    I have the same Eagle Claw box, but I generally don't take it with me. I mostly just use it for storage, in my garage. I have rod holders attached to my bucket, which easily allows me to haul around 5 or 6 combos, in my bucket. Rarely do I need more than 5 or 6 rods, for all day fishin...

    I'm digging the inverse 'Waterland' branding. Shirt of Jeff matches the Hat of Paul, Hat of Paul matches Shirt of Jeff...
    Team bucket all the way, then again I only have two very cheap rods for the ice. I've been thinking on picking up the 13 fishing tickle stick and then may consider a rod locker, but at the moment I don't need one.

    Otsego Lake has safe ice 6”+ in Gaylord MI
    Anywhere in Upper peninsula should have at least 8-10” by now
    Not any safe ice in NW Lower peninsula yet

    I picked up my first ice fishing combo. Its a Frabill 30" Quick Tip with their Vypr reel. I got it for $50 at Scheels. I'm still not sure how eager I am to get on the ice but thought I'd give it a try.

    Piscifun icz frost carbon is the best I had used. I have blackbetty, decent and swapped them out with pscifu. The magnetic control actually works compared to black Betty to control so that you don't run into that overspooling. The drag is strong enough for pike. I have it with my pan fish to walleye setup.

    Started with a xustomized bucket for my rods but i lile the rod locker i have now much better. Better protection from snaggin and tangling while transporting and also great for storing in the warmer months. Wish it was a bit cheaper for what it is but still worth the 150 or so for the one i have (eagle claw rod locker hard case)

    One set up if you want a solid dead stick combo is the Daiwa TD Ice 30” DS. Retails between 80-90 bucks US for the combo. Super soft tip for bite detection with a solid backbone from panfish and handles even bigger walleye extremely well.
    Feel bad you guys are waiting so long for ice! Hope it freezes quick down there.

    I'm looking for the 500 size reel but how much drag power on the reel for ice fishing. That and the power of thr rod because is a straight up pull. People don't talk much about that. Small reel but how much pull. Because the rods from Altra light to heavy or Xtra heavy for ice fishing the big one. Me the BIG SMASH medium heavy

    Looking at lockers.. but don't wanna spring the money. My question. Using the bucket. What happens if u fill the bucket with ur fish? Do you put ur rods in with the fish? How do you clean the rods and reels afterwards?

    • @paulglass7268

    I'm planning to start small on the ice. There is a small lagoon around me that has Bluegill, warmouth, crappie, largemouth bass, channel catfish, & crap. The Lagoon max depth though is only around 8-10 feet. I keep hearing everyone talk about 10 feet being shallow, do think this lagoon maybe too shallow to ice fish?

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can catch fish through ice in 3 ft of water. 10ft isn't too shallow. It's nice to have an inline reel for that though.
