I wonder if they replaced the music practice room. Seem to remember it by the staircase up to the library. Used to play rock-'n'-roll piano watching the world go by...🤔 Best years of my life spent at Wadham! New building looks good though.
The Warden is keen to avoid pastiche, as though postwar Oxford buildings have ever risked that accusation! The tendency to prefer boldness to conservatism has led to lamentable damage to Oxford's architectural heritage. Although there are some modern buildings in Oxford that can be admired in themselves - e.g. the Thomas White Building in St John's - in no way could they be said to improve their environments. It's all well and good that the building looks modern now; every one of the many Oxford eyesores was likely unveiled with similar excitement and acclaim. But what about decades hence, when materials have aged and fashions changed? Wadham's quad has stood the test of time. I wonder will this new building.
It looks beautiful. A huge improvement on what was there previously.
lovely buildings.. thank you
