Here we have a man looking at pieces of paper with dots on them, which are codes for which buttons and pedals to push, in what order, and for how long. This particular code was originally written down centuries ago by an expert in making the combinations of those button-pressings and pedal-pushings sound so pleasing that they have the effect of momentarily transporting the spirit, if indeed we have one (which I believe we do), to a wonderful place of reflection and peace. And when they are recorded, as they are here, we share that momentary joy with each other. While all of the parts and procedures may seem very basic, they join together to be really quite magical.
A breath of fresh air! Still just as fresh as the day it was written nearly 300 years ago. That's the way to become immortal - leave a legacy so great that it never dates. How many people do that?
