The writers at NRS don’t understand the concepts of depth or subtlety. Havik was never about yelling in peoples faces about chaos and anarchy and he never acted like those words were synonymous with generic evil shit like killing people and destroying things just for the sake of it. If they wanted this Havik to be like that then they should’ve actually done something like with how this Haviks view on chaos has been warped because of the power he obtained by becoming a Titan, but sadly the most they do is have Noob call him a hypocrite for only wanting his version of chaos and not when other people do it which is only one single line of dialogue that Havik brushes over

He wanted to merge all timelines so they could all be forced to fight and he needed Liu Kang's Gerus because apparently he was the ONLY one that had lived in all the previous timelines. People are forgetting to mention that Bi Han has a hand attached to his waist. They gave us no explanation as to who's hand that is or why it is there. It must be significant because you can use it in his gameplay and it buffs moves.

Mortal Kombat thinks its a superhero movie and they look so try hard. I can digest their various realms storyline in the past, but not this multiverse nonsense
Cant wait for Onaga to come clean up this multiverse mess, fuse all the realms together and steal the souls of all variants just leaving the strongest variant of each fighter so guys like Titan Havik can stick around instead of Liu Kangs Havik. And i want Onaga to win in the end of the story, continue a good story like they did with Shao Khan. Glad I didn't spend money on this and decided to watch the cutscenes on TH-cam. Great video btw, however I do disagree with some of your points, not about Khaos Reigns though obviously all of that sucked, but I do think time travel, and multiverses can work in a story like Mortal Kombat, I honestly thought 11 did time travel fine aside from Sindel being evil again after she was restored to the living which was very out of character for her. I always say, it's not concept, but execution, and in this new MK game the execution is terrible, but I don't think time travel and multiverses are the problem, it's just the way they used lately in recent media, any good writer can still use those concepts to tell compelling stories. keyword "Good" writer. The thing that gets me most is how the premise and resolution are no different from Invasions. I thought Havik was working towards a goal greater than any one universe. He wanted chaos that would dwarf the Armageddon rehash, but in practice...it's just a gladiator pit. Just imagine a campaign where Havik pit the timelines against one another in a way that actually resembled his end goal of endless conflict, possibly by merging timelines not one-by-one, but all at once. It could even resolve the multiverse by having the result be the survival of only a few timelines. And preferably the final fight would be Geras vs Havik, since Geras is the current keeper of time for the Liuline, and both have regenerative capabilities and could be interesting foils for one another.
I really think NRS is being shafted by WB. At this point it’s clear WB rushed this game out and NRS was most likely working on Injustice 3 before they were told to pivot to MK. I think NRS got dealt a bad hand here. I gotta say tho, the head writer for these past few MK games has not been putting out great work.

MK9 was suppose to be a reset, with the time travelling continuum that they introduced, then they went with the silly multiverse plot in MK11 which just makes Mortal Kombat looks like MCU try hard wannabe
U know what would be cool storyline not for this game but a game where we have Ermac and skarlet as a deadly alliance, they are similar and having a soul and blood mage/powerful characters(which realistically they would be hella powerful with blood and souls being in everyone) working together would be a huge threat, hell if we go with mk9 skarlet origins maybe they could merge and become a god fr, idk just an idea but they are 2 characters who get sidelined
Here's how to fix this story: Havik shows up, challenges Liu Kang to a multiversal Mortal Kombat Tournament. The rules being that Havik can choose anyone from the timelines he has conquered, while Liu is restricted to just his own. Story ends with Havik being banished, but accidentally shoved into a realm between realms, where Onaga is also being held, setting up a second story expansion dubbed "Dragon's Fury", which has the scale (get it, because dragons and stuff?... fuck you, I'm funny) and scope of a full game's story mode.

By doing it the way I described, it makes a new Mortal Kombat tournament, with new rules, and higher stakes, which is something MK used to be good at. This way it goes, "Shang Tsung wanted to conquer Earthrelm" to "he was working for Shao Khan", to "Shao Khan doesn't play by the rules, because he is a bad guy, and they do not do that" to "here comes lipless despot to go 'lets play by these rules because I am an agent of chaos, and you don't expect that, which wraps right around to being chaotic' again". And the ending would raise the stakes even more, due to Onaga being a much greater threat than Havik.

What’s weird is for Tanya’s chapter, you fight right by its chamber for the fight with Khaos Kitana and Mileena, but don’t get to fight in front of him, it would’ve looked so good to have Orin in the background as you fight.
This is the worst story I've ever seen im my life. It was genuinely hard to finish, and I rolled my eyes the entire time. This was not written by intelligent people. At least all the new characters are fun, and the new animalitys and brutalities are cool.

Ketchup and mustard being girls is not the reason why though, the Multiverse storyline is just overdone at this point and this story only has like an hour and 30 minutes worth of cutscenes and it cost 50 bucks. Add to that, Havik will go down as one of the worst bosses of all time.
