This is my cousin from my father's side. He's from curryville Calhoun ga. He left his home and went over London to sing. And came back and bought his slave masters land.

My father managed Roland's concert bookings in the U.S. in the 1950's. He was a close friend of the family until his passing. His daughter, Afrika, stayed in contact shortly there after. Wonderful man.

I was a teenager in Harford County, Maryland when one of our neighbors - music teacher in the public school - brought Mr. Hayes to sing for us. I will never forget the voice, the songs and the heart of a spiritual man who knew his Savior. I am still trying to find the song that my memory mixes up with Plenty Good Room, that has the lines, “He said to Peter, James and John, ‘Tis written I must die… go thou and prophesy!” I think Mr.
Hayes must have known the power of prophetic words, that in D.L. Moody’s description was poetically “in the seed.” “I have put My words in your mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of My hand, that I may plant the heavens…” Isaiah 51:16
