I was in Dublin in August. In general, the people were friendly and kind. I met an African expat taxi driver there who said he would never move to the U.S. because he’s afraid of gun violence. He said that if a single child in Ireland died from gun violence the government would immediately pass a law to stop that. He said he was very happy living in Dublin.

The experience of someone whose African is not the experience of someone whose Black. Stop conflating the two - you need to listen to how the biracial Black & 2nd gen immigrants who were actually born in Ireland feel about the place because they have the lived experience of experiencing Irish society from top to bottom. You're going to get a very different result. Also Ireland has a mad issue with young people leaving as soon as they can & brain drain since kids have no future here - its completely normalized for every young person you know to move to Australia or the UK. They cant afford homes, there is a stagnation of jobs & frankly the culture, while comforting at times, is deeply stifling. There's something wrong when Irish kids feel like they have to leave the country to have a quality of life where they can be themselves.
Ireland also has a "just sweep it under the rug" culture. People don't talk about problems in the community here. There's a big reason why a very famous serial rapist who was accused of murder (and acquitted) moved to Ireland & said "Here people don't bother me". Also the level of child sex abuse that is swept under the rug with people whispering about "(insert name) down the way has some odd interests". Nobody reports them, nobody makes sure they arent grooming more victims - they just choose to ignore it & gossip. Right up until the person dies & then immediately canonize him as "HE WAS JUST THE BEST GUY AROUND OH CHRIST THE SADNESS IS OVERTAKING ME".

I agree 100% with Stephanie’s assessment of Ireland. I went a few years back with a chip on my shoulder expecting the Irish in Ireland to act like those in the USA. To my shock, the Irish is Ireland were SOOOOOOO nice to me. Everywhere I went they were so nice. I was given free things, special service, and lovely conversations!!! Can’t wait to return - and I am an African American female.

@AlexandriaV thanks I appreciate your perspective, but you do realize your tone on the goddess above was a bit rude. Let's do better and treat one another with more care. You seem upset that people are blind by the horrors in your place. Thanks for opening our eyes to another side. It may be difficult for her to hear you when she felt attacked. Be well love! I trust my intentions will be received with the best of you. What is from the heart reaches the heart. May we all give more of our ❤ to bring more light to annihilate some of this darkness that is spreading.

@@JackieBenjamin-n3t It's amazing how the moment you actually had to interact with someone who grew up Black in Ireland who points out how your single conversation with a migrant isn't accurate to the native Black experience in Ireland *or* speaking on the lack of hope for opportunity facing Irish youth - you have the gall to claim you were attacked.
Maybe don't hop on the internet & announce your anecdote of visiting a place you went on *vacation* one time & then get upset when someone whose actually from the place tells you what it's actually like being from here while Black culture *or* getting upset someone explained to you the reality young people are facing by leaving this country in droves.
Yes, everybody's nice in Ireland *to foreigners* because the Irish culture's expectation of conduct is to nice to foreigners & passive aggressiveness is the lingua franca because that's Irish society as a standard - don't cause a fuss.

🎉😢 When immigrants come to America they are not only warned, but they see how white people give each other privilege, how crazy😵‍💫patriotic they are, how the media portrays Black people, how Black people mistreat each other, the vulgar rap music, and especially, how Black people mistreat their own children🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏽‍♀️! So they want to have the good life. Not the struggle life. When I say black, I mean the collective. They don’t know about our history and even though slavery and its effects are a part of our history, it doesn’t mean we should continue to treat each other as if we are self hating slaves on a plantation. Many blk folk dislike moral, classy, educated black persons, calling us bourgeois. This must end! We need to be better as a culture of people for the sake of ourselves. It's an okay place to live, but don't expect utopia. What you can expect are frequent cutoffs of water and electricity, depending on where you live. I normally chill and respect the space but want to add something for those considering Argentina. This sister is correct! Argentinians consider themselves to be Spanish adjacent. They pay the Spanish to move there and validate them. They also ask their people to marry the Black Argentinians. Not because they like them but to breed out the Black population. Just food for thought, post war N*zi officers moved straight to Argentina after the war. That's why some Argentinians speak German. Definitely be safe if visiting there. I hope that BW live well and find the safe spaces out there. Merida, PVR, Belize(San Pedro/Caye Caulker very easy visa), Nice FR, and Thailand have been welcoming to us and my female relatives. Safe travels.

