Today we finally get to one of those music festivals I have been promising! I have been to Warped Tour in the US but nothing compares to the European music festivals, especially when it comes to rock & metal! \m/
Belgium is a bigger place than you might initially think when you look at the map. Belgium is a cultural hive, comparable to its neighbor France. This holds true with music festivals. Graspop Metal Meeting, held in Dessel Belgium, is one of the largest and most and most successful rock and metal festivals in Europe and the world! It is a 4-day slew of chaos!
The 5 stages offer a variety of experience for concert goers and the lineups are always dream-worthy. Over the course of a weekend this small industrial complex becomes a thriving city with thousands of volunteers and 10's of thousands of festival goers! If you like heavy metal this is a festival you need to attend at least once in your life.
The 2022 installment was their first festival post-pandemic and their 25th anniversary. The lineup, and this video, included performances from: Beartooth, In Extremo, Battle Beast, Tremonti, Powerwolf, Volbeat, Iron Maiden, Within Temptation, Heilung, Bullet For My Valentine, Black Label Society, Jinjer, Judas Priest, Korn, Beyond the Black, Five Finger Death Punch, Opeth, Shinedown, Deftones, Alice Cooper, Alestorm, Rival SOns, Spiritbox, Fire From The Gods, and the mighty Sabaton!

@@duikmans I did! But not for all of it. I made it a couple of hours before Gojira on Friday 🐳🐋 and had to leave after Avatar on Sunday 🎪🤘🤘🤘

Hey Chris, nice video you did to help people, I will actually save this video for my 2025 trip to EU :)
Im planning to attend on Graspop and HellFest (thats way im planning A LOT earlier haha), but the question is: 1 festival can be tiring, but it will be a dream come true. Would you think that going on 2 metal festivals can be kinda extreme? because you will need some time to relax and probably get ready to leave the country soon (if you plan to travel for another countries/cities ) for like 20 days.
Also, any recommendations on which country you had the best experience in general so far? My biggest motivation are the festivals, but if im there, what are the things/places that You have to see/experience? in your opinion, of course.

Hi chris! Thank you for this video. I bought the ticket for saturday with some friends. Its the first time for us at gmm, the lineup of saturday is crazy! Any tips to see as much of them as possible? And will the headliners take turns playing on the main stage? Thank you again❤
The headliners will alternate between stages. Band A plays one stage while band B sets up on the other stage in the meantime. There's no more than 10 minutes of no bands playing on those stages.
Waiting for GP to give us this years timetable so I can start planning.

Tbh, the biggest downside of Graspop is how you buy things. Everything run by the festival or within the grounds only accepts Graspop "tokens". You have to buy them at these vending machine things. If I remember right 1 token equates to about $1/€1. I don't drink so idk beer prices, but I imagine it's 1-2 tokens per cup. Food ranges. There is snacks for 1-2 tokens and food trucks for 4-5 tokens. Showers cost a token.
Tbh, If there is anything about Graspop I dislike, it is the token system. I would say food and drinks are expensive, so bring food to your campsite and leave drinks in your locker just outside the festival entrance. If you have any more questions, lmk! :)
One token costs €3.50 for the 2024 festival. A regular beer/soda is 1 token.
how was it in the boneyard , any sleep, how was the shower line ,,,,,
The campground is not to bad IMO. Of course it is a bit crowded and people can be loud, but for the most part it's not too crazy. I could sleep just fine, especially with earplugs, bring earplugs. Tbh, I was a filthy heathen at Graspop and didn't shower 😂😂 but that's because nthe showers close for cleaning in the afternoon when I wanted to shower. But it does cost a few GMM tokens to use the shower. So I assume they are clean if you have to pay.
Cool bra. I'm new here in Deutschland and i live near the triborders, Nederlands and Belgium. Graspop is only 3 hrs away. I was deciding to go there alone too as i havent met fellow metalheads or heavyheadz here. is the 4 day worth it? i mean the cost of the food and showers and all would be approximately so to say less than 100 euro or 200?
Only you can decide if its worth it for you. If you like the bands for all 4 days then I would say its worth it. And it is pretty easy to make friends! In the campgrounds or in the infield. Most people speak English pretty well. Cost wise, it depends on how much you eat and how much food you bring with you.... You can also get a bus into Mol super easily to get groceries if you want. But if you rely strictly on food within the festival i'd say its probably closer to 200 euro than 100 for 4 days. 100 would be slim but possible.
Also, congrats on the move to Germany! North Rhine Westphalia is supposed to be pretty nice I hear.
