Bionicle dreams are such a weird concept. Like why do we dream of stores having bionicles again or about finding pieces we know we don't have. I legit dreamt that there were mystery boxes of "fruit throwers" which I guess was just a random box of mata nui matoran.
there is something so magical about seeing them in stores, just all the canisters on shelves, I've been having those dreams so often lately I nearly shelled out a hundred bucks to buy an unopened set off of ebay... should have done it
I’m pretty sure the “Makuta is an entity” thing is in reference to the blatant retconning of “Makuta”, initially used in reference to a single being, later going on to be used for an entire species with _the_ Makuta being changed to Teridax.
I am Maori and I love bionicle. Pissed me off when they made bionicle change names. Its literally awesome that they wanted to use our language and culture for inspiration. Knowing local politics as I do now the whole thing was probably an attempt to get money out of LEGO.
eh idk i mean when the Pixar film coco came out they did something familiar and regarding the day of the dead and disney trying to copyright it so maybe lego tried it at a smaller scale?
I thought that that was a cool thing also. I didn't know for a long time that they were based on Māori words, but when I found out, it made me more interested in Māori culture. I remember some of the words they felt were being misused, but also that many were used in a really appropriate way. I get changing the misused ones, but a few of them seemed a little too much, so maybe you're right about the money thing.
The Matoran being not native to the planet makes a lot of sense considering how it's canon that they'll suffocate and die without their masks. Not a trait one would normally see with life that evolves on a planet.
Phenomenal iceberg! I personally think the "makuta is an entity" thing is how Makuta was presented in MNOG, more as a spirit of destruction instead of what he ended up being
"The Council" isn't referring to either of those things, it's referring to the loosely correlated backdoor chatrooms for some of the community heads, which people call "The Council" cause it sounds funny and dramatic that way.
I do wonder how the Matoran view the concept of free will. It wasn’t supposed to be part of their original design, and they seem pretty okay with things that go strictly against it. Like how there’s a plethora of mask powers considered immoral, but mind control isn’t one of them. Or the concept of Destiny in general; how they’re fine knowing they have one fate they can’t change.
Destiny and fate are not the same thing. Fate is about the present, where every decision an individual has made has led them into this circumstance. Destiny is about the future that can't be determined because of the actions an individual makes. I also looked up the difference between fate and destiny and found that: fate "refers to a predetermined course of events that is inevitable" while destiny "refers to a predetermined course of events that can be shaped by an individual"; fate "is believed to be inevitable; it cannot be changed, no matter how hard you try", while destiny "can be changed by an individual", and fate "is often associated with negative connotations and tends to give rise to pessimistic views" whereas destiny "is not associated with negative connotations and give rise to optimistic views". So I think the Matoran do have free will, and don't have one fate written in stone. Even in the film, "Web of Shadows", Vakama concluded that destinies are not written in stone, and that he had to find his. I don't know if any of this does any good, but yeah.
About the xenoblade thing, it's kind of a meme in the xeno community to point out how funnily similar the two properties are at points. However it's worth noting that while the universes are similar, both take place on the backs of machines, both have mutants that wipe out unwanted entities, both take place on ocean worlds, etc, they're completely thematically divergent. Xenoblade is a series about defying fate and destiny to make a better world. Bionicle is about embracing ones own destiny in order to do the same. Also the source of this inspirations seem to be different. With xenoblade largely drying upon Gnostic themes and bionicle largely drawing from Polynesian themes and storytelling. Also it's s 10/10 game highly reccomend. The switch remake is one of the best games of the generation.
Lukas Sprehn I think it’s more about finding your destiny in spite of what you or others made you think it was. Vakama and Matoro being important examples

