O love this way to see the court cards because it naturally goes beyond the limits of gender depiction. Learning, practicing experience and mastery is such a full journey in its own right, it's an amazing way to look at it, thank you so so much for this insight Grace!
Thank you so very much Mary Grace! You ALWAYS make SO MUCH sense. Love seeing your channel notifications come up! As always, beautifully explained, real life stuff. ❤ I was listening to you and thought this is so good bc most of my readings are about the mundane, the day to day, not much spiritual stuff... but never say never. And yep. Then you said it! Mundane. 😆 ❤
Thank you so much for this! I started reading tarot in 2021 and I’ve always struggled with the court cards! This is the best explanation of their meanings I’ve ever seen. It makes so much sense and gives a great base for reading with them 😊
I enjoyed listening to you share your knowledge about the courts. I see the courts very similar to to the way you explained. Pages as students, Knights as doers, Queens internalize and Kings externalize. Your explanations are more clear then anything I could come up with. Do you think of the courts as elements in and of themselves? For example pages as air (in their heads), Knights as fire (moving), Queens as water (intuitive), Kings as earth (both feet planted). Then adding the element of their suits to this energy. I'm not sure if this makes sense or makes the courts more complicated then they need to be. :) I so appreciate the nuanced common sense and wisdom you share, thank you!
Just an observation on this deck seeing it side by side, the knight and the king both face the queen. Because like you said you have to have mastered all 3 cards / steps that come before. And because I think a master of a skill will look back and reflect on their experience after they’ve done it. The knight doesn’t have time to think about it he’s going to battle. The king is coming home. He’s been to war and made it out. And so the queen ties the two together. You have the information as a knight make a decision and act on it. Once you’ve made that decision there’s no thinking just doing until it’s done. The king comes back to his inner voice and evaluates did it work what would I do differently how do I feel. The queen is the only one who appears stationary in her drawing. Hot take but this deck the way it’s illustrated and your experienced explanation really depict the queen as the ruler and master over the others. The inner assessment and voice, intuition.
Enjoyed this so much! Your explanations are so easily digestible and entertaining too. All the pages have that underlying earthy receptivity and the queens carry the reflective water element...both being passive, love how that aligns with what you shared. I prefer combining kings with fire and knights with air. Ive heard that reversed but prefer a warmth with mastery vs. coldness. What do you think? Or maybe they can be swapped based on the situation, good to have options! Btw, I worked in the med field for 13 years and definitely have a tendancy towards masochism..and people pleasing😅 I've paid my dues and sounds like you have too. 😸💕
I always think of fire as hot headed. A king as a master of his subject/skill I would hope doesn’t have that hot headedness rash/ quick/ bold/ riskier /strong willed/subborn decision making a knight does. He’s cooled off, level headed and is able to “breeze through” the situation. Which makes him a better leader and a “warmer” (more compassionate level headed) person if you will. The king can discern information and let irrelevant details blow by/ fall down like leaves. Whereas the knight is surrounded. The heat is on. What information or tools will he use? He’s got to choose quickly. It’s not that the King isn’t warm with mastery, it’s that the king no longer has to feel that heat/pressure. Idk that’s how I tend to view cards. But I tend to look at the “reversal” indication and the right side up together as a whole. So a hot headed king would be firey and lead to his downfall. Maybe for you the air means if the King is too cold/ neutral in his approach, he could get blown away/ topple/ fall down. Master becomes the apprentice. “Oh how the mighty have fallen” sort of energy. (Which I might cry about if my tarot talked to me like that lol what a smart ass!) And the knight needs swift decision making and action to push/carry him along on his journey to “boldly go” he doesn’t have time for that warmness/ compassion because stopping to consider feelings slows him down. Could lead him to make some choices he later regrets or would do differently. But again I look at both positive and negative qualities of each. Maybe give that a try?
@@kimberlykessinger5353 Thanks Kimberly! I guess the descending elemental order of the tree of life is what swayed my decision most…kings being highest alongside fire. It really seems to work either way, although, since you brought up hot-headed knights vs hot-headed kings… I would ask if you prefer air-headed kings vs air-headed knights! 😹
brilliant summary! I mostly read the courts the same, but I always had a bit of difficulty to differentiate between Queen and King, and would pull on that "feminine energy/ masculine energy "thing which never really felt majorly useful, so I dropped that and used QUeens as "healing energy" and Kings as "ruling energy" , which often made no sense either. I ended up just reading Kings as masters and Queens as teachers, but I find your approach much more intriguing, and will certainly try that! For the pages I'd also add that they are not only reading but also using their senses to learn, observe, non-consequential imitation etc. I see them as "being in a safe place"(indoor playground), while the Knights are exposed, have responsibilities, and they create real consequences by their actions.
