Look up LanguageTransfer on TH-cam and find Spanish. Your mind will be 🤯
Here's another one: -ty in English becomes -dad in Spanish. Electricity -> electricidad. Clarity -> claridad. Specialty -> especialidad. Generosity -> generosidad. City -> ciudad (a little different, but still follows the rule).
university - universidad

That's great. We're off to Spain next week and every little helps! Imo x
Wow!!! Thank you for this precious information. This makes the whole process learning much easier ))

Spanish cognate rule is much easier as we Filipino especially we from mindanao used to speak these words.
13. Most words that end with -ity- normally end with -idad-
1 accessibility - accessibilidad
2.capacity - capacidad
3. activity - actividad
4. sexuality - sexualidad
5. electricity - electricidad
6. accidentally - accidentalidad
also -tion- to -cion-
Jostan Vallis actually (Accidentally It’s Accidentalmente, As I know, accidentalidad, isn’t a spanish word.
increíble please more of theses videos
Wow awesome! So it wasn't just random. That's cool! Thank you
Me Gusta aprender Spanish!
Amazing
I am loving this channel! Muy bien! Excelente! 😁
wow, thanks so much for your clip. Gracias
Me parece que fue olvidado uno de los mas importantes: ~tion > ~ción
but then still you missed to tell that
words ending with *ity* changes to *idad*
ex. University ~Universidad
Unity ~ Unidad
City - ciudad ?
Generosidad- Generosity
words that end in -ous change to -oso
words that end in -al are usually the same
words that end in -ct change to -cto
words that end in -ance change to -ancia
words that end in -ic change to -ico
words that end in -ar are usually the same
words that end in -ary change to -ario
words that end in -ant change to -ante
words that end in -ble are usually the same
words that end in -ence change to -encia
words that end in -id change to -ido
words that end in -ment change to -mento
Another cognate rule - not mentioned.
English words that end with "--able" or "-ile", or even "-ult" can also be changed in a few Spanish words to "-il".
For example -
Difficult - dificil
Facile - facil
Portable - portatil
I love it ❤🎉😊😍🤩💗💓❣✌😁
Fantastico - Gracias 😊💃✨

Cleverly donne ! Thanks! you are my teacher ..solamente..:)
This really helps, thank you very much.
Muy util. Gracias¡
In rule 1, the first two cognates are "incorrecto." Curious is curioso not "cusioso" and Delicious is delicioso not "deliciuoso"
Good video but you have to remember that not all words are cognates. Some are "False friends" or False cognates
Stuart Pickering Perhaps the most classic example is the word embarazada 😊
seguramente utìl, gracias!!
mucho interessante, el tiempo proximo puedes andar el articulo con las palabras? eso sera bueno
Gracias! Gracias! Gracias! Pueden por favor pronunciar las palabras English tambien ?
Es curso para americanos no español knot
what about -tion to -cion?

that's not it, it's "Muchas gracias".
Awesome nice piece of info...
Sure would be nice to have that chart at 3:23 to download and save.. Anyone have it or one like it, in word or something like it? Even a pdf would be fine.
Very helpful..
Very good tips but I have one suggestion for a slight improvement. You claim cognates are words from 2 languages that are spelled the same or similarly, but to be cognates they must also have the same meaning. After all there are false cognates - words from 2 languages that are spelled the same or similarly but have completely different meanings. An example is embarazada which most English speakers would think means embarrassed but it actually means pregnant. The Spanish word for embarrassed is avergonzado.
How about ity to idad ? such as university to universidad, electricity to electricidad, community to communidad
Awesome video! Thanks!
It's very useful. Thanks a lot. Me encanta

Cusioso × Curioso ✓✓✓✓✓
Deliciouso × Delicioso ✓✓✓✓✓
One of my students found an error in rule one. Curioso is spelled wrong and delicioso is spelled wrong.
I would only feel comfortable using these trends if I had a list of the exceptions, because there are plenty.
this helps me alot
but are these general ruls or just for the words in the Examples?
These are general rules for many other words too! (with only a few exceptions)
