  • Creator Simon Hall takes you through MeG's unique Pre Battle System that represents the 5 days before the battle, all the way from the first roll to having the troops deployed and the game ready to play. A Pacto game using the ready made armies for Late Romans and Sassanids that can be built from the PSC box sets. Watch out for the following video where he plays the game solo and walks through various moves, options and decisions as a commander.

Many thanks for the upload and for the explanations/rationale behind the choices made
I will watch it again with the rules to hand and I’m sure it will aid my learning of them
More so than watching it while in the bath!!

Very helpful video. Not quite at this stage of learning yet, but it certainly seems like an interesting part of the game.

The first Green dice from the Romans was a Skull, hence the Strategic Intercept (Simon, you just said 'green' I think

Yes the Skull allows you to choose invade with. strategic Intercept which gives the advantage that you not the defender get to place the army marker and still be active first. Well worth it if your army is not overly dependent on one type of terrain.

I see that you deployed heavy foot near the elephants for the sassinids, but are they not more than 6 BWS from the center?

And it seems the Roman line is waaaay beyond 6BWs from center.

Very cool. I am a big fan of this kind of element in a wargame. Brings in some representation for the important 'bringing the enemy to battle' phase of warfare.
Especially like that the entire MeG system seems to support ahistorical engagements rather than just refighting real battles (I already know the outcome of those!) but doesn't sacrifice the wider factors that can go into determining the outcome.
I might steal some ideas from the Lardies scouting phase so deployment is a bit less of two linear deployment zones.

Yes we play lots of scenarios. If you create some put them on the forum and we can add to ours at some point for people to play. Si
