When cruising Alaska, the port time is really limited, so we knew we wanted to make the most out of each port, and fit in everything that was important for us to see while in Sitka, Alaska.
You are definitely going to see really expensive tours in Sitka, but the one we found was the perfect combo for us of having small tour groups, getting to see all the attractions we were interested in, and having time to explore on our own as well.
We chose Baranof Tours and the Simply Amazing Sitka Tour: Fortress of the Bear, Alaska Raptor, & Totems.
Our day started off by taking the free shuttle into town and then arriving at Harrigan Centennial Hall where we were met by our tour guide who helped us into a small van that held about 10-14 people.
He took us on a scenic drive before arriving at our first destination Fortress of the Bear. Fortress of the Bear is a rescue facility for both brown and black bears.
Then we headed to the Alaskan Raptor Center to see bald eagles and owls, and other birds that are either being rehabbed or being kept safe.
Last up, we headed to Sitka National Historical Park where we learned about the Tlingit and Haida Totem poles and some Indigenous history.
Once our tour was over, we walked through town where we experienced some local cuisine. We sampled reindeer hotdogs, crab mac and cheese, black cod tips, and the infamous Alaskan Crab Leg.

Ohh the Crab Shack looked good if I could only eat it. And Bald Eagles are such amazing creatures. Their facial expressions are human like to me. Thanks for showing all of your trip👍🤙😋

This is the tour. It's really a great way to see the bears and eagles up close. Definitely grab some mosquito spray or mosquito stickers bc if you walk around any of these areas, there are lots of mosquitoes. The bears are awesome up close. I hope the video gets you excited for your trip!

Why is crab so expensive if it's from there? Where can I get it cheaper?

We were wondering the same thing. We found it in icy strait for $38/leg but that was the cheapest we saw. It's so expensive there

Because we need to pay the fishermen for their hard work...If you buy straight from one of the fishermen in the harbor it'll be cheaper.
