    FUN FACT: Dan Aykroyd originally wrote the script with John Belushi in mind to portray Peter Venkmann, but he died before production started and Aykroyd hired Harold Ramis to rewrite the script with him. The role of Venkmann went to Bill Murray and the green ghost, Slimer, was designed to be the ghost of John Belushi.

    Have any of you guys noticed that in horror movies or sci-fi movie, that there's always a character that gives a quote that sums up the realization of the whole thing and represents the turning point of the film?
    There's plenty I could name off the top of my head, but I think the one for this one was when Ray and Winston were in the car at night talking about the end of the world, and Winston says, "Ray, has it ever occurred to you that the reason we've been so busy is that the dead HAVE been rising from the grave?"
    Did you feel that, I sure did, the millions of minds shattering at the fact that this is a really good quote and now it's really gonna get good.

    • @Cenindo
      @Cenindo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That scene in the car at night is nicely atmospheric. Nothing particularly funny is said -- it is as if the comedy takes a break from itself for a minute -- but that is really quite OK. It sets up what is to come.

    • @cassiemichael7414
      @cassiemichael7414 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Cenindo Yeah, I love these scenes, and it's not the only one where two people are driving a car at night and some truth bombs are set off. There's a kick-a$$ movie from 1994 called In The Mouth of Madness. It's a Wes Craven movie that is REALLY similar to stuff from H.P. Lovecraft. Anyway, the scene is where the female lead is trying to convince the male lead that quote "Reality is just what we tell each other. If reality and insanity switched places, you'd find yourself in a padded cell, wondering what happened to the world.." Now, THAT'S some thought-provoking conversation, right there.

    Fun Fact: They really Tore up the street in NY for the making of that scene with the street sinkhole. It cost $250,000 and half of the scene was shot at Central Park west in NYC and the other half was shot in the back lot in LA. They later pieced both scenes together for what we see in the film.
    In addition, although the movie had about 550 extras, a lot of the cops and crowd were actually real people there to see the shot happen. 😊

      Hell, it would look better today if the studio would actually remaster it. The versions available for streaming are based on old prints, and optical effects will degrade as the prints are copied rather than struck from the original negative. One thing I always like about your channel is how you mix it up, playing a real variety of actors and themes That being said, it just occurred to me the other day that it's been a while since you've reacted to a great Tom Hanks movie...and I know we all love Tom Hanks; so, I thought I might suggest one that is universally accepted as a great film, but which does not get a lot of play Have you considered the movie "Philadelphia"?? I won't post any spoilers, but I will tell you it is a court drama, it stars Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington and Antonio Banderas, and bring plenty of tissues! Thank you for considering it!

    This is a good one, the second is just as good, in my opinion.

    Ladies
    I remember when this movie came out in 1984. I just turned 20, going to school in Tampa. I can't believe that was 38 years ago.

      This is true. It was written (in part), by Dan Akroyd, and Harold Ramis.
      It, also, features the voices of Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Bill Atherton.

    The original, and to a lesser extent the underrated 1989 sequel, are childhood favorites of mine. AFTERLIFE is also quite good, though a little heavy on the nostalgia baiting. The 2016 reboot has its moments, but it fails as a comedy and as a sci-fi horror film.
