I’ve got some Duracell‘s designed for electronics. I run them in three Stealth cam cameras on a video setting. I put them in last spring and used them in the fall as well. They have about 50% power remaining now and I will still use them again in the spring. I’ve gotten hundreds of videos at this point. It was videos like this that made me decide to spend the extra money for better batteries. Thanks for doing this video. Cameras sure have come a long ways from the old boxy 12v’s and D-cell days.
I switched from alkaline to NiMH about 8 years ago in my trail cams in the Black Hills of SD because of the voltage drop when temperatures dipped into the low 20s. All of my NiMH have (most are eneloop) have held up fine over time and even in sub-zero temps. The Project Farm channel tested the eneloop NiMh and a number of brands of lithium ion, and it was clear that not all brands lived up to their claimed ratings.
Great video. We use Energizer Max in the summer, and Energizer Lithium spring and fall for the cooler weather. Had Duracell's explode in camera's and ruin them, so we stay away from them. I would love to try the Lithium Ion's, but that would be some pretty expensive bear poop knowing my luck.
i just bought those ebl rechargeable lithiums and they didnt work in my spypoint flex,,,,, after figureing out that the dimeter was a little bigger , i took the red plastic off all of them and then it worked,,, that little size difference was causing a bad contact in the battery housing
Same. Bought 2 new trail cams and they both say not to use rechargeable. I used energizer rechargeable and my bushnell won’t take night photos. Gonna have to go regular energizer because lithium has gone crazy on price. The systems in these cameras must be really picky on the voltage now. All in all energizer has the best batteries in my opinion. I’ve been using their rechargeable for years and the fact Duracell doesn’t even offer lithium is still funny to me they’re out of the game.
As always, great information. I would like to know about cold temps effecting battery life. We live where it can get mighty cold during hunting season. Thanks again.
Hey man you did not go into self discharge rate Self discharge rates are where you have the battery not plugged into anything and goes dead Nimh battery self-discharge and it is considerable over a you could lose up to 36 to 97 percent with no load As well as they have a lower output voltage modern electronics which trail cameras are do not like this and they will shut off Lithium ion is a good choice and they self discharge 1.5 to 2% which is phenomenal But they're big issue is that bears like to eat them Your best bang for your buck is alkaline batteries the discharge rate is next to nothing the price is extremely low the operating voltage is good but they last one-third the life of a lithium So if you want a that won't be eaten which is cost-effective go with Energizer Max or EBL alkaline
With price not being the primary factor - Why would some camera retailers (and others) recommend NOT using rechargeable batteries? (do they own stock in battery companies?) Have been using Alkaline by various name brand mfgs....... none seem to last very long. With this criteria, it sounds like Lithium is just about my only option. Opinions?

Biggest issue I have been having with batteries lately is leakage. Have you ever had that problem with rechargeable ?
Only time I had leakage was when it was well below zero I think the batteries cracked.
My camera won't work at night with rechargeable batteries.only regular batteries
That's gotta be something to do with the cameras not the batteries.

Need more research on cold temps affecting the various kinds of batteries. Maybe another video someday.

I don't know the answer to that, it really doesn't make any sense.
