  • Ingredients:
    1/2 cup Chana Dal (yellow chickpeas lentils)
    1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
    A pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
    1 small Onion, finely chopped
    1/2 teaspoon grated Ginger, optional
    3-4 cloves of Garlic, finely chopped
    1 Green Chilli, finely chopped
    1 Tomato, chopped
    1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
    1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
    1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
    2 tablespoon finely chopped Coriander Leaves
    Salt
    1¼ cup Water
    1½ tablespoons Oil
    Chana dal or chana dal curry is a protein rich simple dal (lentil curry) made with split chickpeas popular in India. This recipe is one of the healthy Indian recipes and easy to prepare at home using basic ingredients and spices, which are easily available in kitchen and generally used to prepare routine dishes.

    It came out amazing 🤤 Tried it today in my pressure cooker. I love that it's a one pot recipe and it came out so well. I soaked it for 30 minutes and then pressure cooked it on low flame for 5 whistles (around 20-25 minutes). Yummy. I also added some kasuri methi.

    How many minutes do u keep daal in pressure cooker coz I couldn’t understand wat do u mean by 5-6 whistles??

      Keep the daal in cooker for 10-12 minutes over medium flame.

    What’s is whistle ? in pressure we don’t have it in Canada

      Yes, you can cook this dal in instant pot (follow the same recipe, cook on high pressure for 10 minutes in instant pot).

    It is simple but my dal did not cook well even after soaking it 1 hr I tried it 2 times

      same here, i think its because the dhal needs to be soaked longer when its old

      Soak it for longer time like 3-4 hours or else you can also boil it in water to make it little soft then pour it in pressure coocker this will also work but best is to soak for longer time.