Thanks for using my brick-built bonks in your video. I have a strange variant of the Tower of Toa with plain non-studed strings you have to knot and 1 x 2 green bricks with a notch in them.
I also noticed with the head shields on my bohrok kal that my tahnok kal had a much more translucent shield than the others that doesn't suppress blue light shining through it like the others, I'll alo check if any are misprints, but I don't think I have any.
The idea of breaking the part molds is quite sad. Couldn't they just store the molds in a safe or something? I don't think breaking the molds will prevent bootlegs from coming out because I think they can still come out regardless. I also don't see how they can't just bring construction figures back since they could just make new molds. If Bionicle does come back with a third-generation, I don't think I'll; buy because one thing I liked about Generation 1, as well as 2, was that it was very different from normal LEGO bricks.
I don't want it to come out with another reboot, but a continuation or expansion of already covered events or time periods. Something to fix up the mixed reception of the glatorans, simply by putting other more heavily mechanical lifeforms on the planet, maybe in the planet, that could be interesting, fit similar themes of the biomechanical aesthetic, and providing pieces that can be shared with toa and other matoran pieces. Mixing and modifying your existing sets with new sets is one of the prime appeals of collecting newer series sets and I dont remember anyone bothering to mix their sets with parts of the glatorans, and just the concept of rebuilding an actual organic creature with the biomechanical creatures always felt weird and discouraging to me and other kids back in the day.
Def have had “the dream” before but I also distinctly remember a bionicle NIGHTMARE I had: It had to be around late 2005 when I was 7 cause it would have been after I saw bionicle 3. Basically I remember evil Vakama hordika (at full “real” scale, so like 6 or 7 feet tall) was hunting me down and I was hiding in my real life apartment and the last image I remember seeing was him standing in the front doorway of my apartment at night w his flame tools and glowing green eyes being pretty much the only details visible of his silhouette as he finally cornered me Yeah I had a couple dreams in the 2010s of finding tahu mata and a bohrok on shelves again but damn I never had another dream like THAT

Not sure if it's been mentioned or not but I'm pretty sure the "the council" entry refers to the meme that there's a big community council that controls everything since TTV, BS01, BZP, RSG etc all communicate with each other and iirc TTV mentioned that there was a group chat full of those sites heads and various other important and high ranking community figures to make communication easier during the contests thus there was this "secret council" that rigged the contests amongst other things

Like of course I noticed the parallels right away, but the idea that Matoro's consciousness survived and later split from the Ignika and Mata Nui to transfer itself to Zane is fascinating.
I had a dream where I walked into a lego store to find the 2016 g2 sets but the fire sets were displayed as rare for some reason, with a label saying so. When I saw the main bionicle shelf I saw that the Stone sets were gone and there were instead thunder sets out, with matoran box sets. It was weird but also kinda cool.

The idea that the Toa Metru are anti-police is just laughable, they ARE part of Metru Nui's law enforcement. Teridax had just disguised himself as Dume and hacked whatever Vahki he didn't destroy.
The toa are like white blood cells in a body, while the makuta are like infections. The entire inspiration of mata nui and the toa came from bionicle's lore creator looking at a pill of medicine and imagining workers inside that would go fight the disease in his body.

