Hi!! I’m also a second degree student and am starting my first cna job soon before I go to nursing school. I’m doing the 3-11 shift. Your facility sounds really nice, your ratios are usually 1 cna to 8 residents ? And you said it can even get slow at times? I feel like most videos I see always say the nursing homes are so much harder than the hospital, what are your thoughts on that?
Hello! So my facility we have around 57 patients total and our 3-11 shift ration is 1 CNA to 11-12 patients. Yes! I definitely think 3-11 shift is abit slower in my opinion because they would eat dinner and back to bed. But it also depends on the situation. I personally never worked in a hospital but I know CNA in hospitals where they mention it’s abit chaotic or if you work in a big hospital you may be the only CNA for the unit. I think nursing homes are better bc you can have help from nurses and other CNA if something happens or you need help with a patient. Like I said it also depends on where and how it is :)) congrats on your first CNA job!!💖
