This game really takes me back in a long time. It’s a combination of both wrestling and fighting games, but mostly it’s more street wrestling rather than a fighting game. How could you not play a game where you play as Snoop Dogg or any of the other celebrities to choose from.

A game like this would work but the current state of the music industry should definitely impede its execution. Everyone (labels especially) are too obsessed with rights of images and likenesses. It’s even hard to just feature their music by itself. Def Jam or whoever finances the game would probably have to fork over a fortune to clear rights, on top of game production expenses.

I'm still playing DJFFNY, but playing in hard mode because when I was a kid, I was awful for videogames. Now I can beat Fat Joe and Bonecrusher together (one of them fucks my teammate up easily, so I'm always the last man standing most of the time in double team).
There won't be any game like this...
    I hope I am wrong.
Sorry for my english, not my first language.

AWESOME video! Being a huge fighting game fan and growing up playing this along with many other fighters I Can't believe I never saw this video up until this point and it's about damn time this game gets the recognition it deserves lol. This game is easily in my top 10 and STILL holds up and even outshines some fighting games today and also wanna take this opportunity to say that if you have played or still play Def Jam and enjoy it, very highly recommend Urban Reign, basically Def Jam but made by the same developers who made the famous "tekken" series and is just as much of a hidden/underrated gem as Def Jam FFNY.
*also tiny tidbit in the video I wanted to correct, when you mentioned the only ways of getting ko"d in "DANGER" being haymaker, blazin move, weapon, and environment, while those are all true you missed heavy grapple attacks from Wrestlers, double team/crowd moves, kickboxing grapple combos could KO if opponent didn't escape in time, and flying attacks from Martial Artists running off of something would KO as well.

Man it may have been short but another banger video. I wish I grew up with this games but picked up the series while in high school like 7 years ago. Starting with Vendetta, I love WWE and their games and when I got V I was blown away. Seeing rappers I grew up listening to was just amazing with DMX being my fav in the first one but couldn't make it for FFNY. When I got FFNY it was over, just blew me away even more. The roster was so much better and the combat is too crazy with me and friend of mine who also has it are finding new things since we been back on it within the past few months. I still play it on my og xbox and trying to play with every style combo so I know my way around this damn near perfect game. For icon...we dont talk about it but everything about it other than the fighting it's a pretty cool game but that's it lol. If anyone is out there trying to play FFNY physically get it on xbox or ps2, gcn just ain't it

5:39 The Knoccouts can also be done by strong grapples if your fighter has wrestling as their first fighting style, wrestling in general or wrestling twice maybe. Not sure if it has to be level 3

I'm definitely like you. In terms of not being a big fan of fighting games. I've played your typical classics, plus games like both Injustice games, and some of the newer Mortal Kombat games. But I feel this game, X-Men Next Dimension and Mortal Kombat Deception are my all time favourite fighting games. I really wish someone would bring out a new X-Men fighting game. I don't understand why no one has made one so far

Never played Def Jam but I loved No Mercy on N64, had no idea AKI was behind this game. I was really into 2000's rap/hip hop back in my high school days. I was that dumbo that would be blasting my music nearly blowing out my car's speakers lol. It's too bad Icon didn't turn out so great though. Coulda had my dude Rich Boy with Throw Some D's 😂

16 or so years ago this game kept me hooked, at that time this game (in my area) was laughed at but for some reason i saw the potential this game has and bought it.
i bet if i start playing this again on my ps2, i will be hooked for days on end.
The mechanics together with fighting style mixing when playing with your own made character, is just out of this world awsome.
