super robot show had an expectation at the time for the heroes to unstoppably tear through anything in their path on their way to the ending, but Gurren Lagaan took this expectation and defied it by killing off it's most prominent character, which was made all the more shocking due to how unexpected it was, since it tricked the audience into thinking it was falling in line with the standard tropes of it's genre. A film like "Shawn of the Dead" is a 'genre deconstruction', and a film like "Pacific Rim" is a 'genre reconstruction'. So why does this matter? Well, Danganronpa is *both* a deconstruction and a reconstruction. So is Doki Doki Literature Club, for that matter. Danganronpa uses tropes from all over the place. It uses character tropes, storytelling tropes, mystery tropes, and tropes from any genre it happens to include at any point in the games. It stretches those tropes to extreme degrees, mocks itself for being trashy manga trope-filled drivel, then turns it all around to create something new by defying those tropes or adding onto them.
With that setup out of the way, the characters I most like from Danganronpa are Makoto, Ouma, Komaeda, Himiko, Monokuma, and Toko. Mostly, I wanna talk about Himiko and Makoto to explain why these two are favorites, since I like the Ouma and Komaeda for pretty much the same reasons everybody loves Ouma and Komaeda, and Monokuma is the essence of Danganronpa and trope deconstruction to begin with. Toko is also a really clever reconstruction of the yandere trope, but as I'm not as familiar with other yandere characters, pointing out the creative changes made to her that defy the expectations of a typical yandere is not something I feel qualified to do.
So, after the longest preparation to a mostly pointless "favorite characters list" ever, here we go. Ma boi Makoto first and foremost. The original Danganronpa, being the first, had to immediately establish it's tone of presenting an extremely generic anime/manga production but changing the formula to make things interesting. Danganronpa starts with the most generic-as-fuck visual novel introduction in history, with a panning shot of the town and a straight exposition dump about this bullshit school full of amazing people, and presenting it's completely boring, ordinary protagonist, but it goes out of it's way to express how *extremely* ordinary Makoto is, almost to the point where he becomes abnormal and difficult to relate to, which is the opposite of the purpose of making such a generic character as the lead. They present an extreme version of this overused style of protagonist that ends up having very different effects from the trope it's based off of to begin with. Makoto has no extreme abilities or personality traits compared to any of the other characters. He doesn't have anything that could be considered unique. He's just the typical happy-go-lucky nice-guy optimistic main-character-boy. But this is where the deconstruction stops and the reconstruction begins. As I already said before, one aspect of taking apart overused tropes is to present them in situations where it no longer makes sense for them to appear. This is the crux of the creativity around Makoto as the protagonist. They're taking the very basic overused template of a happy-go-lucky main character, and shoving him into a situation so dire and hopeless that every other character gives in to despair, especially in the final class trial. They're using this attribute that these samey main characters all have that nobody ever thinks anything of (their upbeat optimism), and presenting it as the most important trait in the world: the Ultimate Hope. They creatively find a way to take this trope of visual novel protagonists and make it the most important element of the story. That's radical. It fits so perfectly. Of course, Hajime and Saihara are also reconstructions of other main character tropes, such as Hajime's brash and overly serious personality where he has a stick up his ass all the time, but I feel like Makoto's is still the most fundamentally creative twist on the trope they used for him.
Himiko is the best. Like, we all understand this, right? Well, Himiko is a decon/recon of the "Deadpan Loli" character trope, a personal favorite of mine. These are loli girls that lack emotional expression and general act in a deadpan manner in all situations, for the sake of cuteness and comedy. However, they take this, poke fun at it for being aloofness and laziness, and then turn it around, and take the personality trope that's usually just a meaningless character quirk, and make it an actual character arc for Himiko, explaining how she tries to suppress her own emotions, why she acts the way she does out of fear/sadness, and classing her personality against the progression of the narrative, making Himiko's deadpan loli trope become not just a comedy gag, but a detriment to the group and to herself that Tenko and the others try to cure her of, eventually allowing her to grow out of this deadpan loli curse and become a more energetic and expressive person. (to which Monokuma says "she lost what made her unique", implying that she lost the character trope she was based on). But Himiko continues to be an extremely likable character and has some of the most diverse and inventive comedy throughout the entire game.
There are definitely other characters that I love the deconstructions of. I love Sonia as an Ojou decon/recon. I love Ouma as a Komaeda decon/recon. I love Komaeda as a Makoto/Togami decon/recon (but I don't love those charaters quite AS much as I love Makoto and Himiko, simply because they're mainly reconstructions of tropes within the Danganronpa fiction, and not tropes that just exist and are prominent in manga and anime, like all the others are). I wish I loved Gundham, but unfortunately, I played Steins;Gate before I ever played DR2, and Okabe is just an infinitely more complex reconstruction of the Chuunibyou trope than Gundham is, even though he's also really good too. And beyond that, I'm sure there are more characters that I'd love just as much if I were well versed enough in those Japanese writing tropes to recognize all the character tropes and how they're being modified for every character. But anyways, those are the characters I like the most, and why I like them. Sure, I also like Kaede and Saihara and those others a lot too, because they're awesome, likable characters, but in the creativity of Danganronpa's writing as a commentary on the tropes of it's genres, the characters I described are definitely special beyond just being likable people.
EDIT: This is also why Junko makes the perfect villain for the first game. Not only is she very unique and not what someone would expect of the mastermind of the killing game, once again defying those tropes and expectations that the tired writing of anime and manga have taught us, but Junko's motivations also reflect this theme of breaking apart boring tropes and stereotypes. Junko has become bored of the predictability of the world, and believes that destroying the harmony and creating chaos is the only way to make things interesting again. This should have obvious-ass comparisons to the idea of anime/manga consumers becoming bored of the endless reuse of the same tropes and genre elements with nothing new, perfectly predictable, completely boring. But our heroes, who have evolved from their own tropes to create something new and interesting, prove to Junko that hope can still win; that there is still more to writing to be explored that will make it worthwhile and bring hope to the people. That's pretty fuckin' cool, right there. As Kodaka said in his post-V3 interviews, he wanted to express his belief with V3's ending that fiction is something extremely important, and shouldn't be dismissed as "not real" or "meaningless". He wanted to show that just because it's fiction, it's impact is still very real. This belief is at the heart of his expansion of Japanese anime/manga writing through the exploration of these overused tropes.
That wall of text would put Mei players to shame.
I also wanna stress that the theme of Danganronpa is *not* about following hope. Rather, every game has such a different commentary on hope that it can't be considered a consistent theme. The first game, sure. The second game takes these beliefs in hope and makes them interesting again, using elements like Komaeda to make you question whether or not hope is really a good thing, and Hajime uses this to realize that the "hope" he's being told to follow is just as bullshit as the despair they were forced to endure, so instead, he moves towards a future of his own making. In V3, it's very obvious that the push towards "following hope" is NOT what's being recommended, as the "hope" to escape the killing game and the "hope" of the world is what perpetuates this bullshit system that forces people to suffer. In the DR3 anime, the entire thing is about a bunch of ideals clashing because they all have different interpretations of what "hope" is in the first place. Kodaka was never trying to send a real message with anything he did with hope and despair, as he said that he wrote DR1 and 2 with the pure intention of entertainment, and that the only one he put a real message in was V3. All the games contradict each other's messages, because they aren't actually trying to teach the player something about hope and despair, they're using it as a storytelling device, and a generalization of how the stories it's using tropes from are told. That's why I consider the deconstruction and reconstruction of tropes to be the true theme of the series, as the consistent "message" they all have in common.

