Thank to everyone for checking this video out. As I said, we’ve started our own in-game organization for anybody to join and learn more. discord.gg/2RTdvkfrna I’ll just go ahead and respond to some of the questions that may pop up: Yes, you will be able to play this with your grandchildren. No, the game is not ready for everyone. Yes, reputation can be considered a level block. No my average framerate is not 15, it is about 36 when not streaming, and 20 when I am. Yes, this is what we have after x amount of years of development. No, it’s not for everyone, this is for people who actually want to play Yes character movement can be a bit janky. No, honestly, that cave sound segment didn’t actually capture the correct sound lol Yes, I do actually have more fun playing with friends than other games I’ve played, it’s possible.
Streamed my first time playing last night, met a helping hand that viewed my stream. We linked up and he explained things to me to get me started. We became friends, he decided to pick me up with his fancy ship. He told me that I could take a seat in the co-pilot seat, so I did. We arrived at a space station and docked, where I attempted to exit the co-pilot seat... instead, I ejected by accident. Guys ship exploded on the pad, killing him while I was flung into space. 10/10, best first-time experience I've had in a game.
100% spot on. I took me hours to figure out that after pressing F i needed to scroll down to see Ground floor button. One would think they would fix that when they see people not moving the first hours of the game. But lesson learned. When stuck smash everything on the keyboard and scroll like a maniac the same time.
I spent hours just walking around Area 18 eating burritos and looking at stuff. The level of detail is just amazing. Same with my ship. The first time I got it spawned in and found the hanger, I just wandered around it looking. Then it got put away because I took too long. My first flight was not pretty. I disassembled my ship somewhere around the A18 spaceport. :(
I bought this game yesterday...spent a few hours running around looking for a space port, when I actually realised that I have to take a train to it 😀 thank you for this video,it helped me a lot!!!
I have watched dozens and dozens of videos about star citizen in the last year. I looooooove yours, it is moody, it is well done it is what kept me playing. I will be applying in your organization !! Thank you!
Very nice. Good touch on many of the things you can do in the game. Also, like that you did not white wash over the bugs and even covered some of the current work around techniques for dealing with them. And I agree with your final point. Even with the bugs and most of the content not in, this game is already better than a lot of the trash game developers are pushing out.
Thanks for the video. Great voice and I saw you on Captain’s Table on TheAstroPub’s channel. New player here and just watching a ton of videos before I buy anything. Just have to say that the community is very friendly and helpful to new players like myself. Going to watch your other videos and I’m looking forward to playing this alpha.
Love your stuff, Tomato. One tiny quibble, mostly cuz I'm older and *maaaaay* be hard of hearin' - think about subtitles when speaking command keys. Sounded a lot to me like you said initiating QD was 'pressing V'. I know it was B but it struck me. Anyways, added to my list of tutes on twitter. Good job
You've made a few videos this year that are of overall great quality and information. Great delivery without hyping people so they understand what the state of SC is. Liked and subbed for your efforts. Hope it helps your success
Either having a super computer or going into the game frequently to load assets and trying to at least stay away from huge cities and stuff - the game doesn’t run smooth most of the time unfortunately
Get razor app that boosts your system in ruining the game on a i7 16gb ram and rtx 2060 and it runs well for me. Also when you log in just log out and back in the the fps should be better dont ask how this works bc idk it just does tho lol.
Here’s what you really do in the first 5 hours. -You create a character and spawn in bed, you try to look around but everything is laggy as fuck so you spend a few minutes lowering graphics. -you realize there is no button tutorial so you go look at the keybinds and your eyes pop out of your skull when you see the entire keyboard utilized. -you use a youtube video to show you got to get to a ship terminal -a few more minutes in keybinds after you approach your ship and have no idea what tondo -you fly around inevitability crashing and re-do your spawning experience (get used to it) -you take a delivery mission and wonder why your character walks so slow. -people in world chat tell you to scroll up on the mouse. -the game crashes when you try to start your ship. -you lookup youtube videos on glitches and then wait 3-5 years before trying again once you realize the state of the game
I did the PI mission without knowing a thing about it. As I arrive at the station I see a ship parked outside, thinking at first it was another player and looking around and then deciding it must be a piece of environmental story telling yet to be contextualized I proceeded slowly floating around the eerie lighting of the derelict station collecting my clues and learning what transpired. As I am nearly done and turn around to leave there is an armor clad man rapidly and silently floating towards me with pistol drawn and red eyes glowing. I nearly had a heart attack. Once I was inside the station I assumed perhaps similar to Destiny I was in my own individual instance and was the sole man given the task on the station in the server. I did not at all expect to find another real person right behind me as I floated around light years out in the middle of nowhere.
Very important to know... I've been killed by ladders, Elevator Doors, Cargo Ramps, Just randomly while standing in a station, etc... You have to be okay with this going in as this game is still very much in an Alpha State no matter how good these videos make the game seem. I'm not saying it's not playable either as I take great enjoyment playing but it's because I accept that I'm going to die at times in very stupid ways. Sometimes when you ragdoll out of an elevator and die you just have to laugh as well...
This is great for new players like myself. A lot of games lately are doing the play Me For Free periods. I paid for 3 ships and when they do this I avoid playing the game because it's plugged. Same with Elite Dangerous and DCS. All 3 at the same time....Feb is a bad month for paying customers.

