Excellent analysis. I discovered Prof. Mearsheimer's books and lessons in 2014 and for these ten years I can see that most of his analytical predictions are proven to be factually correct. This is what I consider to be a true political science - when the described models can be used for a long-term predictability of big political events and developments.

What’s truly amazing about how foolishly we’re behaving overall as a species is the fact that while we’re in the process of a “race to the bottom” which is generally referred to as “the tragedy of the commons” or “moloch” we’re exacerbating and hastening that process by not following John Mearsheimer’s good advice on everything he’s weighed in on. It’s worth considering the words of the late Isaac Asimov when he said we have the ability to write our our history. I think he is correct in most of his analysis. What the US should do is to convince Ukraine to reach an mutual agreement with Russia, giving out the occupied territory to Russia before they lose more of their land (Putin already suggested the terms a couple of weeks ago). In the meantime, the US needs to put a wedge between Russia and China, making sure that China is on our side. This can be accomplished by increasing economical ties with China, giving them financial incentives, such as making them America's primary economic partner, and having them accept some sort of a passivation policy, concerning Taiwan. The situation with Israel can be resolved by forcing Natanyahu to resign or stop the war against innocent civilian population. His military commanders are against him already. This policy will also pull the neighboring Arab countries in the middle east and Turkey to the US side. The cooling effect between America and Turkey has been going on for some time, and Turkey needs to be on the Nato side as opposed to the Russian side. Losing Turkey from Nato has innumerable effects in the middle east, most important of which is leaving Mediterranean to Russia. That cannot and should not happen. The US needs both of these powerful allies, Israel and Turkey. That can be achieved by possibly forming an independent Palestinian state, and getting rid of people like Natenyahu who wants to eradicate all Palestinians, and add the entire Gaza strip to Israel. Wars, escalation ladders, and threats are no good for superpowers, and for innocent civilians that get caught in between.

However important to note that immigration and economy gpes together because that is how the economic elite keeps justifying the growing inequality that is reallt brought about their continous growing amount of assests which are primarily bought from a diminishing middle class. It has been proven again and again that people want what politicians vocalize. A bit of depth on this issue would be well suited i think otherwise this analsys fall flat. It is not economy and immigration causing the shift it is a massive transfer in wealth from wage earners to the absolute wealthy elite. This is not just a domestic issue, it is worldwide and definitely important subject in the western world.

One additional aspect. Italy as well as France do have a very high budget deficit. Their national debt is much higher, than allowed by the EU rules. Independet of the party, which gets the prime minister, if they do not support the war in Ukraine, they get big problems because the EU could easily initiate a budget consolidation procedure for this country, which would create big problems for the respective ruling party.

It's unfortunate and even irresponsible of Ukraine in not doing what the Baltic countries did at the end of the Soviet Union breakdown into The Federation of States. The Baltics immediately requested alliance with NATO. If Ukraine had done that, none of this would have happened. I can't say if NATO was irresponsible in not accepting Ukraine into the Alliance; but it is very possible it might have been. Now, because of indifference, NATO is going to pay the price. It is part of NATO principle not to start territorial wars to drag the whole alliance into a war. So if Russia wanted to freeze their gains, letting Ukraine to join NATO would be the best way to do that. This territory could be about the territory they control right now.