10: Leon. A very nice character with a good bit of stuff behind him. Too bad he died so early because Sayaka was a b**ch and made him accidentally stab her.
9: Byakuya. He may be an ass (especially in chapter 2) but I still really like him. He has a pretty good backstory and he has become nicer, if only to Makoto.
8: Kokichi. Honestly, until the fifth trial I hated him. After that though his actions there made me grow to like him, but I still don’t like him enough to put him higher
7. Fuidhiko(forgot the spelling) and Peko. These two are just to adorable! The scene before Peko’s death gets me every time! I like these two the same.
6. Chiaki. Before I would have put her higher, but a reviewer who did Danganronpa 2 pointed out a lot of problems with her that were true, so while I still like her, I don’t like her as much as I used to.
5. Toko. She was a complete b**ch in the first game, but her development in another episode really helped me like her a lot.
4. Shuichi. The hell he has to go through throughout the entire game may be even worse than Hajimae’s hell in some ways. He still has his funny moments and is really likeable, so he’s defiantly my favourite protagonist.
3. Kyoko. A complete badass! I honestly felt she was a better main character than Makoto to be honest. And while I wished she showed a bit more emotion, and her ‘thing’ in the 3 anime kinda turned me away from her a bit, I still really like her.
2. Nagito. I swear if V3 never happened he’d be number 1. He’s well fleshed out, entertaining, creepy when he needed to be, and pulled of the craziest murder in the series. I just love this crazy bastard! Also really like his backstory.

