Thanks for this. My lens had completely jammed. Following your video I was able to strip it right down and find the brass lug that had come off jamming the barrel. All fixed now! Thanks again :-)
What type/size screwdriver did you use to unscrew the brass cylinder on the side of the plastic zoom ring prior to removing the plastic zoom ring itself? I tried using Phillips Size 000 but screw will not come off. I might have already stripped the head of the Phillips screw! Think putting a dab of WD40 will help unscrew it?
Without knowing it, I would guess you should open it from the bajonet, some lenses you should open from the front,. Sorry, but I have very little knowledge with the very new Canon lenses. I found this here on TH-cam that maybe can help you: th-cam.com/video/CL3EBqQ2CnY/w-d-xo.html
What was problem here, AF or IS? I have a broken IS on 18-200 and I dont know how to get to it and what to look for... It is making loud noise and shakes when focusing...(trying to stabilize the pic)
Hi Haris There could be some loose screws inside, around the USM motor. This lens was dropped on concrete, so it didn't survive, so i just made this movie to show others how it looks inside.
Great video... thank you so much... I think my lense also sustained some mechanical shok that is why I hear noise from stabilizer motor, but I was hoping there is a video showing exactly how to reach the motor without messing it up. Thanks again, your video is one of the rarest but sure one of the best. Cheers

Mike, thanks! Now where can I get replacement screws, preferably stainless steel construction, not brass like the original.
Well, you could also just buy a damage / defect lens and get the screws that way, I don't know where to find spare part.
I have a new Canon 18 135 MM lens I can't be opened because it's new type so and different so can you help to open this I can 135 MM lens
