  • Muay Thai highlight of Anantasak Panyuthapum's precision in controlling the range of a fight.
In this video, Anantasak's ability to keep his opponent exactly where he wants him is highlighted.
This strong golden era fighter uses several weapons to keep Singdam O Aukritt at arms length for the entire contest; the two main weapons he uses are his jab and his thigh/hip teep.
The jabs thrown are minimal in commitment, i.e. he doesn't step forward a great deal - sometimes not stepping his rear foot in at all. He springs right back to his starting position to avoid the counter and draws Singdam onto one of his attacking blows such as his trademark rear uppercut or elbow.
His teeps are also thrown at close range, and do not rise above hip level. Again, this keeps Singdam within striking distance at all times which allows Anantasak to dictate the range of the fight.
The jabs set up the teeps and the teeps set up the jabs...
The slow-motion elbow is the strike that cuts Singdam and effectively ends the fight. In their first encounter, Anantasak finishes the fight with the exact same elbow and set up.
This fight took place at Lumpinee stadium in 1993, and serves as a muay Thai masterclass in controlling the distance of a fight (and opponent).

Yes. I think theres like a 30/35 % of them that are. Unlike in english boxing where its like 5/10 %.

I think his style would be really good in a street fight. Teeps to keep the opponent at bay, low kicks to destabilize his posture (without lifting the leg too much and risk getting it caught), few well thrown punches and devastating elbows

idk how well teeps work in street fights. especially with how easy it is to catch the kick with no gloves.

@@TripleEightss they work great trust me, I ended my first street fight ever with a hard unexpected teep to the solar plexus while he was trying to square up walking towards me because I knew I wasn’t about to try to box him and risk getting fucked up lol, sent the guy flying on his ass and took the wind out of him.