Okay so I wanted to write down my top favorite characters and why I love them, and not only I could not do a top 10, but I also rambled too much about Shuichi ^^’ So I am gonna make this a Shuichi appreciation comment instead, if anyone reads this and is interested on why I love the other characters, feel free to ask :3
(btw SPOILERS of V3!!!!)
Shuichi is often dismissed as simply being a “new protag”, “cinnamon roll” or “emo detective uwu” and sometimes we can see some “he’s relatable” or “good character development” here and there (which is at least something ^^’)
He gets a lot of attention and recognition (some even say he is “overrated”) but not necessarily for the reasons I love him so much for.
1. Shuichi
Best character development I have seen in the whole franchise.
He started off as quite a solid character, analytical yet empathetic and with a little bit of lack of self-esteem (that was explained) that made him intriguing.
He genuinely loves what he does (see in the free time events in Kaede route), it is only his past that tarnished his view on detective work. I find this aspect of him deep, in the sense that bad experiences build you and your view on the world. It is pathetic in some way that the thing he is good at, that he is meant to do and most of all that he loves doing, brings him misery (and I also love his passionate side).
Yet with the help of others, he is able to become stronger, more confident. And what I admire of him is that he is also able to get stronger from his solitude and misery. He decided to value the truth more, to value his detective work, which in the end indirectly killed Kaede (I also adore the parallel that was made between the fact that the truth always brought him misery: from his first case and from Kaede’s death). Yet he still pursues it because it is the right thing to do, and he wants to protect everyone. Which is admirable, considering that the truth left him hurt multiple times, but he still decides to confront it out of selflessness.
His selflessness sometimes even pushed him to be used by the others (but not in the bad way, and not against his will), and other times he distanced himself from the group to pursue the better interest (4th trial notably). He is a useful character for everyone, and he becomes aware of it which make him stronger. Yet he doesn’t forget the fact that he is only useful in a tragic situation (when a death occurs), which proves his critical thinking even of himself (he doesn’t lack confidence just for the sake of it, he is aware of his and his talent’s limits).
He has strong values which he doesn’t push onto people, but he defends them nonetheless. He is able to see further than what meets the eye (he is able to discern good or bad hope in the last trial for example) and makes his choices accordingly. (Even if in some way I don’t think he ever discovered Kokichi’s true intentions, though he seems to be aware of the fact that he missed out something. But it is not relevant for this ^^’). He is not afraid of change and challenges, and he faces them head on and willingly (whether it is to train with Kaito despite not being sporty just to better himself and to get closer to his friend, or to fight against the whole world to stop the killing game).
And even after all the description of how amazing he is, given his story, situation, and actions, he still remains relatable, which makes him more aspiring for the players. We can all become better with or without others, whether we do good or bad things, the most important is to learn from our past and act according to our experience. We need to know what should be done (by knowing the “truth”) and then we can decide whether it is better to follow our duty or to find a different path. Shuichi is an example of how to make mature choices open-mindedly by staying rational yet true to your beliefs.
On a shallower level, I find his design fitting, he looks cute (I have a thing for blushing guys), his English voice is stunning, and I would die for his smile. ^^

