I'm bisexual but only came out recently but growing up watching torchwood I had seemed to erase the bisexuality from it in my mind. Maybe it was because I was young and ppl only told me their was gay or streight or maybe it was my own internalised biphobia. But I thought all the characters except Jack and Ianto were streight (somehow forgot about his past girlfriend) and yes I knew Jack would have anyone but I saw that as a uniquely Jack thing, as in an alien thing. I didn't relize it could take place in real life. But now I'm out and rewatching tourchwood as an openly bisexual woman, it is so fun and affirming to see bisexuality so clearly displayed on screen
Yes! I grew up struggling with my identity & watched Torchwood, it really helped me to see bisexuality so openly portrayed! The show is so much fun in that way with its unapologetic openness & representation. 😊
HAHAH. It was totally unintentional, but once I finished the edit and realized I didn't even include one scene with them I thought there was something poetically hilarious about ignoring one of the main canon couples and was too tired to go back and fix it. I think I was so focused on highlighting the inter-group dynamics and had really wanted to try and demonstrate Gwen's bisexuality that no scenes with that couple came to mind. But I don't have any shade for them lmao
Funnily enough I remember pointing out once that every main character in the show (apart from Rhys) had bisexual relationships, or at least encounters.
@@holymoontos the fact that they’re all such strong characters as well really shows that lgbt representation in media can be done well, really well in fact! It’s a shame most attempts fall flat due to overbearing concern about being modern instead of writing a good character. Torchwood will forever be special to me for being an excellent bit of television with excellent characters explored through sexuality and their own individual development.
@@MrGreaves Yes!! Torchwood did a wonderful job normalizing LGBTQ+ representation. The Torchwood team were all flawed characters that were allowed to grow, make their own mistakes, and have individual, different personalities, without a focus on doing representation "right". The fact they did so all the way back in 2006 amazes me, the show truly was ahead of its time.
oh I’m so glad you put the clips of Combat in, that episode was suuuuuper gay PS loved that in Big Finish we had Gwen admit to having a crush on her female hairdresser 😉
Torchwood really did have "bisexual disaster" as a hiring requirement, and we loved to see it
YESSS
literally everyone in torchwood had a thing for everyone else at some point, its canon
YES YES. The Torchwood team were all in love with each other and nothing can convince me otherwise. So iconic.
they really did what every other show is/was afraid to do and said "what if every character was canonically queer lmao"
bisexuality was a requirement to work at torchwood, jacks rules not mine
3:15 Nonononononononono jack dont drag him into our bisexual mess too
You made my day...😂😂😂
someone: what’s Torchwood??
me: a bunch of bisexuals being chaotic🌝
And guns..
Bisexuals, Blasters, Chaos
With added on aliens.
‘doctor who, but its not family-friendly and is constantly a bi mess’
@@destrojer124 ABC, Aliens Bisexuals and Chaos
There was not a single straight person in this show and it was the best thing that ever happened
I'm OBSESSED with this!! They're all such disaster bisexuals lol
Omg that means a lot, thank you! And yesss they all 100% radiate chaotic bi energy hahah!!
everyone in torchwood is in love with each other and i will not accept any different
This is just jack and his army of bisexuals

Lol this is perfect Russel just took Doctor who and said “Let’s make it ✨ GAyEr ✨
Torchwood really was ahead if it's time when it came to making all their characters LGBT.
Loved this, and the bi solidarity grin you captured with Ianto and Gwen was so good 😭😭😭
Thank you!!!!

Ahhh, thank you so much (and you're welcome)! I'm so glad you enjoyed!
My friend: What is that Torchwood thing all about?
Me:
Funnily enough I remember pointing out once that every main character in the show (apart from Rhys) had bisexual relationships, or at least encounters.
Yes, that is very true! All the main characters apart from Rhys fall somewhere on the bisexuality spectrum, I think

We really have RTD to thank for that. And he is also gay but we don’t see his writing shoved in our faces which proves his masterful writing.
I want this video printed in my brain IT MADE ME SO HAPPY
it’s a real bisexual alien blast-
oh I’m so glad you put the clips of Combat in, that episode was suuuuuper gay

This is the least shocking most obvious version of this edit
HAHA thank you, I agree XD
I never noticed until I saw it and I was like this is what you want. People being so openly themselves that it's just the norm yknow
I love this so much! Still not over 3x4 tho 😭

Only reason I like this show is because of Jack. It’s so Doctor who but less family friendly and more gay
Im crying this si so funny
does anyone know where they can stream it free??
Torchwood is on HBO MAX if you are in the US. A good website for free streaming is soap2day (but this is just hypothetical for uhh legal reasons)
@@holymoontos oh thank you for the perfectly legal recommendation
