What's wrong with USS Excelsior NCC-2000 (formerly NX-2000)? I loved the aesthetics from the late 23rd century. But I ain't gonna lie, the Excelsior II Class is a logical progression from the original Excelsior Class ships, such as USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B. It was really too bad about the Excelsior II Class USS Excelsior NCC-42037. She was destroyed in an episode of ST: Picard.
@@CoffeePot31 I just didn’t like the look of the OG one. The ‘neck’ area appeared weird and the right angled pylons were my cup of tea either. Didn’t hate it, but an ugly duckling compared to the refit Constitution class (like Enterprise A). This new version of the Excelsior tho fixed almost all of that!
all good horses deserve a second chance and with the ability of the ExII to go slipstream finally they can shake off the failure status, I feel the engineers also got inspiration from the Soverainge designe and give us a very impressive ship.
One cannot help but be a little biased in favor of the original Excelsior class but they did a great job with the Excelsior ll design keeping a lot of the elements from the original. It is a true successor.
I have to say that I like how the Starfleet is resurrecting its vintage designs and spiffing them up for the new century. Like Quark once said "The more things change, the more they remain the same." 🖖😎👍
Looks like what the original should have looked like in the first place. But, being an early 25th century design, it's a new beginning for a different generation.
one of my favorite ships from picard the excelsior 2 class would have been a better option for enterprise g really hope fanhome is making a model of it wich we saw more of it
This model looks like it actually has the same number of photon Torpedoes as the original Excelsior having four forward torpedo launchers and having two aft
The Exelsior II class is an intresting step with new technologie. It also have to be can use a complet new design, but for the respect to the victurios orginal so it will be used a desgin mix with elements from the sovering and the orginal exelsior class. It is one of the shpis from PIC that makes senze.
She's a really nice-looking ship and almost represents a midway point in design between the original Excelsior and the Sovereign class in terms of shape. Although not perhaps in function.
Pretty good design, however I wish they'd retained the thickness of the saucer rim. It being that thin feels a bit off. Other wise, she's a work of art.
Well that would just be silly, as they are canon (fact) It would be like you denying that water is wet, the moon landing ever happened, or the world isnt a big ball in the cosmos! 🙄🤣🤣🤣
Since there has been 3 Excelsiors before the Excelsior II, all with different Reg Numbers, Seems Starfleet retired the 2000 Reg a LONG time ago. And so Im fine with a new reg Number... New Class, New Number, Seems fitting.
I only have one complaint. I think the Excelsior II U.S.S. Excelsior should have had the registry number NCC-2000-A. I know that's probably considered nit picking, but like I said I only had one complaint and that was it. LOL
The Excelsior's low registration number implies the ship is a refit of a previous ship (much like the Titan A is supposed to be a refit of the Titan). It would be interesting to consider how that ship came to be. Was she an Excelsior or something else? What was she doing that prevented her destruction? Who was her captain? Was she even named Excelsior? (Just like Starfleet has had multiple ships with the same name but different registration, there's nothing saying they can't change a ships name without changing her registry.) Getting a series letter is an honor granted to ships with exceptional history. Which also raises the question, what did Will Riker do to get that A? Kirk and crew had to be exceptional and then save the Federation from a world ending space probe... twice.
Registry numbers have NEVER been a valid way to determine ships age! See Constellation, Grissom, Discovery etc etc As to the rest of your comment, perhaps we'll find out in the future!
I still despite your numbers for crew size of the Excelsior I, from everything I read it was at about 550. Then by the post Dominion War era, the man power shortages of the war taught Starfleet that need more automation (made more robust too) to keep crews smaller and increase the number ships in the fleet. Inspired by the Defiant concept from post-Wolf 359 ship designs. Meaning the Excelsior II probably had smaller crew compliment than original numbering in low 400's to high 300 hundreds. But I will say I am would be surprised if the class wasn't a major success. As it fits that perfect size for so many of Starfleet's greatest ships, not big and not to small making it an excellent jack of a trades (and master of none) Starfleet preferred.
It's a second flight for the Excelsior Class a full major redesign of the class and instead of a minor refit like the enterprise B refit that adds the fins
lazy design imo. TBH I figured the Sovereign class was the spiritual successor based on it's design and function. This is just a literal cleanup of the old design. Not really original, but with how much Star Trek loves to copy it's own older designs, I guess it makes sense. Meh.
100% Disagree, as does the majority of fandom, seeing this design as a worthy direct successor to the Excelsior Class! But, you cant please everyone 100% of the time, so it's no surprising that there's someone out there that doesn't like it!
Scotty sabotaged the prtotype in STIII. Now with that beign said, I find it odd that Starfleet never made any backups of the transwarp drive plans. Kinda odd that you would have an exparimental, untested device, yet no backups to replicate it should there ever been an error of some kind. Not a very scientific or smart way or doing progress if you ask me.
Where did you get the idea that "Starfleet never made any backups of the transwarp drive plans?" Canon or Beta Canon doesnt support that idea at all! Transwarp failed simply because it failed. Nothing to do with Scotty or Plans etc
Talk about redundant! One shot of Excelsior in a Sovereign shaped glass. This is a very pointless design, In fact, most "new" designs lately are just ugly knock offs of old designs and serve no purpose whatsoever other than to make more product to consume.
The only thing that's pointless here, is this comment... Anyone that knows Trek also knows it's not just about what the outside looks like, but whats on the inside that counts! Besides not reading the room and realizing All Trek ships could be called that by anyone as they are works of fiction, Just because you dont like something doesn't make it pointless or redundant, your not that important! Lol (THREAD CLOSED- No further comments will appear to prevent a nonsense circular argument by the OP)
The Excelsior II class is a worthy successor to the OG Excelsior Class.
Absolutely, 100%
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I would like to add, sleak, streamlined and sexy.
I’d argue it is much better looking. I didn’t like the first Excelsior class much, but the II version fixed everything and did it better!