not in any “most favorite to least favorite” order, but here’s my 2-year late, not-proofread, and unnecessarily lengthy list of my top 10 characters in danganronpa:
1) shuichi saihara. i find myself relating to shuichi because of the kind of awkward but reserved personality we share until it’s our time to get serious and do what we’re good at. i really liked his character development following kaede’s death and his relationship with kaito, too. also i’m just a sucker for pretty emo boys lmao.
2) makoto naegi. he’s just so good, i can’t not love him?? to me, he’s that sweet, easily likeable protag, which i think stalks up to how intimate thh felt with makoto’s thoughts and feelings. thh’s writing just made it feel like we’re really connected with makoto, and i think that connection is another reason i like him so much! srsly tho, i would just get so excited whenever he came up in goodbye despair & udg, and i almost cried at his execution in thh lol.
3) nagito komaeda. yeah, i also have a special spot for crazy boys eheh. as i’m sure you’ve heard from several other people, his writing is just so well done and compelling i can’t stop myself from always wanting to know more about him. it seems like every aspect about him is a mystery, other than his very clear obsession with hope. but even then, that region is a little foggy, too, because of the backhanded things he does to achieve such perfect hope that he lusts for. the distances he’s willing to go on the side of despair just to achieve that hope is really what makes nagito so interesting to me.
4) k1-b0. kiibo = baby boy. that’s it. ok no my heart broke when he sacrificed himself to save shuhimaki at the end of drv3 like omg the way his character grew so much so quickly. the way he appeared to be just some underwhelming yet emotional robot capable of reason for most of the game only to become this super powered savior willing to put his life on the line for the greater good was totally awesome. just the concept of a robot fighting so determinedly for a hope that should’ve been beyond sentiment machinery like him was so cool to begin with, and when he was playable as a protag and pretty much became hope i was just completely floored. also his voice is so cute! he entertained me a good bit with his emphasis on robophobia lol.
5) gonta gokuhara. i just love adorable oblivious boys/gentle giants too much. gonta pretty much instantly won his way into my heart when we first met him as kaede. his backstory and selfless character throughout the story is just so sad yet so endearing! and don’t even talk to me about his trial, that was probably the most painful part of v3 other than the revelation of that ending. i couldn’t forgive kokichi for a good while. and, thus, that brings us to #6,
6) kokichi ouma. i forgave him eventually, yk? while i didn’t really like him on my first watching of v3 bc i couldn’t understand him, after watching videos on him and reading canon content i became aware of his greater intentions and deeper character that he tries so hard to hide from the other ultimates, and my opinion evolved to a loving one. now he’s one of my faves, mainly bc he was properly entertaining in the game and bc of sympathy. i feel so bad for grape fanta boy, and wish he’d gotten better than he received in v3.
7) komaru naegi. ?? there’s an unreasonable absence of girls on this list. for pretty much the same reasons as makoto, i had to fall in love with komaru as well. ofc that’s to say i also love her bc she was different from makoto, not being another copy of the ultimate hope but simply komaru naegi, who would work hard to repair the world herself one step at a time. i keep saying this but character!! development!!! komaru’s was so good!!!!! how she went from a lacking, ordinary high school girl to a badass public influence. honestly i just love the naegi siblings a looot. with their naturally likeable personalities and their cute relationship with each other, they’re both favorites in my book!
8) touko fukawa. ur seeing this recurring trend of protags, cinnamon rolls and psychos/antiheroes, too, right? yeah... i’m the same with weeby newz in that i didn’t like her first time watching thh. but udg really opened up my eyes. she underwent such a good character development in that game, like pessimistic cowardly touko growing up to light a fire in the unconfident sister of the ultimate hope? YES. and her relationship with komaru is just one i so adore and can see lasting forever. genocider, ofc, is always fun to see and i’m always looking forward to when she has her screentime, too.
9) hajime hinata. just. wonderful writing. wonderful character. wonderful backstory, wonderful development, wonderful oj, wonderful protagonist. just. hajime hinata. yes.
10) byakuya togami. i love this piece of shit. he’s a jerk done right, unlike, in my opinion, hiyoko, who, to me, was just generally unlikeable (but i do acknowledge that she didn’t exactly get to have her full redemption arc). i love how he turns from this kind of antagonist to one of the remnants of hope but still manages to be a cold, blunt asshole. seeing him die in goodbye despair, my resolve was truly broken. i didn’t want to watch the rest of the game. i’m glad i did tho, ofc, and was v relieved to see that he was still alive. just love his consistency. one of the only okay jerks in my book.
if i had to list my top 15, my other five would be sonia, kyoko, miu, maki, and kotoko!