We do had that but we also had an enormous influx of post war poor Europeans immigrants, included a very big Jewish community. In our favor I’d say everybody f*ck everybody so a big part of the pop is really mixed like my family. I do not think BW will feel any kind of discrimination there if you do try to assimilate and learn the culture but it is not an easy country to live even for Argentinians, the economy situation is nothing like you ever lived in America, most people are just worry about the next meal and how to pay the bills than the color of your skin, you have to be aware of that. My advice is learn to drink Mate and you will have an extra advantage, being real here. Btw we vote for Kamala and I’m absolutely furious with my community. Take care ❤

@@FTYC2022 it is a drink we share, like a tea we drink from a dry gourd, you can search Yerba mate, Argentina mate 🧉. It is an acquired taste because is bitter if you drink it without sugar but has the benefit of being healthier than coffee, it is also stimulant and diuretic to the beginner so be careful 😬. I also recommend you look into Uruguay, very small country but more stable and with a more mix pop of Black people or mulatos, same with Brazil. Highly recommend that don’t even try to understand politics over there because it is almost impossible, find the people that accept, care and love you and enjoy the culture.

Hey, I'm a psych student and there is absolute truth to what you said regarding people changing when they get here. I just finished a developmental psych class and we were taught that US- latin born people here were more likely to physically discipline their children than their forgein Latin born parents for example. there were demographics of other groups as well. I'm a us- born boricua ... it made me wonder about colonialism and the realms of our psyche and thus our lives it permeates. I don't know if we'll ever fully understand.
Thank you for this video and your clarity in this time.

I hope we know Błack women don’t randomly insert ourselves in other people’s causes and struggles just because we want to or like to or because we hope to save everyone. We stand with causes because we’re pre-emptive and discerning and because we know that whatever affects others is coming our way and is going to hit us 100x worse and the hardest. We know we WILL take the full force brunt of it and without fail.
There’s been nothing in 🇺🇸 history that has hìt others harder than has hìt us. Nothing. Within the past 50 years ... 80s jobs moving overseas, 90s cràck, housing market crash, covìd.... nothing. So, we’ve never had the luxury of sitting down idly by, as spectators and saying we’re not in it. It’s always been a no win/ a stand with the lesser of two evìls for us as we try to beat these things off at the pass with others in an effort to lessen the ultimate intensity that we know is coming our way (not that we “want to” do it.) For us, there has never been a choice.

dwn2earth260 - Ok, for me I would never place my life/ the lives of my loved ones in the hands of whìte America for them to figure out what’s going to happen to me. They cannot and they will not be trusted to make beneficial decisions on their own concerning me. They never have, and in fact i can count on them to make harmful decisions concerning me. It’s our involvement and throwing a wrench in the system that has MADE them do even the least little right they’ve done. Left to their own devices, they don’t care about us. They’ve made that perfectly clear. It’s not that we “want” to get involved and that we don’t want to stay at home and just worry about ourselves. We literally have had no choice. And as of last Tuesday, we better know that.

I moved to Mexico in June 2023. This is, of course, anecdotal, but I think there's a difference between Mexicans who live in Mexico and the ones who have moved to the U.S. If you think about it, Mexico just elected their first woman president and she is from the leftwing party, so nothing like the party of the orange clown. And, the election data showed Latino/Latina voters, only a fraction of which are Mexicans. Also would include Cubans who are heavily to the right and all the other people from all the other Latin American countries that Stephanie mentioned

I think they do not recognize them as "Afro" Mexicans because they may nott want to make a distinction of race between Mexicans. Ultimately, they are Mexicans, just like we are Americans whether the government wants to recognize us as such or not. The hyphenated nationalism could be a US thing but I can see the importance of wanting to be recognized. All that really matters is how anyone identifies themself.

I am from New Zealand. All my family are part Maori (indigenous people of New Zealand) I would seriously suggest black women give New Zealand a look. My American born wife who is a woman of colour and I are looking at going back there after this disastrous election.
New Zealand is not perfect and does have problems with race relations, however, it is head and shoulders above the USA. The big cities are okay, but if you can live in the smaller towns in the North Island you will have a much better experience. The North Island of New Zealand is most diverse, the South Island the least diverse. I prefer the North Island.
Australia is absolutely racist as hell.
I am hoping we are starting to see the the start of the breakup of the USA. Take care of yourselves black ladies. You absolutely deserve the best, as you have carried this country on your backs for generations. I think it now time for the disintegration of America to begin.
