ah - that sound takes me back ! I had a 1950 VB600 with sidecar - I think cast iron head - looks like the 1956 had an aluminium head - nice exhaust note - less mechanical noise than some overhead valve models - ah yes and the slow idle too - beautiful !
It is not known but many of these were in the second werld war so that lots of our tommy’s went hither and thither with a lot of all that and give it all a right going over. Thus the German troops found a lot of unnessary agrivation and as we all know eventually lost - that and the hurricane which eventually gave wayto the other eg the moss queeto. Crikey
