1.What the crowd says before each beatboxer/ looper starting their round is “3,2,1, beatbox”. It will change depending on the beatboxer’s/ looper’s nationality, for example if they are french, the crowd will then say “trois, deux, un, beatbox”
2.Yes, Rythmind used an “unreleased machine”- the mk2.
3.Right before the buildup in Rythmind’s second round, he said “only 2”, so Brez and the crowd could guess the pattern of the sounds.
Just an addendum to 3. Brez and Rhythmind showed each other their rounds at the hotel before this.
Another fun fact regarding this battle is that Rhythmind apparently screwed up a lot in his rounds, especially the 2nd. Brez mentions it in a video, said he felt confident he would win as he noticed parts where Rhythmind wasn't executing his track the same as he heard it before.

They start each battle with a countdown in the competitors native language. So they were counting 3-2-1 in French. Also they are good friends so their sportsmanship is on some other time haha. But what brez said about rythmind having an unreleased machine with a ton more options and power he wasn’t lying. But next gbb everyone will have the new machine as it’s finally released for public. But boss have out 10 of them or something to winners of gbb19 and the participants of the kickback battle 21 edit: brez and rythmind showed eachother their rounds at the hotel before the event along with a couple other French loopers. Brez was just being stand up gentleman about it and helping the crowd
They gave one to the KBB wildcard winners and the judges. Rythmind was one of the judges for KBB Loopstation

Rythmind had the "RC-505 MKII" and only a few people got it before it was released for testing and feedback to BOSS. So yeah, basically a few competitors had a machine that was not on sale yet. BreZ had the older version "RC-505".
BreZ is an entertainer, he engages with the audience the most and performs like he's doing a concert rather than a battle imo
When they go go engage the round, they tell, three, two, one, but in french we tell "trois, deux, un" and the man who looks the camera with insane faces all the time is called BBK, he's a canadian champion really strong !

BreZ said that him and Rythmind played there rounds for each other beforehand so they knew what was coming. That last part of Rythmind must have been something silly he made on the spot lol.
rythmind planned that last part because brez and rythmind were suppossed to dance in a specefic way and when brez was talking to rythmind he said that rythmind did the dance wrong. watch brezs reaction to this

No not really, the sections are right but each judge gives points on every category, it's not splitted between them
Brez has been part of, and arguably robbed in, multiple battles which ultimately get recommended for people to react to because they are so hyped. The man is a freaking genius..

The melody part here at 21:40 , is what was used for the final drop. I believe he used either the Phaser(with Step Rate)or LPF (with Step Rate)

Crowd reaction, complexity of the mix, each part of the beat (bass, melody etc) is being judged and also, the overall presentation
Rapping prob adds a point. I think the judges judge the competitors by the complexity, fullness, creativity, etc. of their songs. I think the rapping makes BreZ's music a little more full. So yeah, prob adds a point.
I don't think it adds too many points, but they do take some points away for if the lyrics don't make too much sense or if they can't understand it. dunno though, I remember seeing it somewhere but forgot from where
The judges don't use a point system for live battles. They just vote for whoever they think won. Each judge might have criteria that they judge on, but its not point based.

@@daviddotorg yeah but they got some sort of way of judging.. it's the same in like boxing or other sports. There must be some rating system they got in place.
@@rados1aw There isn't a "rating" system for 1on1 live battles. There is for the eliminations and for online battles such as the kickback, but there is no point system for 1on1 battles. The individual judges probably look for things and weigh them differently, but there is not universal system that is enforced on judges

I think you should react to Beardyman next. He does a different kind of act compared to those battles, but he truely has taken beatbox and loopstation to another level. He created an entire "machine" to exploit his voice and create entire music on the spot. It's unbeliveable what he's able to achieve in pure improvisation. His Ted Talk is a good way to understand what his art is all about, but his Swissbeatbox showcase may be more enoyable to react to.

in my humble opinion , it really doesn't matter that much about a looper is singing or not ...
loopers have won without singing or somthins like that .
I think the judges evaluate the whole package of the track they hear in the order of sound quality , sound design , surprizes etc ...
and of course singing IS in the package of the tracks of singer loopers , (and if they do it good) surely it would impress everyone (as judges)

To explain the countdown that the host Scott Jackson does at the beginning of each round,
They translate the countdown of "Three, Two, One" to the respective language of the country the competitor is from. In this case, both Brez and Rythmind are from France, so the countdown is "Trois, Deux, Un".
So-So's exercise reaction coming soon maybe?
brez second round,
the sliced robotic sounds he made in the beginning, he did it with the slicer effect, and with the particular settings, it is basicly an arpegiator, so it goes something like 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1, and in the end he reversed the melody he made and pitched it one octave higher with the arpegiated sounds, so it sounds like it is a little off beat :)

They're counting in the language of the competitors and then once they get to three they say "BEATBOX!" in other words saying "1,2,3 GO!"
it's actually the reverse, it's 3 2 1 Beatbox! (in french "trois deux un", because both competitors are from France) ;)
brez was truly on the limits of the rc-505 ability
As a non beatboxer you should keep in mind that they're doing this live, with their mouth..