you’re actually the first other person i seen who’s favorite is kokichi and honestly i think im gonna cry of simultaneous joy and sadness. joy cuz hes your number 1 pick and sadness cuz a lot of peoppe misunderstand him, which is why he isnt their number 1 pick, and even for the ones who pick him as number 1, they dont fully understand him either. but im also super happy you understand him a bit as well as see him under a different light than others. for example hes my favorite cuz i felt really really really really really bad for him because i believe he was lying about his personality, but you’re reasoning makes much more sense

10. Shuichi Saihara: I enjoyed watching him grow as a person across the game, he really is quite relatable
9. Mikan Tsumiki: As a person with anxiety myself, I loved having someone to relate to in game, and also chapter 3 was good, you can't change my mind.
8. Ryoma Hoshi: He just felt so real. Even though he didn't care about his life, he still respected everyone and worked with them all.
7. Sonia Nevermind: So funny, so nice, so cute. The best way I could describe her personality is fluffy.
6. Chihiro Fujisaki: What not to like? Every time he cried I wanted to give him a big hug... Just so likeable
5. Gonta Gokuhara: I just love him. He's so nice and so strong, but sweet rather than a 'tuff guy' personality, and chapter 4 broke me 😔
4. Tenko Chabashira: "hi-yah! The ultimate aikido master!" she's so brave and energetic, it makes me want to go exercise. Tenko x Himiko OTP by the way
3. Kokichi Ouma: Yeah, yeah, I know... You're shaking your head and saying 'not another one', but it just can't be helped. He's so entertaining that every time he speaks it makes me happy, apart from *cough Chapter 4 *cough...
2. Sakura Ogami: I loved her personality and I only really appreciated her once she was gone, I just want more Sakura content aaaaaaaaa- well, um, my point is that she's an amazing person and a good friend, who cares about other people and is willing to take one for the team. Love her.
1. Mahiru Koizumi: bet ya haven't seen this one yet! Mahiru is just the best. She's so likable, caring, and her voice is so nice. She's just really wholesome and #MahiruShould'veSurvived

I just like all protags and after v3 came out I loved all of them so much that I stopped caring about other games too much... I don't remember them that well but I remember that I didn't care like a lot of characters and in v3 I like everyone D: But I can't get them in a list, I don't wanna insult any of them by order, I'm undecided.
I don’t consider anime/real Chiaki to be the same person as AI Chiaki, because AI Chiaki is everyone’s best memories of Chiaki mixed with her goal of getting everyone to graduate.

i liked chiaki's portrayal in the anime. since hajime was the main character in the game and the anime focused on their class before the tragic incident, the class needed a leader since hajime was a normal student at the time. she lead the class well as class rep and spent a lot of time with hajime outside of class. she taught him that life's more than just being really good at one thing. the fact that her classmates admired her leadership added more despair to see her get killed in such a gruesome way, eliminating their hope. i almost liked the anime version better than the game version

1. Hajime Hinata - I find his straightforwardness to be very appealing
2. Kokichi Ouma - The most interesting and chaotic character I've ever known, really fun and painful to watch and observe
3. Makoto Naegi - Cause he's very compassionate and caring, puts other before himself, I cried at the first and last chapter
4. K1-B0 - He's just so amazing, he's very helpful during most trial and never actually puts his feelings above the matter at hand
5. Miu Iruma - Entertaining to watch despite almost facepalming myself everytime she spokes, I also find her confidence to be admirable
6. Korekiyo Shinguuji - His ultimate talent is so good and his design are to die for, the way he speaks are also one of the traits I love

