Great video as usual…when it comes to a Marshall style pedal, it starts and ends w/LPD in my opinion. Everything sounds great, but his are always a touch more to my ears. Love you guys and hope everyone is doing well.
I own the Eighty 7 and have played it nearly every day for about a year now, and I own about 30 high end/rare distortion pedals, it's insanely malleable and I love the articulation I am easily able to coax out of it. To my ears, the Eighty 7 absolutely kills the others, it can do what they can't, and I feel you can dial it in to do whatever the others do too, which admittedly I don't care for as much as I do what the Eighty 7 does. Also, those galloping heavy riffs would've sounded wayyyy better on the red setting, which is the "Jose Mod" gain option as opposed to the tamer green option you guys had selected.
hey, can you give me some advice maybe? I'm trying to get the Smashing Pumpkins Gish distortion tone, let's take the heavier rhythm tones in Snail, for example (btw, I already have the Siamese Dream tones down with the Big Muff, etc...). In Gish, it's well documented that they used an ADA MP-1 preamp into a JCM800, and I believe the JCM was actually left clean' (so the ADA did the distortion) From what you can hear, would the Eighty 7 into a fairly clean tube amp come close? ( I have a mesa studio 22+). Also while I'm at it, if you listen to the big rhythm distortion sounds in pumpkins 'Stand Inside Your Love', you think the Eighty 7 could also nail some of those tones? They sound similar..... thx for any thoughts!!!
Really enjoyed this video and was great to see the different tones and from low, mid and high gain across the different pick up types really good review. For me personally my order of preference with be from left to right with with the 87 in 1st place, the Power 50 in 2nd and the MS-1 in last as this seemed more of a fuzz pedal to me. Also the other thing that you didn't do with the 87 which is a game changer is flick the switch to the high gain where there is a new world of cool sound. cheers guys enjoyed it
I loved the sound of the Mozztronics but the 87 had just that little bit of edge in clarity that gives it the win. I agree with Gabor that the Power 50 is a Tom Morello style pedal; good for what it does but that's it. I hope you both are doing well. 🐱
one thing to keep in mind is that tom morello has been playing into a peavey cab with k85/k100's his entire career. those don't react like most speakers. it gets HIS sound, and his sound is SUPER specific. like Gabor said, it sounds like tom morello. the eighty-7 seems the most useful overall
Reminds me of the Goldilocks thing three choices MS1 and Power 50 do there own thing but the LPD 87 is just right.. which leaves the question Which of you guy’s would make the better Goldilocks?😮
Probably the LPD sounds closest. I own the Mercshall but it sounds nothing like a 800 maybe a JTM 45 to me. MiAudio super crunchbox nails it better than all these. But in saying that all these will sound completely different through a different amp.
LPD FTW… The high desert King of distortion …
Someday I’ll be able to forward one Lawrence’s awesome pedals 🤘🏽
Awsome guys! I love my LPD and Tom Morello is one of my favorite players. Mozztronics is a great brand too that you guys first opened my eyes too.👍👍👍

I’m with you there Aaron…Lawrence makes some AMAZING pedals!!
I just ordered the Mozztronics but I really love the look of the Power50

Yeah the ‘red’ side would have been better but we just wanted to use the green JCM800 side for this video…Lawrence makes some killer pedals!!

I'd gladly own any of the three, but for me, the Power 50 wins out. The effects loop, and the possibilities that opens up, puts it over the top.

Thanks Sassy Cat…Alex is having his turn with Covid at the moment…but he’s doing pretty good!!
@@TSFAHTPS Get well soon, Alex! Cheers!

didn't expect to hear an incubus riff. that was rad.
Hehe…yeah I snuck that one in there!! Thank you!!

Definitely Gabor! Next question…. 😏
LPD for me - open and articulate

Absolutely!
I liked the JHS pedal the most.
