    This is a good explanation of a complex subject. It all comes with time and practice. The mark of success is when people can understand you when you speak in Portuguese. I try for an understandable accent instead of a native accent. In other words, when I say “”pão” (bread) I don’t want someone to hand me a stick (pau).

    Sabes, até agora, a unica coisa que era difícil para minha pessoa, como brasileiro, era os sons de R rolado, já que é difícil manter esse som para o falar normalmente, então resolvi falar o R puxado da garganta, como os Cariocas fazem.
    Agora que chegou a parte das vogais, eu simplesmente estou perplexo.

      Então tenho boas notícias. O R rolado não só não é obrigatório como se tornou minoritário nas últimas décadas. Quanto às vogais, nada a fazer. Lamento. :)

    This is great! I face problems with vowel sounds when I hear natives speaking: the vowels at the end of words somehow disappear as they talk so quickly.

      You're right, but the flaw there isn't necessarily yours. Many times, native speakers get lazy with pronunciation. You can still get used to it. :)