Kokichi and Nagito are my absolute favorite characters in the entire Danganronpa franchise. They are just amazing characters imo.
10. Kyoko Kirigiri - Her design is the most beautiful design I’ve seen in the game. The thing is I don’t feel too attached to her. I can’t really relate to her and that’s why I can’t really like her as much as the others. Although, I do like how she’s mostly the one who saves everyone in the class trials.
9. Sonia Nevermind - I like her. She’s a really relatable character and she has some funny moments. Her scenes with Gundham are definitely my favorite. Though, I don’t feel too connected to her, which is why she’s pretty low.
8. Akane Owari - The moment I saw her I knew I would love her. She reminded me of Aoi so seeing her instantly made me like her. I love how energetic she is and her love for food. The thing that is mostly holding her in my top 10 is her relationship with Nekomaru. I just really like Akane and Nekomaru.
7. Kiibo - I love, love, love Kiibo. He’s extremely adorable and just thinking about his death makes me extremely sad. I never thought much about him in the beginning but later in the story, I LOVED him. I’m sad that he didn’t get much development before though. He was just there, being a robot. I still love him though.
6. Chiaki Nanami - I love Chiaki a lot as well. I’m glad they touched upon her character in the anime. Her little twist too in the game was pretty neat as well. Her design is really cute too. I feel like I’m more attached to her than Kirigiri.

4. Kaito Momota. He's just a genuinely good guy imo, flawed views but great intentions. And the way he did lift Shuichi up was just amazing imo.
5. Miu Iruma. I really don't have anything deep with her, she was just a very fun character to have around and I enjoyed her interactions with Kokichi.
6. Gundham Tanaka. He's really cute and I believe that he tried to help everyone in the fourth trial so I found that quite admirable.
7. Kiibo. I found him to be a very enjoyable character and cute, he was just very likable imo.
8. Rantaro Amami. Not much basis on this but I just thought he was interesting and vague, I feel like he was lost potential and could have been a lot more interesting.
9. Toko Fukawa. I haven't seen all of Ultra Despair Girls but from what I've seen so far, I've come to love her. She's just really interesting and entertaining, plus her flaws seem really realistic and portrayed well.
10. Byakuya Togami. I think he could have done with some more character development but I enjoyed his character in the game and enjoyed his backstory.
I really liked Gundham too. Even before the trial he was one of my favorites.
To me it seemed like he didn't necessarily sacrifice himself just to save the others but it was pretty close to that.
He picked the option where he either kills Nekomaru and gets away with it or gets executed as opposed to all of them just dying for no good reason.
Especially in is speech about life and - what's the point of living if you're just waiting til you die. That line made me like him even more because we hadn't really seen this serious side of him.
I didn't really expect his character to make me think about the value of life so i was a bit taken aback.

I loved his speeches, plus he might have commited the murder but he never was a coward or sneaky about it, played fair and manned up against mechamaru on a actual fight, won fair and square defending himself, killed him nonetheless but not with tricks or whatever....

Kokichi Ouma: Even if he lied and was selfish and much more I can see he is a sweet person somehow.
Gundham Tanaka: Tbh I am literally in love with him for no reason- he is just so sweet to me 🥺
Kiyotaka Ishimaru: He is just that one character that always can make me cry. In chapter 2 I balled my eyes out. I feel so bad for him and I love him so much, he deserved better.
Angie Yonaga: I know a lot of people hate her but I really like her because she is so passionate to praise and respect atua it actually inspires me to take faith in what you do. And personally, I just love her.
Junko Enoshima: okay shes our main villain and I just love her. She is just amazing.
Kotoko Ustugi: I just feel so dang bad for her. The whole gentle thing really makes me sad. She also deserved better.
Byakuya Togami: okay him being the biggest jerk makes me love him so much. Now he is at number 7 because of what he did with Chihiro. Now that, was messed up.
Chihiro Fujisaki: he is a big idol for me. The fact he decided to tell MONDO he was a boy was just crazy to me, that shows he really was confident. The gender reveal was very shocking to me.

MY FAVORITE MAKE CHARACTER IN THE SERIES- he was so interesting and his design is memorable. As a liar myself I enjoyed the liar and mask he held. How he seemed like a heartless lair when he willingly died for everyone still alive. His relationship with Saihara is quiet adorable and he deserved to be happy. He was super tied with number one.

to me she is slightly underrated compared to Chiaki. Her beta and ingame design are amazing. She did die early in but her happy personality made me happy. How she understand her flaws and appreciated them. Like how Hiyoko told her "Good thing your ears are good because your style,music,and personality totally suck!" And her replying with "Ooooh! You've cut me deep with your words of truth!" Showing how she might agree with Hiyoko but is still happy with herself and her flaws. I'm honestly sad she died but she is my favorite in the whole series.