How is the first 25 min of this video NOT a bunch of 30k's and falling through the station floors, beds, elevators, ships, etc? Jokes aside, very good video! :)
I started in new Babbage. As a new player, I had a god aweful experience trying to navigate to find the shops for the tools mentioned in this video, In fact it was so bad, I gave up after two hours and just went to a different planet to find what I was looking for
No need for new players to buy anything as they will be dyeing so much they won't need to eat, drink or do any fps for the first month or so of gameplay. Great guide! #noeasymode Feel free to list all the ways to die in the PU.
I need a tutorial about the camera movements, they look so good. I'm trying to make a short but I'm really struggling with all the combos, it's like I need 4 hands for it.
I’m relatively new to the Verse and it’s still something I don’t know how to use. The local chat, global chat, etc...etc... During Xeno I was hanging out on a pad at Jericho with some guy and he was talking to me......but I couldn’t figure it out because the mission started. Ah well.
Just a thought, but with so many of the new systems now that the game has reached 3.19-3.20, I think it would be an awesome idea to re-visit this video idea again, maybe make another one all together. I just got a buddy into the game recently and found myself coming back to your video again for the 50th time at least.
Out of curiosity, is guns only used for criminal work? Like, are there quests that allow us to defend a planet, or go kill monsters etc idk, or is it all to go do bad things?
Guns are useful for whatever you like! There aren't any monsters or wildlife right now, but you can stop pirates from controlling a huge space yacht, you can attack pirates that are fighting the local security forces, and you can even join orgs like my own to have some matches with each other. They have plans for wildlife in the near future, and as they get more missions going I'm sure there will be more good reasons to use them.
I was actually going to buy this game, but then I researched some more and discovered that your save could be reset if the game updates anything involving the inventory. So I just gonna wait a while and hope they get out of beta within my lifetime
Hey! That's a bit inaccurate but I'll try to help clarify. There are no saves in the game as it's constantly updating like other MMOs, but your belongings are losable if you don't keep them with you or die with them on you. You will never get fully reset. OR You might be referring to the backend database resets that can happen, these happen occasionally to wipe the board when major changes are made to the code, and will likely occur until beta like you said! But they have only been happening about every 18 months.
I jumped in for the free weekend. First it was a nightmare getting the code to play the game THEN I finally log in make my character. I sit up in the bed. The character turns to the wall clips through it and I fell to my death . After that I exited and went back to elite dangerous
I got the game 1 yr ago got the titan and 5000 uec credits, got stuff for mining ect. have not played for a bit when i got on again i only had 62 uec and no mining equipm3nt. roberts said that happens during updates and nothing they can do, but I could do a reset which sounds kinda iffy. is 62 uec enuff to do a delivery to get money back? do not see a way to put any uec for cash in my account?
The outside graphics look good but the ship internal cockpit graphics look to me at least extremely dated. Its so bad for me that it breaks immersion. I fly DCS so have that to compare it to. I really hope they do an update on the screens and readouts
Blew up trying to figure out how tf to even land on the space station after asking permission with a marker that showed me the inside of the building 😀
Brilliant video. I'm looking to jump into this game. I've bought my first ship and just flicking through a few videos before I get started. Ive been trying to tackle the fps issues first lol