Well done upgrade. I’ve always loved the Excelsior design. 🖖 ; and of course the Nebula Class👏
Of course lol

I always look forward to your stories and awesome ships thanks ❤

In a Star Trek game I have, I’m still using 22nd century ships in the 24th century so this comment is ironic lmao
My God that's a big ship
Not so big as her Captain, I think!

Indeed it is!
beautiful ship, never liked the original but this one has style
Love this design :)
Really dig the video! Makes me want to go read the books from the B's years in service.

Apparently they are, so no worries 😉
TY for the video an LLAP! Loved it!

I really really like the exelsior 2 design! Even better than the neo connie which was great already!
Well done , absolutely well 👏🏿 done😉🖖🏼!

MORE elegant.

Great video:)
Thank you :)
Love this design. If TNG had launched in the era of CGI over practical models, I could see this design taking the spot of the TOS era Excelsior class.
My 2nd favorite ship after the Enterprise-A
It's a beautiful design!

Fantastic video I like the excelsior class 2
Shes a beast in bridge commander.
So cool.
I only wish the ExcII would be kitbashable with the other Excelsior variants in STO.
How many goats can fit on this starship?
As many as you want! To quote Enterprise, Bigger on the inside! Lol
She definitely is a better looking ship than the original.
Very nice more please
I’m more than happy to write off the disastrous story choices in Picard as non-canon. “Synth attack? Inquiry class? Never heard of them.” 😂
Well that would just be silly, as they are canon (fact) It would be like you denying that water is wet, the moon landing ever happened, or the world isnt a big ball in the cosmos! 🙄🤣🤣🤣
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I didn't say it was reasonable 🤷🏻♂
LOL Fair enough LOL
Try an do a video on the universe class uss enterprise j please
I like this way more than the obena class. the neck of the obena REALLY bothers me.
Im not a fan of the Obena Class either tbh!
I never cared that much for the original, but this is a nice design.
What is a Sovereign, other then a Excelsior. Thanks for the great stories.
I feel that the original Excelsior is a myth, the II should have been given a much more luxurious spotlight than a background ship.
first, thanks for the video
Congratulations! And you're welcome!
I would have thought that with this being the successor to the original Excelsior, the registry would have been NCC-2000-A. Seems fitting.

You said this video was updated. what did you update? it looks the same. great video by the way
The screen at the beginning says...
tell me, do they call it excelsior II class in Picard? otherwise would it be considered an Excelsior Class Refit III?
Yes they do! It IS the Excelsior II Class, a simple google search proves that as well!
If this is Excelsior II then what is the 1701-B?
As canon states, it's an Excelsior Class Refit!
It's a second flight for the Excelsior Class a full major redesign of the class and instead of a minor refit like the enterprise B refit that adds the fins

Im not! Though I love this class, the Enterprise-G should be it's own newly designed starship!
