The party was a huge success. I drove the boat over to a cute little bay. Anchored the boat and went for a paddle. After a few hours I came back. Motored the boat around the inner basin of the fjord. Mored thd boat and went home. The weather was perfect and everybody was happy. The sail back out was a joy, as soon as i got a little bit of breeze. Im glad you are enjoying the videos. After the regurn trip im starting to release the sail north for the summer. That was by far the best holiday I have ever had. Good sailing and perfect conditions most of the time. How is the arm doing. And is there any good news regarding your engine. Thanks for watching and commenting Paul. Best regards from Jarle
@@StemtoSternSailing Great to hear that all went well. The arm is great and back to normal. unfortunately the motor has not been started yet. I am having problems getting hold of a mechanic. I have called 10 and only one has called back. Hopefully he will be taking a look next Friday. Fingers crossed that he will get it going. All the best, Paul.
Thanks Martin. It was a bit hectic getting all the ropes sorted in time. But it was great fun. The sail bacu out was more relaxing. I've noticed that you have released a video, but I haven't found time to watch it yet. I prefer to watch the whole video at once and this one was a bit long. But you are on my to watch list. I'll ofcourse drop you a line in the comments section. Take care. Best regards from Jarle
When i went back to loock for your video, I noticed that I had messed up. It wasn't you who had put uo that loong video. I was all caught up on your videos. It was Mads Tofte (another Danish TH-camr) who had put up that video 🙈... but I'm looking forward to your next one. Best regards from Jarle 😅
Me and the boat against the wind and the cruel terrain. At one point in the video I think I said that I was about 50 meters from the rocks at the apax of the tack. I measured from my Navionics track the closest one i could find was 75 meters left to the rocks. I guess when I push my comfort zone i guess my impression in the moment and the actual reality might be a bit off. Thanks, your comments means alot to me. Best regards from Jarle
@@StemtoSternSailing well, better to estimate being closer and being wrong with room to spare than the other way. Your boat is about 12 meters, so 6 boat lengths to rocks is pretty close.
I trye to have enough space to at least one glitch during the tack or a jibe. Once during a jibe I messed up twice in the same jibe. The jibe was in front of a fish farm during a bad rain squall . Two things went wrong. First i pressed the stand bye button instead of the engaged button on the autopilot (did not notice), as i trimmed the main , the sheet for the genoa slipped out of the self tailing winch. I immediately grabbed the genoa sheet trying to get it under control. Ti was a torrential downpour and i was in my oilies constantly looking downward wit the hood over my head. The waves went completely flat and caught a glimps of the navionicks i was doing 8.5 knots. Sudently the bom came back over. I looked up and noticed I was aiming straight for the fish farm. I scrambled to get the boat jibed again. I cleared the fish bye maby 15 meters. This happened right after i stopped recording of the video. @@StemtoSternSailing Yikes. Too much going on to film, Jibes scare me at times, especially with lower booms. Hopefully you have head clearance on your. The rain makes it just that much worse since every thing is slippery.
That last cut is about 2,5 nm long. It is the most violent and intense sailing I've ever done. I was worried that i wold blow out a sail or something in there. In 3 weeks the video of the return trip is released... mutch more relaxing and i get to show of the a bit more of the beautiful landscape. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment. Thank you so much. Best regards from Jarle
@@StemtoSternSailing Yah, on my dinghy i am looking at 50 USD on breakage. I think the suite of my new sails, main jib and spinnaker were 2200 USD. You would be looking at 500-1000 USD on breakage (minimum). It adds up.
Fantastic sailing Jarle.👍🏻⛵Hope the party went well and looking forward to the return trip.⛵

Worst wind, but you are smiling and made it just fine albeit bit of work.

@@StemtoSternSailing Wow. The wind funnels down the fjord or swirls around? Sounds like a rough time. I would worry about breaking something too.
The worst thing about breaking 1 thing on a sailboat is that you always break 2 things . First the bit on the boat then the bank 🙈
