    Two places the fieldlite stands out would be with independent lights with headtracking/tobii eye tracker. And the other being for role players or people showing off their majestic hair and faces but not wanting to forgo the utility of a light.
    But yes it needs something else to make it a worthy choice for everyone else

    I like the light as a quick aiming aid, shots are gonna land in the light beam (hence narrow fov is good) and it’s much easier to see than the laser

      This is very true, especially for shotguns which have a spread somewhat similar to the under barrel torch

    Having spent a good bit of my life wandering around in the dark, both with and without a torch, I really like how well SC has simulated it. When your eyes have adjusted to the dark, you typically have your full field of view, as soon as you turn on the torch, that cone of light is all you see and everything else gets blacked out. Of course, in real life, you have a sense of direction and how much or how little you've turned. Not really any games that I've encountered really pull off that navigation well. Yet.

      Only games that even come close are VR titles really. And to be honest, i dont think its possible for a screen based game to really achieve that sadly

    So actually there are places in which you don't need a suit to survive. And if you wanted to take on night missions without armor or a space-suit then you would need the field light. Also, free-looking with a helm light means you can light up two areas at once; keeping a target area lit while scanning your sides. Probably not something I would care about over having a laser, but definitely something to consider. Also, if you're in a blizzard you might actually see better with a narrow light so maybe you should test out different environments? And one last thing to mention is that there is Ballistic squad gear that isn't sealed. I'm not sure if there's a benefit to that armor but I'm assuming its for mobility. ground missions like the recent SoO event might have actually benefited from such armor. I've never used it but maybe it doesn't have a light? So that could be another potential use.

      All valid points, and all considered. i'll address each in turn
      "... if you wanted to take on night missions without armor or a space-suit then you would need the field light"

      @@RobotSpartan thank you for the detailed response man. I have just two more for ya that I thought of when you mentioned tactical use. Do you know if the field light is more visually imparing to enemies? And do you know if there's any difference in another players perception of you? Like, are you more or less visible at range or at different angles? And is there a difference in placement where an enemy couldn't just aim at your light for an easy headshot?

      Alas, on the first three questions, you got me stumped as it's not something i've ever looked into, so i don't know the answer!
      On the placement difference, its small, but might be enough to throw the headshot aim off aye

    Its called a target spot. at least that's what we call them here.
    The focused cone of light that comes from under the barrel, and extends a long distance. its tight, and focused so you can identify if your target is about to shoot you. Its for, you guessed it, spotting targets. its secondary function is to dazzle the target. this is also why it is tight and focused.
    The headlamp has a wide field of view, idealeally suited for your main light.

      I suspect thats the goal aye, but it doesn't manage it. Range is near the same etc.
      if they doubled the luminosity however....

    Guess it's main benefit is having a light while you have your helmet off.

    In a dark combat environment, running around with a light on is a really bad idea in general.... Bad guys will shoot at the light anyway, but having it on your weapon is still better than having it strapped to your head. Just a thought. o7

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree in the sense that its better to see where the weapons pointed, but i'd argue thats nullified by the general mantra of "keep the weapon pointed where you're looking"

    • @stargeezer8427
      @stargeezer8427 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobotSpartan I meant IF you're going to have a light on, THEY can likely see your light from any direction regardless of where you're looking/pointing your weapon. So if they shoot at/try to hit where the light is, it's better (if even marginally) that they are technically aiming at a light on a gun that isn't a light right on your head... Significantly less chance of a headshot that way.
      Similar idea to why smoking in the dark is a also a really bad idea; you take a drag and create a nice bright glow right where your face is, and your enemy will know EXACTLY where to aim.

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stargeezer8427 ah sorry, misunderstood what you were getting at (or muddled your comment with another)
      its a very valid point in all fairness, and does make somewhat of an argument in their favour.
      weird side fact: that smoking thing is why its considered unlucky to attempt to strike a match a third time. First strike a sniper sees you. second he aims. third he confirms and fires

    I attach it because sometimes the helmet light points to the side when i ads

    Whoops didn't know these had separate keybinds, was thinking that T was using weapon attachment light if had weapon in hand. Noob!!
    So what is the fieldlight keybind by default, obviously torch is T?
