I just re-watched end of an era. I think comparing the two matches starts and stops at them both being Hell in a Cell. The End of an Era was all about stakes, Punk and Drew was all about brutality. Both matches are fantastic, with my personal favorite being Punk and Drew.
I think the Nia Jax match is a testament to one of Jim Cornette's biggest philosophies in wrestling. You should aim for a difficulty of 5 and an execution of 10, not a difficulty of 10 and execution of 5.
I loved the Punk v Drew build up into Clash at the Castle (tons of respect to both wrestlers), but I hated this match and was sick of the feud by the time of Bad Blood. Slow and boring match for me. I found Nia's match more interesting despite quite a few in ring mistakes simply because of the Tiffy angle. I pray the Punk v Drew feud is finished and if some think this a great match well then at least hopefully they realize this should be the last match for probably at least a few years between these two. I hate and have hated every single Cody Rhodes title defense, but the man is the best champion I've ever seen overall. Cody has just had rotten opponents. I've been sickened by the non-stop "We want Roman" chants post WM40. I've even found Roman's briefs interludes before Bad Blood tiresome. KO v Rhodes has been puke with Orton the cherry on the top of the puke sundae. I've not liked a lot of this. BUT, this main event for me was THE Mega Powers and far more impressive than Hogan and Savage tagging back in the day. Two massive baby faces combined. For me this match was OVER before it began and of course Fatu in opposition was perfect for the story line. It was already a perfect match in my mind without Jey Uso and The Rock. This main event destroyed Punk v Drew. Bloodline story is about to go into over drive and set the world on fire. Not many will agree with much I've said, but hopefully we can all agree that the future looks bright for all involved (just keep Drew and Punk away from each other.)
Punk Vs McIntyre…man, that match really scratched an itch for me. It felt so good to see a Hell In A Cell match where it actually felt like two guys who hate each other trying to kill each other, and it wasn’t just a perfunctory spot fest because “hey, it was cool when ECW did it.”
This was the first PPV/PLE in a long time that I remember the first match being awesome and the rest of the card being a dud. I didn’t even pop for the Rock. Cheers
Drew and Punk had a heck of a HIAC. It didn't have to involve them getting on top of the cage or someone going off or through it. Hopefully WWE learns from this.
Triple H has known this for awhile now. Look no further than his Bad Blood Hell in a Cell match with Shawn in '04 where they didn't have to leave the cage to be brutal. As a matter of fact, WWE has rarely booked top of the cell spots probably the early 2000s unless Shane got a wild hair and decided he wanted to dive off of something. Triple H treats HiaC like classic cage matches: They've got a dangerous aura and reputation, no one gets in, no one leaves, and the flippin' door stays shut!
I agree with Larson regarding the story, but giving it 4.75 for that reason is a bit silly when some AEW shows has a 1-2 week story and ends up getting a 5 star rating. This story between Punk and Drew has been a good one. They deserve 5 stars or more. They left everything in that ring.

There was more Bad Blood in the Ladder match on Smackdown than Priest vs Balor, Priest vs Balor would’ve benefitted from a spotlight match on Raw in the Main Event in some sort of Steel Cage/No Holds Barred type match.

I think there's a lot of things about the main event that bump the main event up for me. It's all of it. Not just the physicality that takes place between the bells. The entrances were epic. That fact that such huge stars and legends are teaming together for the first time. The first physical interaction of Jacob and Roman. The feeding off the crowd. All of it as an entertainment piece and not just the wrestling moves from bell to bell make it worth more, in my opinion. That's how I look at it.

