    I'm glad you made this, people always say 'its not about the gear' but sometimes in a professional situation it is.. and for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Great video Chris!

      Chris Brockhurst It's not about the gear, but you need to have what gets the job done. The painter without the brush is a painter in name alone.

    Two cameras is good for when you're on a trip with friends, and you can give/lend one camera to a friend, so they can photograph from their perspective.

    I'm from Madeira, and it's so weird to see you going on and about my hometown! I'm glad you love it Chris, it really is an amazing pearl in the middle of the ocean. Just please, PLEASE stop vlogging while you are walking on a levada. Those paths are rough and often slippery, it can be so dangerous if you're not paying attention! And if you're ever back in Madeira and want some tips from a local, let me know! ;)

    I think it's great to get two different sensor size as well, I recently bought an a7ii to compliment my a6300 that means that with only a 24, 50, and 85 I actually have 24, 35, 50, 75, 85 and 127mm thanks to the crop factor !

    As a wedding photographer, I always had two cameras, because I definitely wanted two lens options - and you cannot afford the time to swap lenses during a wedding ceremony, where you have zero control over the action.

    I have a Nikon Coolpix. It's $250 Canadian. It has a small zoom. Point and shoot.
    But it takes good pictures and video. It's water proof to 10meters and shock proof to 1.5 meters and so excellent for my risky shots now.
    Plus I can have it in my pocket and take it out for a quick closeup while the main camera is videoing the wider scene and sitting on the tripod.

  • @Narsuitus
    @Narsuitus 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I normally carried one, two, or three cameras. I preferred to use identical or very similar cameras. For example, in my film days, I had three similar medium format film cameras; three similar 35mm SLR film cameras, and three similar 35mm film rangefinder cameras. In the digital age, I have three identical digital SLR cameras and three identical digital mirrorless cameras.
    For vacations, I carry one camera and a cell phone as backup.
    For photojournalism, documentary, and street, I usually carried two. One to use and one as a backup.
    For weddings, I usually carried three. Two to use and one as backup.
    For stage performances and some sporting events where I had no place to store my equipment and no time to change lenses, I carried three. Telephoto mounted on camera hanging on right shoulder; wide-angle mounted on camera hanging around my neck, normal mounted on camera hanging on my left shoulder.

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      _joka try to get some part time jobs here and there and buy an a6300 with a sigma 30mm 1.4, used you can probably get the two for 700$ and it's a really really good combo, I actually got a few photo gigs that paid for it in a couple months starting out.

    • @_joka9
      @_joka9 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      César Tresca that was actually my plan, i was looking for an a6500 and almost had it but my car broke down, and without car i cant drive to the university lol. and since i have a big collection on analog cameras and lenses, i wanna go fullframe, so i can at least use those lenses for the photography part 👍 but rn i have to start saving all over again 😂

    Awesome!! This video just gave me so much excuses to say to people when they ask me why i will be buying another camera!! As of now i am using an a6500 and a samsung s8 for my channel, but i really don't like the quality of videos coming from my s8, because of this i just swap the lenses on my a6500 a lot, and shoot the same scene with two camera angles twice. I will probably look for another a6500 or maybe an a6300 for frugality purposes:)

    Hi Chris, while I've no desire to be a 'pro' I had my XT2 give up on me a couple of weeks ago, but luckily the XT10 I bought for my wife came good as a back-up and I could continue shooting, collected good shots of four rare butterflies!, three of which I got with the XT10. I've got the XT2 back now, Fujifilm UK fixed it within four working days!. Now I think I should splash out on another body, the Fujifilm XT20, just because the focusing system is so much faster a reliable!. That way I'll be ready next time!. In normal circumstances I don't want to carry two bodies, what I've got plus all those heavy Fujinon lenses is quite enough for me. Cheers, Richard.

    You mentioned one reason to have two cameras is so that you can have two lenses read to go. An addition to that is that if you have two lenses but only one camera, you run the risk of letting dust into the system when changing lenses. Or, to put it another way, you need two cameras so that you can run two lenses and keep your cameras sealed from dust.

  • @luukvanrielify

    Hey Chris you should try to limit your black levels in the color grading process so they dont hit the 0 point on the graphs. This gets rid of the ugly 8bit blackness that occurs in your shadows and makes it feel really digital. If you try to keep 90% of the shadows out of the peak black level your shots will look a lot better. Apart from that I dig the color grade except I would go a little bit easier with the vignetting. If you use lumetri I would advise a value of -0.5 to -1. That way the effect is still effective but a lot more subtle. This also helps you with the peaking black level.

    I totally agree. I have been fortunate to be able to afford to use two camera bodies since the eighties when I had a Canon EOS 650 and Canon EOS 600. Recently, I swapped my Nikon D500 and Olympus EM1 mark II for a single Sony A7III. I decided to try using just one camera body; but it didn't work out. I just didn't enjoy swapping between my zoom and macro lenses, always fearful I would drop one of them. I also discovered that the A7III seemed prone to gathering dust, which appeared on my images - something that didn't happen on my EM1.2. I have now returned to using two bodies, having purchased an A7II. I am not a videographer, but having a zoom one one body and a macro on the other for stills suits me perfectly.

    Awesome vlog Chris! We always pick up vlogging tips just by watching you do what you do. Can’t wait for the next one! 😄🙌🏼

      Chris Hau Using two cams to shoot multiple angles, saving you and your clients money 😉👍🏼 But there’s so much to learn from your vlogging style in general. Also, the espetada bit was probably our fave! 🤣

    There are two reasons why no need for second camera :)
    1.On travel if the camera fails, I'll finally have a real holiday.
    2.For the second camera I need a second sherpa.