@@OSSOYT hahah thank you. Glad we could be a small part of Bionicle History 😂🙏 I just looked up those videos and oh my gosh. I wonder what robomaniac7 is up to these days. I used to talk to him on Skype way back. Do you remember Watati or Xakanu? (I think that was the second guy’s name)
@@jacobm2625 Yeah, Robomaniac just disappeared and it doesn't help that his videos are all marked for kids so years of comments are gone now. Maybe one day he'll return. Never heard of the second guy but I love Watatti. His fight animations were some of my favorite videos when I was a kid.
@@OSSOYT It made me laugh to see my video in here...this brings back a lot of memories. My brother and I loved Bionicles when we were kids (or I should say teenagers)...I got super into the storyline and read whatever books were available at the library. It's weird to think back on that, seems so long ago now, but it was fun making Bionicle videos and felt like we were part of a community with other kids who liked them and made videos with them on TH-cam. 🙂
1 correction I can say about the Finnish translations of the comics is that they did translate few of the Toa Inika comics later, but also stopped that after few issues with the last comic (I'm aware of) being the 1 where it ends with the Toa Inika defeated at the end.
This was great! I would've loved to have seen more stuff about piece misprints, because there's some whacky ones out there. I also would've enjoyed more story about the extended lore of the Matoran universe that a lot of fans probably don't know, such as the Makuta's home island, the layout of the islands as they correlate with the GS Robot, the podcasts Greg Farshtey made about the adventures of Brutaka/Rhoodaka (the name escapes me), etc. Still very cool though 😁
I believe "makuta was a being" could potentially mean that he was a great being, but that makes no sense. The other idea i have is that it's a reference to him originally being a sort of vague force representing destruction. A kind of physical representation of how you'd take apart your legos to rebuild them into new configurations.
I would say pricing did cut into G2 chances a bit, they put Tahu Onua and Kopaka at bigger pricepoint in wave 1. then 2016 summer wave and and Onua was in the 14.99 again while Kopaka is in the 19.99 price which has his Unity Beast who has the same gear function as the Terak (Onua Beast of Earth)
Papu and Rangi are probably inspire by the idea of Papatuanuku and Ranginui from Maori legend, they are the mother and father of the god pantheon in Maori mythology. Just an interesting though
To clear up what the "the council" is on the at 7:47, is that it's basically what some fringe 4chan bionicle groups, and other obscure groups like Solekian off shoots, call the group big name biotubers/members hang out. Specifically; members of TTV, RSG, BSO1, Beaverhouse, etc, and it's mainly because of the weird things and annoying things they do, like it's no surprise Eljay doesn't get along well with Callan, or really anyone for that matter, RSG is kinda scummy in their mask production, i.e. incredibly fragile masks, with a stupidly high price tag and allowing some level of art stealing, BSO1, for the same Eljay is memed on, they're all giganerds, and then Beaverhouse certain members are INCREDIBLY outwardly political, which I have personally had to deal with... They coined the term "the council" because it had the funny connotation of sounding like they were the guys with the red string webs and tin foil hats, whilst poking fun and clowning on them for the mess ups the often do, like the rigging of Helryx that made everyone dislike TTV even more....
where did you manage to find that animation with tahu and his parts with the vahi at around 46:35 ,bc I've been searching for it and can't findit anywhere
"Damaging brands would not be in any companies interest" Slight disagreement their, but more with the spirit of the statement. IF a brands Identity doesn't mesh with the identity the parent company wishes to convey than it is explicitly within the interest of that company to axe the brand. Bionicles original run was rife with violence and religious imagery that when reading up on franchises production you very much get the feeling LEGO did not like (be it either the clause for MNOG not being allowed to have Toa's weapons hit any other character or the push back from indeginous people's groups about cultural appropriation for the matoran language and names) add to that the product could've missed the demographic that they where aiming for (one of the reasons cited for the cancellation of Invader Zim) that by the time G2 rolled around, with realistically no way of divorcing new and old Bionicle with anything less than a theater screaned feature film, they where probably glad they had Ninjago as the front runner instead. It Is a shame, and I hope with the introduction of the "Adults Welcome" tagline they might be more receptive to have Bionicle being associated with them. Just my two cents, great vid!
In short,Lego should've fully embraced a more teen or even adult side, which would've been the Bionicle lore, and sold Bionicle as such. Everything else can be for the kiddos.
Was anyone else disappointed when the great beings were revealed as just glatorians, i always thought the great beings were us, creating our own bionicles
Weirdest thing in the world is that I came across this video by accident but I remember having Bionicle movies as well as the Bionicle game 😂😂😂😂 I fell in love with them because my friends and I loved Legos and when they dropped Bionicles I bought one first so I could brag about it but then I realized I actually really like them more then just plain Legos and so my collection started now I have a couple that are in a box in storage that I forgot about till today
Gonna keep a list of what I don't recognize 2:33 /biog/ Didn't know this one, but doesn't surprise me since I've never used 4 Chan 6:06 I vaguely remember the confusion Faber caused around this time but couldn't remember at all what he posted that kicked off the discussion. 7:29 Don't think I've ever heard this take before, though as you mentioned Greg debunked it. 10:40 This one also threw me through a loop. Matoran can't give birth. 11:17 Never heard of this prototype. Only one I remember was the playset version of Keetongu, but a training ground sounds cool! 13:46 Never heard of these either, though I strongly doubt it. 17:13 I remember this easter egg, but never realized they called him George! 18:46 Man that's a deep cut. I wonder how many places like that are out there? 21:06 Never knew about this. That's a shame. 22:23 I agree, that title doesn't seem to have anything to do with the canon. 25:23 Now that's a cool take! Realistically I can't see how it could be pulled off, but it would explain why Kestora inexplicably appear in both places. 25:58 Another out there one. I really doubt it, as I'm pretty sure Hewkii mentioned Macku once or twice as a Toa. 26:30 Man, fan theories are really doing me in here. I mean, all they ever say is the Turaga went mad. They never go into detail about how or why they were considered insane, so perhaps there was some kind of logic to their actions? 27:13 Spooky, may have to check it out. 28:56 Again, fan theory, guess I gotta delve more into the speculative side of things sometime huh. 29:54 That's a tad convoluted, but nice to know what else the "original" author is up to. 30:3332:3633:1140:4041:0642:49 Fan theory fan theory fan theory (Though that Takua 64 game looks dope) 31:04 I completely forgot the GA granted Kraata Powers... that is a very interesting take 34:32 I remember a lot of old scripts but don't seem to recall coming across Makuta being an alien. That seems to clash with the cancer-based story they were going for to be more disease based, which I'd assume is why they cut it. 38:03 I always considered it more of post-apocalypse given the Matoran were unwillingly removed from their technologically advanced home, but I guess this works. 39:30 I vaguely remember hearing this, but maybe I'm thinking of the paper not existing thing.

I haven't played the Xenoblade games, but that's kind of interesting.