Fell asleep at the main event. The Hell in the Cell should’ve closed. Definitely shouldn’t have had so many DQ finishes. The Judgment Day match was the most predictable.
HIAC - 5 Bayley and Nia - 2.75 Finn and Priest -3.25 Rhea and Liv - 2.5 Main event - 3.5 Show was okay but everything aside from opener was plagued with some issue or another.
I actually really like Nia vs Bayley, mostly for Nia, Bayley as a wrestler is great, but as an overall performer I can't get into her. It was probably my second favorite match on the card, but If I was going to give star rating, the only one that might get below a 3 was Balor/Priest, and I'd cap Roman/Cody vs Bad Bloodline at a 3 because the first half was so uninteresting.
Taker vs HBK qnd Taker ve Mick are still better but it was very good. Would have liked a little more wrestling in it but given the state of their feud the extra violence makes sense so its a small knock.
Punk vs drew: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was torn between that or 4.75 but than I said what the hell why not I was very entertained from Starf to finish. Bayley vs nia Jax: ⭐⭐ they tried their best but some of the stuff looked really sloppy & Tiffany is starting to feel like theory with the failed cash in attempts. Priest vs balor: ⭐⭐⭐ 1\4 a sold match but maybe Finn should've won it. Liv Morgan vs rhea ripley: ⭐ this match sucked & wasn't a ppv quality match, michin vs Chelsea or iyo vs Bianca should've been on the ppv over this bullshit & this wasn't a 3 start match. Roman & cody vs bloodline ⭐⭐⭐ sold match but not a main event quality match that it should main event over the hell in a cell match.

Very much a shit sandwich for me, didn't care about anything except the opening and the close to the show, and some of the stuff that happened in the middle definitely sealed that for me.

The quality of the matches didn't exceed that which we normally get on tv in most cases. This was a good PLE in terms of advancing storylines but not a very interesting one in terms of match quality. Since I feel required to proactively comment on it...the hell in the cell match type is not my thing. I'm not big on garbage matches with weapons and all that. The fact that this scored a good in my ratings speaks to the quality of a match type I don't care much for. They made it enjoyable.

Btw these just goes to show anyone. If you see these "star" ratings. Just look at how you get higher ratings. You have to physically be abused by another wrestler and be bleeding or use thumb tacks or fall in glass. These are test dummies out there. This are people doing this for a living risking their bodies for your cheat entertainment. Matches don't need a ton of flips , canadian destroyers or even hits where you no sell. If you do ratings you do it based off how well you were entertain. If you weren't that entertained then don't do ratings on it anymore lol. No point putting yourself through something you don't find entertaining.

The fact that people are upset if someone doesn't give punk and drew 5 after giving it 4.75, shows how brainwashed people are about star ratings. It isn't like someone is saying it is 1 star if that were the case, I would say they are not a fan of wrestling. Giving star ratings is something fun to do, it isn't gospel. No it is taking away from the performers talent and what they put into the match. Another example is charlotte and rhea and bayley vs sasha. Both should be 5 stars

@scottdanielson4955 no not at all. However when rating a match you have to take into account the story and promos that led up. 5 stars is thrown around to way to many matches where no selling occurs. This punk/mcintyre is the best feud in years alongside how this match delivered.
Then rate it 5 stars. Stop getting worked up about a 1/4 star difference. I'm not gonna argue with people who give it 5 stars and not gonna argue with those that gave it 4.5 to 4.75. They are all great ratings, it isn't insulting to the performers to give a great rating. And trust me Punk and Mcyntire could care less about what anyone thinks to begin with

I've seen recent Raw's I enjoyed more than this PLE and the scores reflect that. The quality of the matches didn't exceed that which we normally get on tv in most cases. This was a good PLE in terms of advancing storylines but not a very interesting one in terms of match quality.
Since I feel required to proactively comment on it...the hell in the cell match type is not my thing. I'm not big on garbage matches with weapons and all that. The fact that this scored a good in my ratings speaks to the quality of a match type I don't care much for. They made it enjoyable.

Stars for me. And the main event 4. The rest were 3. Except the Nia match 1.5 that botch took me out after that. I respect your opinion. It’s hard for fans to be fan anymore and be at each others throats
