    Alnmouth does have a station on the East Coast Main Line from London to Edinburgh. In the video, we have made you think there was no station. It was the branch line to Alnwick that closed with no services to Alnwick. You can come to Alnmouth by train!

    As an American whose obsessed with History, it's hard to wrap my brain around what it would be like to live or visit a place that has roots back to the 12th century such as Alnmouth. Every time i turned a corner my mind would be blown away with the fascination of everything before me! I don't know that I'll ever make over to Great Britian but if i do, I'll know ill never want to leave! Especially considering it is the land of my Ancestors!

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I was just explaining on another comment, how we could just visit these places and not find out the history and very soon whilst pretty they would all be the same. Once you know a little about its past then your imagination can really start to try and work out what it was like and how they lived. It makes each place totally different and extremely interesting. I hope one day you can come and see it for yourself. Thanks for watching.

      Its amazing, I live in Northumberland. You kinda take it for granted, then you go for a drive or a ride or watch a video of it lol and marval at whats at my fingertips. My school trips were to Hadrians Wall, Holy Island and many of the castles we have.
      I hope you make it here, the history is just everywhere. Yes I really do know how lucky I am. Happy to answer if youve any questions on where im from.

    I was born here in 1960, grew up there until my teens, in abject poverty, it's now a millionaire's haven.

    Thank you for showing the world my beautiful Historic and mostly idilic County to the rest of the world. I feel so blessed to have grow up in Morpeth and now Live 2 miles from Seaton Sluice. Can you all imagine where we went to as kids in the 70's what a place to grow, no wonder I love history so much. Enjoy the series everyone, I shall.
    Thanks once again.

    The East Coast mainline goes through Alnmouth and some trains call there. The fare from Newcastle is $7.93 USD. The video seemed to indicate that there was no longer any train service. It is the larger place, Alnwick, up the River Aln, that is without train service.

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for pointing this out. I have put a note in the first comment. I can see now thanks to your comment that indeed Alnmouth station is on the East Coast line. So Alnmouth branched off to Alnwick and that line ceased but the main line continues.

      @@MemorySeekers I wouldn't feel too bad about it. Even folks whose income is derived from shuttling punters around the tourist /sights/sites of Ye Olde England sometimes miss things. I remember getting a day tour around the Cotswolds from Oxford quite a while back and while the driver/guide could point out the line of the old Roman Akeman Street, he was completely ignorant of an obvious line of a disused railway in the same vicinity. 😉😊

    I was at the Schooner late 1950’s when it was a Newcastle Breweries/ James Deuchar hotel, busy times in summer then with families staying on holidays. There was a Thames barge anchored in the river for a few months, sailed up from the south, owner had to wait a good while to get over the bar. We also got a cricket team going on the golf course by the club house.

Just knowing that it used to be a huge port exporting gran or like in Seaton Sluice a huge bottle making works, just makes you imagine the streets in a different way. How it once was, how the lived and the impact they had on society. Love all that! ☺

    O me miserum! I don’t want to come across as unfriendly but as someone who lives in the NE of England I wish people would keep quiet about it. We’ve managed to keep it a secret for years. Proper modern living communities in an ancient, diverse settings and land/seascape are attractive but we don’t need “blow ins” buying holiday cottages or being Rachman air b & b landlords. We live here, love to share it but don’t want you buying property.