I’d argue that at times BIONICLE has been about making your own destiny too. But not always.

the moving bionicle video is a trick. it uses a lego motor in the moc's neck to turn the head
Is no body going to talk about how is 23:39 there is a anime version of one of the Piraka as a anime girl.
The 8-Bit Cryoshell song was epic
Love the effort thats gone to this video! Good job lad!
Funny Robots are great
1 correction I can say about the Finnish translations of the comics is that they did translate few of the Toa Inika comics later, but also stopped that after few issues with the last comic (I'm aware of) being the 1 where it ends with the Toa Inika defeated at the end.
Thanks, Nostalgia
Imagine if LEGO hired a team of Maori consultants for Bionicle G3 and have it be heavily based on Maori legends and folklore.
I’m gonna listen to this while I sleep🙂
Might work.
Freakin awesome video I had no idea about BMP and I’m boutta spend a bunch of time on that 🤩
Papu and Rangi are probably inspire by the idea of Papatuanuku and Ranginui from Maori legend, they are the mother and father of the god pantheon in Maori mythology. Just an interesting though
FINALY A BONKLE ICEBERG
My first Bionicle was actually Pohatu!.
Yup, my first bionicles was a red Metru Matoran and the red Vahki
Nuuhri and Nuuhrahk
mine was the blue one of the line with the rap in it

If velika isn't mentioned at least once I will be greatly disappointed
That Trump with the large Toa Likan mask on his face reminds me of what I used to do with that piece when I was a kid lmao
I don’t have bionicle dreams I have the same dream but with mars mission instead
Goddam those lime joints...
Stopping localisation happened after 2005 in Denmark too. Yes, LEGO’s own home nation! SHAMEFUL. Only the movies continued to be localised.
Them: Bionicle introduced children to anarcho-primativism
Me, who grew up to be a caveman: Well, this explains everything.
where did you manage to find that animation with tahu and his parts with the vahi at around 46:35 ,bc I've been searching for it and can't findit anywhere
If XenoBlade copied Bionicle,
*Bionicle copied the future war of Terminator*
then terminator copied what?
7:30 was this a Bionicle commercial? Where is this from?
That was the Bionicle The Game commercial. It is now a famous meme in the community.
6:58 I saw that Bee Movie you tried to sneak in 🐝
11:11 Big BZpower debates surrounding Matorans’ capacity for love…
This video would be great if the mic wasn’t an inch away from your mouth and you didn’t sound like you were half asleep😂
THANK YOU

But the toa mata including
Tahu are made of prododermis not anti dermis so the armor wouldn’t effect them anyway
hey wait I had the red one
Now I find the real bionicle iceberg :,)
Weirdest thing in the world is that I came across this video by accident but I remember having Bionicle movies as well as the Bionicle game 😂😂😂😂 I fell in love with them because my friends and I loved Legos and when they dropped Bionicles I bought one first so I could brag about it but then I realized I actually really like them more then just plain Legos and so my collection started now I have a couple that are in a box in storage that I forgot about till today
Great video but where’s Good Guy?
I had all of them at one point
Jan 01 March 01
Soul lick recieved
So many matoran because none of them know how to treat their powers when they get them
All cops are badddddd
Nice!
where is the "don't google this" part of the iceberg? lol
i wonder if there's an updated iceberg after the whole *ahem* "leak"
BIONICLe.
This is groovy!
Someone should investigate the connection between Marvel's Eternals Movie and Bionicle too
great video
Very best
Hhhhuuuh. Now actual Vo-Matoran exist as the lightning element. Crazy to think there was something that long back that was so similar.
Donald Trump would be a Yuge Bionicle fan
Gonna keep a list of what I don't recognize
2:33 /biog/ Didn't know this one, but doesn't surprise me since I've never used 4 Chan
6:06 I vaguely remember the confusion Faber caused around this time but couldn't remember at all what he posted that kicked off the discussion.
30:33 32:36 33:11 40:40 41:06 42:49 Fan theory fan theory fan theory (Though that Takua 64 game looks dope)
31:04 I completely forgot the GA granted Kraata Powers... that is a very interesting take
34:32 I remember a lot of old scripts but don't seem to recall coming across Makuta being an alien.
Dang, Voriki came out early.
TAAAAAAAAAKUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAA!!!
Wait. The Crossing was made in polish?... YES! FUCKING YES!
Hate that this is an iceberg and the image doesn't use the obvious Mahri arc imagery
19:24
Hmm
The only reason it was hard to follow was because they constantly jumped between mediums. Too convoluted my ass.
I’ve seen a more complex one :P
parcl is shutdown, no i dont know how to buy bootleg bionicles :(