Awesome video man. You seem very knowledgeable about the game. Out of curiosity do you know when they are going to start hosting servers larger than a 50 player capacity? That is my biggest turn away from purchasing the game. I've heard that millions of people have bought into the game oh, but the game only can support 50 player servers. You would think their biggest priority would be service stability increasing player cap. There is much to be said if the game is struggling with only 50 players. And nobody talking about the elephant in the room is a bit concerning.
Right now one of the biggest developmental priorities is called server meshing. If you Google it you'll see a lot about it, but the general idea is that servers will be able to handle a set amount of players, but a variable amount of space. So a single instance can consist of 30 servers, some handling battles, some handling cities, some handling random caves. This is the end goal. There are other improvements and changes here and there that aim to relieve some of the stress a server might feel, but that is primarily how "hundreds of players" may be able to play together. It's most definitely not the elephant in the room, though. My video tomorrow will talk a bit about it, but like I said, this is something they've been working towards on the backend since at least 2017, and it's mentioned here and there as progress continues.
@@SpaceTomato thanks for sharing. You got a sub! Is server meshing experimental? What happens if they dont get it right? Very scary to know they are trying something that has never been implemented....
@@JohnSmith-bh8um as far as i know its quite experimental. i suppose that's why the game is taking so long to develop, they have to create all these new technologies.
How welcome are these groups to a newer player who may not really play all the time (Say, once a week for only 2-3 hours)? My free time has been dwindling as of late, but the game does look fun.
100% ready to jump in the game with you at whatever activity level works for you. In our org there's almost always something doing something, you can jump in and out as you please :)
True, but this was meant to compliment my 10 tips guide that I mentioned and linked, that does talk about the issue council. Although, it is true, some people will skip that.
I’m starting out in this game soon and plan on getting a ship my friend and I can co pilot and do some missions in. How do we do missions together though? Is it possible we both get the same mission and just complete it and both turn it in? Can you share a mission? Or do we just split the profits from one mission? Can anyone explain?
hey mate, i saw you on morphologis' video. i'll repost my answer here for other new players just in case if you have a member in your party you can go to your accepted contracts in the contract manager app and share them with anybody in the party. the aUEC is split between you both so you don't have to worry about paying your mate a share

The first 5 hours is trying to use an elevator and then figuring out how to take a train. :D
Calling your credit card company and telling them your card was stolen.

Yep and my hallways glitched so i died once after crashing my ship on a planet xD

I'm Assuming you mean the Alienware R10. If so, the boot drive is an SSD I believe. This is likely your C drive.

Doktigt rätt in i monnen på Fidde Rövertsson såååååååå!
Great video. This is *way* too cinematic to not have more views! You can really see the effort in this.
Thank you! Wanted to try and give newcomers the best experience!
Brilliant video. I'm looking to jump into this game. I've bought my first ship and just flicking through a few videos before I get started.
Ive been trying to tackle the fps issues first lol
Take your time and really discover everything it has to offer! Hope my stuff can help!
In our org there's almost always something doing something, you can jump in and out as you please :)
shoulda mentioned the issue counsel at the end. no beginner guide mentions it.
Can anyone explain?
hey mate, i saw you on morphologis' video. i'll repost my answer here for other new players just in case
if you have a member in your party you can go to your accepted contracts in the contract manager app and share them with anybody in the party. the aUEC is split between you both so you don't have to worry about paying your mate a share
