    Thank you for this. My son and I study in TKD, but we have been playing with some practice weapons at home. He has just this past week shown interest in Kali/Escrima Sticks and this will be fun to start us out with learning a double stick flow.

    Paul, many thanks for another one of your excellent and informative videos. There are many unqualified so called instructors on You Tube right now who are teaching the masses incorrectly within the martial arts disciplines. It is really wonderful to have The Kali Center. Paul, I really enjoy practicing Kali and how you are able to logically integrate the didactical teachings of Kali as you parallel those teachings with the clinical aspect thru " Drills / Hand to Hand Combat / Weapons Training " in a real time scenario of workouts that you instill in me. Paul, please keep them coming along.

    Super important double stick drills! I can only imagine what this would be like with swords: an impenetrable hurricane of razors. How does one counter such a flurry if you are equally armed?

    Hey Paul! I watched your whole video yesterday and I hear where you are coming from. I think that some of it is just unfortunately the nature of the beast. I'm not trying to use expense and time as an excuse. I have a disability, and literally live on a limited income. I have other priorities. It's just how it is. I can't really change that. I'm not at a point in my life to be able to do anything about it. And I think you explained some of the reasons why unless I was really interested in "self defense" and "fighting"... it doesn't really make sense to me to travel for something that I technically already have. I already have enough martial arts background for what I want. Most of what I get out of watching your channel is drill variation, which I can pick up just from watching and listening (because you are a good teacher and show and talk about the important aspects!) So don't take any of what I'm saying as criticism. Just pointing out a reality that I have long since come to accept for myself. I say this in order to try to give you the perspective from the other side of the screen. I don't know what the magical answer is. I also want to use Kali for mostly exercise and personal discipline, which is actually what I think most of your viewers do too, whether they know it or not! Maybe changing the focus slightly into body conditioning with martial arts could be a bigger seller to people if it was marketed in that way. (Just shooting ideas out here from the peanut gallery! you do not have to listen at all!) Lastly. I have always wanted to see you travel and collaborate with other TH-camrs. Examples would be Maul Mornie (Maul565 on TH-cam) Michelle Christa Smith (Staff Spinning and Flow collaboration! or show the difference between what works (and doesn't) from a Martial Arts perspective!) The Gracie Brothers (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu), and Jason over at Precision Striking. I feel like any of those would be an excellent opportunity to collaborate, and get some live instruction from them that you could show for your channel. Please Check 'em out if you get a chance. I'm not trying to waste your time, and I'm also not saying that you don't know any of their stuff. I'm just thinking that the exposure could help you get more followers, as well as training with people who have also mastered their respective arts is always beneficial, in that they can help point out things that the rest of us can't see. I would also love to see you try to take on a Longsword class. Or any other HEMA class for a day. and just see if you can't pick up things that translate into Kali... And have a blast doing it at the same time! - (would love to see you suited up in full armor!) and share that with your audience! Lastly since you mentioned living on your property out in the country now, all I can say is embrace what that brings to you. Go hunting. Or fishing. hiking, or start a hobby. Like woodworking, or metalwork. Or hell, painting. anything. even farming your crops, raise animals. It will teach you new things and expand your brain in new ways. And there is a ton of satisfaction from making things with your own hands! I hope hearing any of that helps. one last thing I'll point out is just the self confidence thing. You may not be able to see it quite the same way now, because you have spent your life doing something that gives it to you kind of by default. But you have it now. You have that killer drive to succeed. That's the greatest thing Martial Arts has done for you in my humble opinion. You don't really realize how much it is worth unless you don't have it. Take what you have and focus it into whatever you want to be and you will be successful. Thank you for everything you have shared with this channel!

    Hey,
    I’ve been off and on trying to get into Kali, but one problem I keep running into is that my wrists start to hurt after using the sticks for awhile. Any idea as to the source of this problem? Form? Stretching? I’d like to know so I can continue Kali and enjoy my experience

    • @fielramos3560
      @fielramos3560 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's probably because your body is still getting used to the movements, and maybe your form needs work too. so a combination of both?

    • @paganpatriot4770
      @paganpatriot4770 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lighter sticks. You have to build those muscles up. The sticks you start with don't have to be 1lbs each. Lol look around, you can find lighter ones. I don't want to play advertising agency here but the bloke I order from makes a great youth set. Nice, sturdy as rebar, unbreakable and light. It's not weak or insulting to start small then work your way up. We ALL had to do it. Anyway, you can find him on Facebook, but his website is szaboinc. Google it, look at his youth sticks. Inexpensive and light... just what you need to keep you going! THAT is all that matters

    to anyone who wishes to learn the next step for the drills is, you need to extend your hand fully and the stick must reach to the farthest it can. Kindly go to the kali dojo/training place so you would like to know the advanced moves. =)