My TOP 10 are!
10.) Byakuya Togami - The reason is cause he starts to care for the friends he made in game at the end. After 4th trial, he sees that people aren't as black and white as he originally thought and changes. Yes he's still snarky but he's honest about his feelings towards everyone.
9.) Tenko Chabashira - Yeah orginally I didn't like her. The whole man hating thing got so annoying and made me mad. But right after the first exacution, she was standing up for Shuichi and kept standing up for him and giving him good advice. So that fact that she can be nice to men just makes her likeable. She better than a certain red-haired girl who never said one nice thing to any male character.
8.) Kaito Momota - Yeah the soul bro of V3. The fact he tries to encourage the others and especially Shuichi, just makes him great. However I do have issues with a couple of his ideals. One is in the third trial where he says "Its your fault for believing in them." That just makes it feel like he's the type to victim shame someone with that line. But never the least Kaito is great and has some funny lines.
7.) Makoto Naegi - He's so strong. I mean, even though he was betrayed he still doesn't give up hope. He carries the memories of the people he lost and uses them to keep looking forward.
6.) Chihiro Fujisaki - He's really just so relatable to me. I'm a guy who's not strong either and growing up I was insecure about. The fact that he went through it as well just made me like him. We are just so similar (except I would never dress as a girl).
5.) Kokichi Oma - I was very interested in his character. I never got mad at him (except after trial 4 for what he did to Gonta). Even though he did a lot of bad things, he knew there where bad but thought that was the only right thing to do. He thought mercy killing the others was the only way to save them from the killing game. He wasn't insane like Nagito, just misguided. In which makes Kokichi more likable then Nagito for me.
4.) Himiko Yumeno - Out of all the survivors in all of the Danganronpa, she was and still is the most shocking to survivor for me. I was so sure she was going to be killed. She just screamed victim to me. But during the 3rd trial, she started to change her mentality and become stronger just made her so great. I'm gald she lived.
3.) Maki Harukawa - I feel like she's the most realistic character in Dangonronpa series. Only cause from the beginning she didn't have the foolish mentality that being friends means there won't be another killing. So she was smart in not looking at the MonokupPad or one of the flashback lights (too bad she looked at the others). I just thing she thought and did things that a real person would do in a situation like that and I like that.
2.) Shuichi Saihara - He is one of the best examples of character development for me. In the first chapter he was so meek and had low confidence but after that tries to grow stronger. But not all at once, no he slowly but surely gets there. With all the events and his relationship he makes with the other characters, it was just an amazing journey to see him go though. He is without a doubt the best protagonist in all Danganronpa (for me).
1.) Gonta Gokuhara - The nicest and the most innocent character in the whole Danganronpa series. I like the nice guy/girl type of characters. For me they are the best boy/girl and Gonta is just that. Sure he doesn't have book or street smarts but that just part of his charm. Unlike other big strong characters like Nekomaru and Akane, he wasn't obnoxious gross or loud. Nor was he so aggressive wanting to fight 24/7. He was just lovable guy who wanted to share his love for bugs and that is so sweet.
There it is my top 10, man that was long. Hopefully I explained clearly enough why I like these characters.

10. Kyoko Kirigiri because she's the smartest girl in danganronpa in my opinion and I really get attached on her.
9. Akane Owari I don't have really reasons to appreciate her but I think it's because she's a little bit like Aoi Asahina and also because I ship her with Nekomaru :3.
8. Kokichi Oma love him because he's always lying and nobody can't know when he is sad or happy but that's what make him so special sad that he is (spoil) dead ;( but he is maybe not dead who knows?

Rantaro Amami a lot of people like him because he is handsome but not for me (even if he is cute :3) I think that he is like Nagito so that's why I like him and also because obviously he is the ultimate (spoil) survivor and that's so badass the only thing that I'm not happy for is that they didn't develop him enough with more scene of him in the precedent danganronpa 52.
5. Makoto Naegi at the beginning I thought he was the stupid guy falling in love with Sayaka but then when I watched the anime and the gameplay of trigger happy havoc I litterally fell in love with this character ngl he is obviously the symbol of Hope .
4. Aoi Asahina first of all I share with her my passion of swimming and also love how she is nice with everyone obviously and when I see her it always makes me feel optimistic and happy.
3. Ibuki Mioda one of my favorite character because of her style and how crazy she is I can identify me in her that's why I love her.

It's nice to see Junko get more love! She's one of the most fascinating characters in the series imo, and there's so many layers to her than just 'lol despair'. Anyway my top 10 is:

I know that I am very late on this video, but I am so glad that someone else likes Tenko. I usually do not see anything but hate for her, and I agree with the things that you said about her. I also think that she has one of the biggest personalities in the series, especially if you look at her free time events. It shows that she wanted to be a celebrity and her insecurities about her looks and why the the reason she loves Himiko is because she is inspired to be a performer like her and thinks that she is cute. I also just like her interactions and how she is always making me laugh. Her sprites are my favorite out of anyone.
One of my top favorite characters, if not my favorite, is Maki Harukawa. For someone that hated herself so much bc of her job and doing something that she hated so much and was basically forced into, I saw her as a Kirigiri type who I think showed the most character development out of any of the “best girls” in the series. To go from no emotions and resentment and hating everyone, to falling for someone, which she had never felt before, I loved her so much. I never expected to hate a character in a game and then end up loving them so much.

My top 5 Danganronpa v3 characters. 5. Kiibo.It was cool that his voices in his head were the audience. He looked so O.P. destroying the academy. 4.Kaede Akamatsu. The firsy female protagonist (only for chapter 1 tho ) Her ultimate and design is O.p. and her personally. Knowing that she didn't kill Rantaro is just heartbreaking. 3.Himiko Yumeno. I love her voice, it just makes me feel kinda happy. After the third trial, she cried for Angie and Tenko and that made everyone cry also. She is really cute in my opinion, and she's a very loving character. 2.Shuichi Saihara. He has probably having the saddest moments in his life. He has to find the true culprit in order for more to survive. He had to kill Kaede, Kirumi, Korekiyo, Gonta, and Kaito. He's one of the best characters overall. *Drumroll* 1.Kokichi Oma/Ouma. What do I have to say? He's a really smart character. In chapter 5 he tried to trick the mastermind by d-dying. In chapter 3 he says he killed Angie to make the culprit say Kokichi is the culprit. Knowing he's evil but not one of the despair people like Junko is O.p. Everything else he does is awesome.

8.)Kaede - i know, she’s not very high on the list, but she id definitely not last on here ha. i love how interesting ambitious she was and i appreciated her empathy for the other students, even sacrificing herself for everyone at the end of the first trial. her relationship with shuichi is also super cute and i live how she impacted him to give him the confidence he needed to survive and help others survive too.
7.) Mikan - honestly, what a trip she is. While she was a little weird, i find her reasons for her actions incredibly sad, as she’d sometimes randomly ask if she should strip. she was such a tragic character and i felt a bit unsatisfied with her reason for killing... :( but i like her a lot. the crazier the better :)
6.) Kiibo - He’s such a cute character and i appreciate his genuine efforts to help everyone in cases and just trying to be a person! he can be a bit oblivious and i like his relationship with kokichi haha
5.) Kaito - damn what a man... i find him to be such an inspirational person to Shuichi and Maki and truly a great friend who you can always count on. he’s always so genuine.
4.) Chiaki - She’s not only cute, she is also a sweet character and super helpful. I think Weeby really explained how i feel about her bc he was such a kind and smart character. truly a symbol of hope.

Sakura - i like how her appearance hardly ties into her gentle personality. you would think she would be some overbearing character, but she was a sweet, misunderstood character and deserved better. Her relationship with asahina was so cute and she really put the others before herself. she was so tragic and i felt for her so badly bc of how the others treated and judged her. she was just so kind and thoughtful... :(
2.) Kokichi - i know, i know... best boy... but he really is such an interesting and complex character. Even though he’s done and said some shitty things, i think it was because he hid himself and lied to himself so much, he made himself go crazy. he has so much depth and.... hes just fun.
